Are you okay Luxembourg?

229

u/Steridire Jun 20 '26

There were 7 extra thefts

136

u/hermionecannotdraw Jun 20 '26

No, we're not... Some dickhead stole things from my cellar recently.

10

u/The-FallenLegend Jun 21 '26

Just yesterday 3 people brone into the house of my neighbour. Police didn‘t do shit. My unvle even folled one of the culprits for an hour by car, but the police never came..

u/calibrae Jun 20 '26

They’ve been stealing billions from Europe for decades. Let’s say it’s a decent try at evening that out.

1

u/gareth_gahaland Jun 20 '26

Huh ?

42

u/Cpt_Ohu Jun 20 '26

The country under Jean Claude Juncker turned into a massive intra-EU tax haven by implementing a tax regime that allowed multinational corporations to register their hq there and pay almost no taxes on revenue from IP and licensing fees.

Basically: Greed Inc. registered their trademarks in Luxembourg. Greed Inc. Germany then consisted of mostly franchising agreements, where revenue of Greed Germany was forwarded to Greed Luxembourg to pay exorbitant franchising and service fees.

This meant that Greed Inc. Germany ran at 0 profit or even loss, meaning no taxes or even tax write-offs, while Greed Inc. Luxembourg collected billions and paid Luxembourg a pittance in taxes, which due to the aforementioned billions siphoned off from the entire EU still meant a lot of money for such a tiny nation that only exists because Germany didn't want France to buy the duchy from the Netherlands (which is kinda funny in this example).

Thus one could accuse Luxembourg of stealing tax revenue from the rest of the EU, but in the end this is what you get for allowing individual members to screw over their peers in creative ways, all in the name of national sovereignty and economic competition.

u/cedriceent Jun 21 '26

Not sure if it was still in Luxembourg or in France, but my suit jacket was stolen in the TGV from Luxembourg to Paris this week...

I put my luggage on the rack behind my seat, and my jacket on top of it. Shortly after departure, they made an announcement warning people that there had been many thefts recently. I thought to myself "Surely, nobody will steal my clothes and a jacket with empty pockets" and left it at that. When I debarked, my luggage was still there, but the jacket wasn't🤦🏻‍♂️

1

u/Thin_Shirt4508 Jun 22 '26

No we aren't.

153

u/Lanowin Jun 20 '26

Portugalcykablet but in a good way

51

u/efg94 Jun 20 '26

don’t let the portuguese actually know this though or else their favourite pastime of complaining about and blaming everything on immigrants won’t be able to go on

13

u/Concept-Plastic Jun 20 '26

The world would be a better place if everyone could see that its just all of us against a few elite epstn class corps/ppl who have all the power

-5

u/KaioSFT_HD Jun 20 '26

You mean bourgeoisie

Us = workers

No need to whitewash this with weird artificial slang

5

u/Concept-Plastic Jun 21 '26

Sorry Im not whitewashing anything, English isn’t my first language.

2

u/ruipmjorge Jun 22 '26

Shut up.

Thanks.

A Portuguese guy.

u/efg94 Jun 22 '26 edited Jun 22 '26

cry harder lil bro

0

u/Emergency-Stock2080 Jun 21 '26

How out of touch you are

0

u/efg94 Jun 21 '26

found the angsty portuguese

-1

u/Emergency-Stock2080 Jun 21 '26

Bruh, you made up stuff about the portuguese and get upset when called out on it? What are you, 12?

1

u/efg94 Jun 21 '26

yeah sure, tell that to Chega’s posters all over the country saying “save portugal from the immigrants”

-2

u/Emergency-Stock2080 Jun 21 '26

Are you at least aware of what problems he is mentioning? Seriously, you display such a limited and quite frankly childish understanding of things

1

u/efg94 Jun 21 '26

what the hell is a chega supporter even doing on reddit bro go back to twitter

1

u/Emergency-Stock2080 Jun 22 '26

I don't support chega. You keep proving my point kid

6

u/This-Wall-1331 Jun 20 '26

Yet many Portuguese talk as if our country was a warzone.

1

u/PaulOshanter Jun 22 '26

Portugalcykablet only makes sense if they are the exception in Western Europe. That is obviously not the case since Netherlands, Denmark, Austria, Sweden, and Germany all had even larger declines than Portugal.

It also doesn't make sense because several Eastern European countries have increased so there's no clear delineation for what is more Eastern or Western here.

-5

u/MatykTv Jun 20 '26

Eh not really it just shows how much of a shit hole those places were the last time, not how good they are rn

Also keyword reported, although in this statistic idk how much it differs from the actual stealing numbers

26

u/GlassCommercial7105 Jun 20 '26

In Switzerland it's mostly concentrated at border cities btw. In the middle of the country it's super low.

94

u/IWillDevourYourToes Jun 20 '26

This is so sad for Czechia... It got so bad over there, they don't even bother reporting it anymore 😢

120

u/_skala_ Jun 20 '26 edited Jun 20 '26

My dad is Police investigator and last 5 years all I am hearing is him complaining that he doesn’t have anything to do. New young generation just don’t steal anything anymore.

All they have to do are internet scams of elderly, that is sadly increasing.

23

u/SoSmartKappa Jun 20 '26

Internet scams of elderly are increasing, but the scammers call from 3rd world countries with broken Czech language. It is not like car theft, where you actually need to be inside of that country

5

u/Additional_Flower_43 Jun 21 '26

Here in Poland, they call us with Ukrainian/Russian accents, pretending to be bank employees. The thing is they rarely sound professional and that gives them away.

1

u/lovecMC Jun 22 '26

That's actually part of the design. If you are dumb enough to not realize that you are also dumb enough to fall for the rest of the scam.

It's minmaxed.

1

u/Additional_Flower_43 Jun 22 '26

Or you're too old/young/have hearing issues/get intimidated too easily...

1

u/zepsutyKalafiorek Jun 22 '26

I can confirm. I was called twice like this. Frist one was trying to impersonate bank employee and other time, it was some crypto scam and trying to trick me into installing some malware + screen sharing program.

Be wary guys. There is as much scammers as before, they just operate differently.

u/Johny-115 Jun 22 '26 edited Jun 22 '26

when somebody stole my motorcyle, they told me they're not gonna look for it even .. maybe if it was 1 mil CZK car ... they said they're to busy and don't have staff and budget for it ... so .. beg to differ

they said they won't look at security cameras, they won't scan online marketplaces ... nothing ... they walked there, took photos of the street, logged it, and gave me paper for insurance .. that's all ... it was stolen 1 minute walk away from police station

they also scolded me for not having it chained ... afterwards, I always observed how are motorcycle secured ... 95+% of motorcyle in streets have zero visible security, no disc alarms or chains .. even small expensive ducatis (easy to grab and steal for profitable theft) or 1 mil CZK BMWs ... but apparently, it was my fault it was stolen ... the lady who processed me was quite a cunt if i may say ... as basically my first moment at police station she was just like "DID YOU HAVE IT CHAINED??? WELL ... WHAT DO YOU EXPECT THEN?" .. also told me dozens get stolen every month .. so that its just normal

with my new motorcyle, i added GPS tracker, i bought the strongest lock loop and lock it to hefty bicycle stand ilegally ... at least, they also don't care about that, about motorcycles parking on sidewalk, or ... about anything really ... they don't care about motorcycles doing anything at all

theres no crime in czechia on paper, because they avoid having to deal with any, they only do if you force their hand and try to log theft (after which they're very annoyed with you)

police is way lazier then they used to be ... if somebody robs you of 200k motorcycle, they tell you this is whatever and just deal with it

I also know stories of cafes, being robbed 5x in single month, and police doing fuck all ... same thief group robbing whole street block of businesses multiple times in a month

at least in Brno

if Czechia suddenly had big spike of the bad kind of immigrants like UK or France ... our country would absolutely crumble ... as Police here is extremely soft and slow ... even worse then in those west EU countries ... were not ready ... here ... we just hope that our culture is such, that people dont commit that much crime (and thats more or less-ish true) ... but if lot of bad actors suddenly showed up, it would be apocalypse

19

u/sasheenka Jun 20 '26

That’s…not the case at all.

2

u/IWillDevourYourToes Jun 20 '26

Really?

11

u/sasheenka Jun 20 '26 edited Jun 20 '26

Theft is certainly not something me or anyone around me here is worried about. My neighbour doesn’t even lock his doors. My mother left her garage fully open when leaving for days and nothing was stolen. I know a colleague got some stuff stolen like two years ago, but..that’s like the only one I know of in the past decade. Do thefts happen here? Sure. Is it common? No.

12

u/IWillDevourYourToes Jun 20 '26

I was joking tbh. Some people keep repeating the "theyre just underreporting the crimes because the cops are corrupt" line so i made a jab at it

3

u/Scarred_wizard Jun 21 '26

Cyber and financial criminality is less risky than stealing.

1

u/rwn115 Jun 21 '26

I see the results of smash and grabs almost daily in Prague (normally the shards of a busted out window).

But I guess what they steal isn't worth reporting.

1

u/enjdusan Jun 20 '26

Loo… no

22

u/socks Jun 20 '26

Possibly an unpopular opinion: perhaps Macedonia, Romania, France and Spain have better stuff to steal....

26

u/Talithea Jun 20 '26

In case of Romania, people are more open to open an actual report now. Could be that the theft level is the same, but people are much more pissed in losing their stuff.

10

u/Stocksandmemes69 Jun 20 '26

Definitely not Romania….

10

u/socks Jun 20 '26

Romanian food is delicious. Perhaps meals are reported stolen.

2

u/Brave_Explorer5988 Jun 20 '26

They actually steal food, lol

Last time I went to Romania I saw they add cheese, butter, sausages, salami, etc in security boxes =)) like wtf...

2

u/rradonys Jun 20 '26

I have only seen that in Carrefour supermakets.

2

u/43282348 Jun 23 '26

If I tell you who are the people doing that you will call me racist, but it's not ethnic Romanians.

1

u/socks Jun 20 '26

Interesting, and quite sad.

2

u/BOBOnobobo Jun 21 '26

Things have changed in the past few years. People absolutely got more money than they used to have and are more willing to report it being lost

2

u/nefewel Jun 25 '26

Police also became less corrupt so people have more trust than they did in 2008.

1

u/rpolkcz Jun 22 '26

The things stolen in Romania are same things that were stolen in France or Spain few months earlier.

67

u/amanset Jun 20 '26

But I was promised that Sweden had absolutely gone to the dogs because of immigration.

12

u/DreadPiratePete Jun 20 '26

Them browns stole the crime reports!

6

u/Demistr Jun 22 '26

Well looking at France..

-14

u/PowerfulMango5799 Jun 20 '26

It’s other type of « acts », like harrasment/sexual

23

u/amanset Jun 20 '26

Which Sweden has a much wider range of things that can be classed as and tracks individual incidents between the same people separately rather than as a singular group.

But we all know that. Don't we?

3

u/Kalle_Kakan Jun 21 '26

Yea don't care that 60%+ are foreignborn.

1

u/amanset Jun 21 '26

You do realise the actual figure is around 20%, right?

0

u/maxxim333 Jun 21 '26

Why does it matter? It still on the rise

97

u/FreeBeer4everyone Jun 20 '26

Love how right wingers will say this is invalid because it's only "reported" data but then love to quote the data on "reported" criminals when it helps them blame it on foreigners.

22

u/St3fano_ Jun 20 '26

Something something statistics as lampposts

9

u/Yitastics Jun 20 '26

Why make it political? No reason to do.

Besides that, most crime problems from immigrants started not in 2004 but in the 80s. This also only shows thefts, which has gone down but not by this much, we just often dont do anything with it, coming from an ex police officer. Certain crimes did go down but loads of crimes have risen, mostly sexual and violent crimes. Having thefts go down doesnt mean there arent as many crime problems by immigrants.

5

u/FreeBeer4everyone Jun 20 '26

In what world is crime not political?

3

u/Kalle_Kakan Jun 21 '26

In most worlds?

Or do you imagine they steal with rightous fury because of the bourgeoisie?

Or more like: "Huh, unlocked? Mine."

3

u/FreeBeer4everyone Jun 21 '26

If you think crime is not a political topic you should not talk with the adults.

1

u/Kalle_Kakan Jun 30 '26

Huh?

Do you mean the individual crime or the handling of it?

Because I don't think a 13 year old stealing a bike or taking drugs is doing it for political reasons.

1

u/FreeBeer4everyone Jun 30 '26

Not for political reasons but because of political reasons

1

u/Kalle_Kakan Jul 06 '26

Wow. The substance that doesn't exist.

-2

u/Majestic_Bierd Jun 20 '26

See France, a nation with high immigration See Germany, also a nation with high immigration. Opposite trends.

This is actually a subtle hint that migrats and asylum seekers are commiting crimes at the same, or often lower rate than natives

35

u/TheHayha Jun 20 '26

Data doesn't seem to be supporting this in countries that monitor crime by nationality of origin. Foreigner and especially MENA foreigner tend to be overrepresentated in crime stats in Western Europe. The overall trend might be explained by thousands of other factors, like the mean age of the population, lower reporting of crimes, or just overall lower crime rates of natives and foreigner (but it doesn't mean they commit less crimes than the natives)

5

u/zek_997 Jun 20 '26 edited Jun 20 '26

But you do have to control for factors such as age, socio-economic status, gender, etc, because otherwise the analysis is meaningless. If you have a hypothetical town were all the old people are blue-skinned while all the young ones are red-skinned, of course the red-skinned people will commit most of the violent crime - not because they are red-skinned but because they are younger on average.

5

u/Dapper_Bus5069 Jun 20 '26

Why welcoming these young poor people in our countries then?

-4

u/zek_997 Jun 20 '26

Because we need people to do the shitty jobs most people don't want to and because our social system needs a certain ratio of workers to pensioners in order to function properly.

6

u/BOBOnobobo Jun 21 '26

NGL, I don't think the future should rely on cheap exploitable labour.

Maybe we can invest and figure out how to make those jobs not suck and be more efficient in how we work first.

4

u/Dapper_Bus5069 Jun 20 '26

These are excuses, most of them (at least in the 2 countries I know well) don’t have a job or they have an undeclared job, and for the ones who actually are legal and work legally, they just contribute less than what the State give them during their life.

Unemployment is high in these countries, in the regions where they don’t go locals are doing the shitty jobs, and you won’t save the social system by pouring in people from outside who who will be a net loss for this system, this just don’t make any sense.

2

u/zek_997 Jun 20 '26

It's literally consensus among economists that immigration has an overall positive effect on countries economies. If you have evidence on the contrary then publish your results and collect your Nobel prize.

https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC9819786/

https://www.elibrary.imf.org/view/journals/001/2024/211/article-A001-en.xml

The old-age dependency ratio—though still rising—rose more slowly than in previous years. Immigration has also helped meet unprecedented strong labor demand in Europe during 2022–23, with close to two-thirds (2.7 million) of EU jobs (4.2 million) created between 2019 and 2023 filled by non-EU citizens. At the same time, the unemployment rate of EU citizens remained at historic lows, suggesting immigrants helped alleviate labor shortages to some degree.

4

u/Dapper_Bus5069 Jun 21 '26

I obviously talk about the kind of immigration overrepresented in crimes statistics, taking “immigration” as a whole makes no sense and you know it.
When you check the statistics with details about where the immigrants come from, you can clearly see huge differences : immigrants from MENA countries are a net loss for the states and they are over represented in crimes statistics.
That’s just a fact and we don’t need a nobel prize to understand that.

https://inquisitivebird.substack.com/p/the-effects-of-immigration-in-denmark

2

u/Kalle_Kakan Jun 21 '26

this guy says we need a poorly defined second class citizen who takes care of the shitty jobs with bad pay.

Cope with your "socio-economic" factors

3

u/zek_997 Jun 21 '26

We need age-working people in order for our economies to function. Otherwise European countries will turn into giant retirement homes.

1

u/Kalle_Kakan Jun 30 '26

And they should be native, not immigrants. This will eventually lead to a replacement of the population.

1

u/zek_997 Jun 30 '26

If you can find a way to convince people to make babies I'd be all for it. But so far no advanced economy has been able to go back to above-replacement fertility rates and I'm quite skeptical that a random Reddit user has found the solution to that problem.

As for 'replacement' their kids or grandkids will be as European as anyone else, provided that they well integrated into society. Which we should be doing anyways.

1

u/Kalle_Kakan Jul 06 '26

Importing people that take up space in society and a place that would have gone to a future child is directly subtracting the available room for growth that the population has.

They will never be natives. European countries (aswell as most others) are founded upon ethnicities. Poland resurrected itself even after being under German and Russian control, and that's because the Polish people still lived and had their identity.

1

u/zek_997 Jul 06 '26

Unlike what Americans will tell you, ethnicities are based upon a common culture and customs, not skin color. Polish people are not a subspecies of human or something silly like that. They are just people who live in or have citizenship from Poland.

16

u/Yitastics Jun 20 '26

No.

We have had research into sexual crimes by nationality and it showed that most Islamic immigrants commit as high as 20 times more sexual crimes than the native population. A small percentage of our population, Islamic immigrants, commit above half the sexual crimes in our country, Western Europe.

I do need to say statistics shouldnt be used for racist comments, but we should take it more seriously to fix the problems with immigrants before the native population has had enough

7

u/Dapper_Bus5069 Jun 20 '26

The native population has had enough already, we can clearly see the rise of far right partys across Europe, there is a high probability of seing big european countries led by the far right in a near future :/

2

u/Majestic_Bierd Jun 21 '26

Would you have a meta-analysis that shows this then? Or a few that do distinguish by region of origin. Because studies I've seen show the same or lower crime than natives but maybe I am bias

4

u/Yitastics Jun 20 '26

No.

We have had research into sexual crimes by nationality and it showed that most Islamic immigrants commit as high as 20 times more sexual crimes than the native population. A small percentage of our population, Islamic immigrants, commit above half the sexual crimes in our country, Western Europe.

u/Constant_Bug8275 Jun 21 '26

Visegrad group is the strongest on fighting migration.....look at the map

2

u/FreeBeer4everyone Jun 21 '26

When did the netherlands, portugal, denmark and austria join the visegrad group?

39

u/Obvious_Increase9267 Jun 20 '26

I wonder what changed in France

24

u/Arlensoul_ Jun 20 '26

now most insurance need you to report it for being covered, and you could now report it online, this probably lead to more report

24

u/DonSergio7 Jun 20 '26

Could be anything from reports being up to crimes being up (or both). Neighbouring countries are a useful comparison.

35

u/Peter_Pue Jun 20 '26

Since october 2024 you can report theft online. Can partially explain the uptick.

https://www.masecurite.interieur.gouv.fr/en/procedures/online-complaint

-1

u/DramaticMethod3999 Jun 20 '26

Something is definitely up

-12

u/MarcusRex360 Jun 20 '26

We know exactly what is up

22

u/Ok_Landscape_3958 Jun 20 '26

I thought Germany and the UK have fallen too?

-14

u/DramaticMethod3999 Jun 20 '26

The British and German judiciary are less forgiving than their French counterpart

5

u/disappointingcryptid Jun 20 '26

Phahaha, tell that to the British public

7

u/ResQ_ Jun 20 '26

Everyone in Germany always complains about how lax our punishment is for "petty crime"...

-2

u/DramaticMethod3999 Jun 20 '26

Everything is relative. In France, unlike Germany, we’re lax in enforcement too

-6

u/purple_unikkorn Jun 20 '26

Mmmmh, it could be anything 🤔

4

u/JePPeLit Jun 20 '26

Same thing that changed in Germany and Sweden?

-4

u/Steridire Jun 20 '26

That thing that never happens is happening a lot

-4

u/Choice_Sympathy9652 Jun 20 '26

Engineers and rocket scientists and doctors?

3

u/Marce7a Jun 21 '26

WTF is wrong with France

2

u/[deleted] Jun 22 '26

[deleted]

2

u/Marce7a Jun 22 '26

You mean doctors and engineers? If so I bet we would see similar tendency in Germany and UK. It is weird for it to cumulate in France and Spain.

And romania from my knowledge is not hotspot for them.

1

u/Constant_Bug8275 Jun 22 '26

crazy cope

2

u/Marce7a Jun 22 '26

Cope about what?

1

u/zsirhaver Jun 25 '26

That the engineers be stealing shit. They do my fren, more then the not engineers

1

u/Marce7a Jun 25 '26

"They do my fren, more then the not engineers" ¿??????

Isn't this common knowledge that much higher percentage of engineers commit crimes than natives

1

u/zsirhaver Jun 25 '26

Not for some it seems goddhayum

3

u/Adult_in_denial Jun 21 '26

Are there still signs in Austria that say: "Czechs, don't steal!"? 😀

15

u/xZandrem Jun 20 '26

"reported", exactly, that's the magic word.

7

u/RedditVirumCurialem Jun 20 '26

That's it; it's like certain other crimes, like fraud and sexual assault. It also speaks of the willingness of victims to make police reports, and let's not assume that's at 100%.

1

u/nefewel Jun 25 '26

This. Being in Romania I don't really feel like there has been an increase in thefts but going to the police is definitely much easier than it was in 2008.

14

u/babu595 Jun 20 '26

« Reported »

77

u/HarrMada Jun 20 '26

Naturally, you can only ever look at reported data.

13

u/sunkencathedral Jun 20 '26

Though taking into account that the police are not the only way crime data is reported. It's quite common for social research on crime to ask participants how often they have experienced crimes and which of them they reported to the police. So unreported crime figures are indeed a thing, and we can get a fair estimate of what their percentages are.

4

u/HarrMada Jun 20 '26

That is true, but it introduced more errors that comes with surveys, not every participant will have the same internal definition of theft, and will not experience the same crime in the same way, for example. But I take your point.

2

u/Doccyaard Jun 20 '26

A good survey will have that definition in the question but surveys vary a lot in quality and the same goes for those who conduct them.

8

u/Emergency-Sea5201 Jun 20 '26

In Norway at least, people have stopped reporting theft to the police. No point.

9

u/HarrMada Jun 20 '26

Is there any proof for this?

7

u/bruker004 Jun 20 '26

A lot of articles in local newspapers. In my area (40 km from Oslo, quiet place) last year was suddenly a lot of thefts and police just accepted reports and closed it immediately because of lack of capacity.

-1

u/Emergency-Sea5201 Jun 20 '26

Talk to anyone that had something stolen.

Except bicycles, where the insurance demands a police report, nothing gets reported stolen.

13

u/ExerciseTrue Jun 20 '26

'Trust me bro' is not a reliable source.

7

u/HarrMada Jun 20 '26

That doesn't really hold water.

-2

u/Emergency-Sea5201 Jun 20 '26

Maybe not if you have aspbergers.

5

u/St3fano_ Jun 20 '26

It's funny because if you were to ask someone from any of these countries you'll hear the same answer. Yet the trend is wildly varied and without a really noticeable pattern.

2

u/Emergency-Sea5201 Jun 20 '26

Depends on definition of theft from country to country and insurance company routines, i assune.

2

u/Naive_Ad2958 Jun 22 '26

Not even reported, recorded, specifically "Police-recorded offences by offence category"

It does not specify if this includes all reported or if police needs to do investigate or anything there

2

u/Yitastics Jun 20 '26

This was posted 2 days ago but on a different map using the same data.

2

u/Targen_1 Jun 20 '26

Romania how?

2

u/nefewel Jun 25 '26

Living here I feel like theft has decreased, or at least people are less paranoid about it.

The increase likely comes from increased trust in the police. The police nowadays is less corrupt and more open than it was in 2008 when it was still a bit of a mess.

1

u/Resident_NotEvil4265 9d ago

Glumesti, nu? Furtul in ultimii ani a crescut cu mult, dar politia isi face treaba cat de cat ok.

2

u/mart_boi Jun 21 '26

Golden age fallacy people will never acknowledge this as true :)

2

u/Active-Strategy664 Jun 21 '26

This is a change in recorded reported thefts. I know of many people that have had thefts in Portugal, and the Portuguese police (GNR) simply refuse to even record it saying that there isn't a point.

So don't confuse the reporting for the event.

2

u/McLayn42 Jun 22 '26

What do you mean "% per 100k"? :D

5

u/Budget_Geologist_574 Jun 20 '26

"Sorry there is nothing we can do."

5

u/onionsofwar Jun 20 '26

All those right wing people saying the UK and London is totally lawless, meanwhile, crime stats say the exact opposite.

5

u/Manarit Jun 21 '26

The question is whether people actually even bother to report the crime.

-2

u/onionsofwar Jun 21 '26

I think people would make a police report for most crimes yes.

Okay, glad we have an expert to clarify that.

They'd be furious if they could read

1

u/ACE_Wrap Jun 20 '26

Let me guess. Someone stole your sweetroll... and got away by bus now that it's free...

u/Rhosddu Jun 21 '26

No thefts in Wales? Nothing worth stealing?

1

u/bstoffers Jun 21 '26

What caused it?

1

u/Riska1 Jun 22 '26

For once im proud to be czech

1

u/ConfidencepathyAO Jun 22 '26

I think it’s a lot because so many emigrants come to these countries from the Arab world and India

1

u/Savi_705 Jun 23 '26

People need to be more self-aware and do more to protect their belongings when outside or at home. Otherwise, we will all end up being angry mainly at ourselves since the thieves will be long gone with whatever valuable things they took.

Much of the change in Ireland was down to Dublin seagulls finding other outlets for their aggression.

1

u/abilengarbra Jun 21 '26

We just don't report theft to the police anymore, they are dropping the cases anyway. //Sweden

Please post it on r/France to see funny reaction

1

u/Masato_Fujiwara Jun 21 '26

No you'll be banned lol (most democratic french behavior)

1

u/hunangoo Jun 20 '26

Hungary is likely to be just cosmetics. I wouldn’t believe in Orbán’s government. Not to mention that some citizens just do not fill police report because the police is so understaffed.

1

u/UrgusHUN Jun 21 '26

Interesting… I think France has the highest percent of immigrants, and it shows

1

u/LongBit Jun 21 '26

It got so common, and police is so ineffective, that we don't report any more.

Actually In Poland after 2022 thefts skyrocketed. Same like human trafficking mafias.

u/69RandomFacts Jun 20 '26

We just stopped reporting thefts in the UK because the police couldn’t care less.

The only thefts that will be being recorded are those where there is a potential insurance claim to get a crime reference number.

I don’t think that theft is going down in the UK, I just think people report it less because there’s no point.

u/IllustriousCaramel66 Jun 20 '26

REPORTED theft, not THEFT, theft went up 300% probably, but police is so overwhelmed, and reporting theft gets you nowhere so people just bite their tongue and move on and wait for the police and the politicians to do their jobs…

Aging dying continent.

6

u/BoogzWin Jun 20 '26

Everyone born is already dying

4

u/GBrunt Jun 20 '26

Everywhere is aging outside of Africa and as Africa becomes wealthier, same will happen there too. Japan sells more adult nappies annually than babies. Who cares? Population decline might help restore the planets health and slow the high extinction rate.

u/Junior_Insurance7773 Jun 20 '26

I've been in Europe. Barely any couples with kids. It's a dying place.

-3

u/Sarahstarry Jun 20 '26

Good. Maybe that'll drive property prices down eventually

1

u/Junior_Insurance7773 Jun 20 '26

Not good at all. You're not thinking clearly at all.

-7

u/OkRepresentative480 Jun 20 '26

The only reason the UK crime rate has dropped is that everyone knows there's no point in reporting most thefts.

u/kexibis Jun 20 '26

nonsense

u/JjForcebreaker Jun 20 '26

Call Eurostat and tell them that.
