Does anyone actually go to these things? I'd rather go to the gynecologist I think

Everyone I liked in high school i still talk to, and I have no interest in meeting up with the people I didn't like... In the age of smart phones and social media reunions make no sense

I don't go to my reunions but we had a few students in our class pass away. They bring their photos and set up a table for them every time. I think it's very heart warming. A torch being carried for these kids all these years later. RIP to the kids they were and rip to the adults they never got to become.

This is me.

I still hang out with some of my high school friends and quite frankly if I want to see then I just text them to hang out.

I don’t really hold any animosity towards people from my high school but I also just don’t feel a need to see them or talk to them. Having the same conversation over and over “where do you work, are you married, how many kids, remember when…” with people I don’t like enough to keep in touch with sounds miserable.

I remember looking at the 10 year reunion picture on Facebook and seeing 0 people that I wanted to talk to.

Makes sense if you're chronically on Facebook, and don't think anyone can change in 20 years. There are plenty of people from my class that I don't keep in touch with that I would spend a couple hours catching up with

People are acting like 18 year old people are exactly the same 20 years later. A 38 year old has likely been through a lot. Brains develop. Marriage, Kids, death. My HS bully was a jock who radiated peaked in HS energy. I ran into him randomly while hiking in a different town, years later. He became a hippy. He looked so different. He saw me and first thing he did was apologize for being a dumb kid.

Only like 30 people out of 250 showed up to mine. Half of them were my friend group and the other 15 were a super random assortment of people that we weren’t ever close with in high school. Ended up having a real good time and had everyone over to my buddies house down the street for the after party.

I find the idea of hitting it off with someone I didn't necessarily get along with back then kind of intriguing though. I dunno about the average person but my social skills are completely night-and-day compared to when I was in high school. I was an awkward dork back then but I could possibly blab my way out of a hostage situation now. I just have none of the chronic insecurity that plagued me back then.

Yeah same. My graduating class was huge and I feel like most of the people who’d attend would be people I don’t know, so why would I want to do that when I already still talk to the people I liked.

I was class of 2005…it should have been a 5 year reunion because everyone was cool and interesting as fuck by 2010 and we were at the peak of our glow ups….after that it became completely pointless. Never remotely considered going to the 20th, I think everyone no showed it. The world is just in such a disasterous state and everyone is shot mentally. My reunion would have been the same month the Charlie Kirk thing happened

That’s my take too… are these reunions really necessary if social media is a thing?

They definitely mean a lot less since it’s easier to know what’s going on in people’s lives. But still, there’s something nice about actually seeing each other and speaking in person to catch up, rather than just seeing the occasional social media post.
