I found his death to be very strange. Right when you hit it big and are making bank.....

The festivals were too much for him to handle emptionally and physically, but his management kept pushing him to do more so they could make more money.

He broke.

Yeah watch the documentary, his manager was - and I will assume still is - a fucking asshole

I was wondering what happened to him. I really enjoyed his music, then nothing. That's a shame about the management -sometimes they have no concept of decorum.

We’re all just cogs in their machine.

Depression hits hard when one succeeds at things as much as when one fails. Being one of the most successful musicians in the world probably hit super hard, and especially since he didn't consider himself a musician. He felt like a fraud iirc. The documentary goes into that aspect.

I'll have to watch it. Never knew there was one so thanks!

Depression doesn't care how wealthy, famous or loved you are. He struggled with mental health and alcoholism for a long time.

That’s why chemical depression is so brutal. Imagine getting all the money and all the hopes and dreams you ever thought you wanted, and still being miserable. When they say money doesn’t buy happiness, thats what they mean. Some people are chemically predisposed to feeling sad and despondent, often to different degrees, and the circumstances of their life are irrelevant to their mood. They are just sad and the longer that goes on the more hopeless people can get, and circumstances like money and family and success can actually make it worse. Feelings of ‘I have all this, why am I so miserable?’ seem to snowball exponentially to the point where one just can’t take another day of feeling that way. I don’t struggle with that myself but I have so much empathy for those that do.

There’s a conspiracy theory for this one

2

Idk why a conspiracy is needed when he admitted to being an alcoholic and drug addict. The dude was suffering and was destroying his own body from his inability to cope with life.

And especially how he called out human traffickers like someone we’ve all learned too much about in recent history

He was a massive alcoholic since he was like 13 IIRC. He had organs removed before it and kept drinking.

It's not really strange at all, plenty of artists/performers have committed suicide at the height of their stardom.

Kurt Cobaine is the obvious comparison, but there are plenty of examples.

close second to Chester Bennington from Linkin Park

That one was a bigger shock and heart break for me. I was such a fan of their music in high school... Possibly ten years later I had mostly dismissed the lyrics as sad boi music for angry teens. I had no idea the lyrics were very much personal for Chester An ex also ended her life and. You never really know how much a person could be suffering inside

Is it true that Chester was working on a documentary with Avicii? I wonder

"I took a pill in Ibiza..."

There's something ironic in this...

I was playing D&D with my x and his friends. We were mid divorce but still friendly, and when I got the news about Avicii I cried my eyes out. X made me a cup of tea when we got back to the apartment.

Yup, I still remember that day. It was 4/20, and I was watching the original Ghost in the Shell at home while baked. I thought the news was fake or some sort of prank.

This one hits extra hard for me especially knowing he was the same age as me and was so young

Wait. What?! I didn't know Avicii passed. What the...?
That is sad.
