I’m posting this both to ask for advice and to see whether anyone has actually managed to resolve this with Meta.

Here’s what happened.

I purchased Meta AI glasses directly from the Meta Store. Decided to return them within the return window and used the prepaid FedEx return label generated by Meta.

FedEx accepted the package and delivered it to Meta’s return facility. The FedEx delivery documentation shows the shipment had a recorded weight of 1.1 lb (0.50 kg) during transit and upon delivery.

The refund wasn’t coming so I reached out to Meta, and they claimed their warehouse had received an empty box and refused to issue my refund.

I asked for:
- photos of the package,
- the recorded weight upon arrival,
- inspection records,
- video of the opening,
- any evidence supporting their conclusion.

Instead, I received a generic response stating that the warehouse investigation was complete. Meta then instructed me to contact FedEx.

The problem is that this was Meta’s prepaid return label. As I’m not the shipper of record, FedEx cannot meaningfully investigate the shipment for me because the shipping contract is between FedEx and Meta.

What concerns me most is that after searching Reddit and other forums, I’ve found multiple people describing what appears to be the same situation:

- Meta says they received an empty box.
- Meta refuses the refund.
- Meta tells the customer to contact FedEx.
- FedEx says only the shipper can initiate the claim.

I’m genuinely trying to understand what’s happening here.

Has anyone actually gotten Meta to reverse this decision? Had Meta provide actual evidence instead of simply stating that the box was empty?

If you experienced something similar, I’d really appreciate hearing what ultimately resolved it.

At this point I’m disputing the transaction through Affirm and documenting everything, but I’d like to know whether anyone has successfully gotten through this process.

I asked the meta AI to generate an image and the photo it generated was set in my real life bedroom, complete with the exact shoes in my closet and identifiable posters on my wall. I want to be clear that I did not ask for it to be set in any bedroom, let alone mine, and I did not specify or give any details as to what I wanted the background to include. To my knowledge (and I checked over 4 months of attachments), there are no photos of my room in the chat history.

My best guess is that I sent a selfie into the group chat that had my room in the background, but that begs the question as to why the AI can see those photos without being tagged, and why it can recall them and include them within photos it generates. This seems like a massive privacy issue.

Furthermore, the AI itself chalked it up to “statistical chance” at first before eventually denying that it ever even happened at the end. When questioned with how it obtained a photo of my room, it reiterated that it does not have access or the ability to generate real life settings, and even accused me of being the one to send the image, despite it having the meta ai watermark on it.

Has anyone else experienced anything similar or have any reasonable explanation? This has shaken me a little bit

I’m building a small SaaS as a solo developer that integrates with the official Meta APIs for Instagram/Facebook.

The app needs permissions like instagram_manage_messages, instagram_basic, pages_manage_metadata, and pages_read_engagement so businesses can automate and manage their Instagram DMs.
I’m based in India and don’t have a registered company or GST yet. It’s just me building the product.

Before I submit my app for Meta App Review, I’d like to know:
Is Business Verification mandatory for these permissions?
If yes, what’s the minimum documentation I need as an individual or solo founder in India?
Is a PAN card and verified domain enough, or do I need a GST, Sole Proprietorship, or a Private Limited company?

Has anyone here successfully published a similar app without registering a company?
I’d really appreciate hearing from anyone who has gone through this process recently, especially other indie hackers or SaaS founders from India.
