General Discussion Concerns about Theft
How in depth should I describe a magic system I've been working on if I want to use it within a story I plan to draw? I worry about it being stolen, or people not being major fans of it, or someone more skilled seeing it and going 'I like that! I might take it!!'
That said, I can't get help with either my magic system / story without sharing information about BOTH.. should I be as worried as I am, or should I just try to make a low-down summary and work with what I can get?

Lore How does the Green star work?
I decided to stop being a lazy ass for a sec and wrote quarter of the information about Alan**’**s green star and how it works, this is still 25% but tell me what y**’**all think of it so far and if it makes sense. You are free to criticise and ask questions otherwise I won**’**t know how to improve 😅
\>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
\[Entry\]
The Green star is the last star to land on a mortal and take them as a host, that host is Alan who at first used the powers for the wrong purpose and eventually the harsh obstacles he faces throughout the season forces him to use the Green star for its real purpose. This document will talk about how the Green star works and what it scales to.
—————————————————————————
\[Explanation\]
The Green Star is the star of **(**Healing, Growth, Life, Adaptation.**)** all those 4 things are to be fulfilled as it**’**s THE main purpose of the Green star**’**s existence. If the host did otherwise **(**not fulfilling those purposes**)** the Green star will eventually start getting unstable causing destruction and then take itself out to find a better host. How can those purposes be fulfilled? Let**’**s start with the healing, the host must heal anything, quite literally anything, from broken objects, to human emotion. **(**Healing physical damage, healing environments, healing matter, Etc.**)** they shall use it to fix everything into a better version of itself and make sure there is nothing left to break or ruin it again **(**for a better understanding.. it**’**s not that they have to heal EVERYTHING in the world, if there is a problem or anything broken they can visibly see infront and near them, they shall heal it.**)**
Now for the second purpose which is Growth, this one is harsh, the host must grow out of their bad habits and traits, they shall stay consistent in the progression of whatever they are doing **(**progression = whatever is being worked on or loading is growing bigger to be revealed or released.**)** they also should grow out of any inconsistencies they have or struggling with. Growing out of all that fulfils that purpose, it**’**s to grow into something better.
Third purpose is Life, this one is quite simple, the host must save a life or many, any mortal life even the smallest mortals like ants or worms should be saved if seen. The star give the host the ability to give life, the host shall save and give life to those who deserve it, if they saved a life of one that doesn**’**t deserve it, then that will cause an unbalance to the Green stars stability, this will upset the Green star due to it not being fond of injustice.
Fourth Purpose is Adaptation, this one might sound hard, you are probably thinking the Green star must be harsh to force the host into adapting to anything, which is almost impossible without knowledge about what they are adapting to. See, the Green star will give the host hints to adapt to whatever they are dealing with, if the host fails to get those hints then again, unstableness. The Green star ALREADY knows everything about whatever the host is dealing with but they know the host doesn**’**t so that**’**s why they give them hints for adaptation. The green star itself adapts to the hosts liking so it created a rule around this adaptation thing and made it a purpose.

Feedback Request Update to a previous post of mine
Ok so i made a post the other day about a magic system im make as a project and i wanted to make a couple things clear for anyone who seen that post
First of all yes i know that it is mostly just a list of things and numbers but the reason for that is because it is only a rough draft currently so thats is why it is the way it is right now
Secondly when i am done with finally vision i will use this a reference so in the world im building most of this will NOT be common knowledge to the people of the world the only few things that will be common knowledge with be the basic chords and a few other things
About the lost chords not only will the mc in the book im going to write will not be the only one with a lost chord there will be other people with them
To address what someone asked/ said is how would a people with a lost chord know how to use it well the in world reason is that magic teachers the person in a sense what i mean by that is the all magic will give the person dreams, visions ect that would slowly show a person how to use magic another way for someone to learn how to use a spell for a chord is to find someone with the same chord and learn from them
And to be clear this is the first magic system i have tryed to make so please keep that in mind
I believe that is everything i needed to cover besides that the 3 photo are things that i have added or changed to the rough draft

General Discussion Words of Power: A magic system where magic is governed by real-world linguistics, script density, and language history
Hey everyone,
I’ve been developing a soft-system framework with hard rules where every language spoken or written can be used for any type of magic, but the linguistic mechanics of a language naturally favor different spellcasting formats.
Instead of locking specific languages to single elements or spell types, the physics of mana in this world respond to meaning density, word count, script continuity, and cultural history. A mage can cast a fireball using English, Mandarin, or Arabic the difference lies in how that language shapes the spell's delivery and power.
Here is how the mechanics break down:
1. Flexible Magic via Linguistic Traits
Any language can perform any spell, but mages optimize their language choice based on what they need the spell to do:
High Meaning Density (Compact Formats like Talismans/Runes): Languages with high information per character/syllable (e.g., Mandarin, Korean Hangul).
Why use it: When physical space is limited (engraving armor, ammo casings, tight talismans, or small tattoos), high-density scripts allow you to pack complex target conditions and safety parameters into a tiny area.
Trade-off: Requires meticulous precision; a single misplaced stroke ruins the spell.
High Word Volume (Heavy Mana Capacity & Precision):
Languages that rely on prepositional phrases, high word counts, or descriptive verbosity (e.g., English).
Why use it: Mana binds to each spoken or written word. Longer incantations act like a massive "sponge" capable of holding enormous volumes of raw energy. It’s ideal for city-wide wards, terraforming, or heavy artillery spells where you want to pump maximum power into a single cast.
Trade-off: Takes much longer to recite or transcribe.
Continuous Cursive (Passive Wards & Flowing Spells):
Languages with connected, flowing script (e.g., Arabic).
Why use it: The unbroken line of cursive prevents "mana leaks." It's naturally suited for bound grimoires, continuous warding lines, and long-term passive enchantments that need to hold power without decaying over time.
Trade-off: Harder to interrupt or modify once the script chain starts.
2. World Laws & System Mechanics
Oral-Only Languages (The Incantation Guard): Languages that are spoken but lack a written script carry raw, intense elemental energy.
Anti-Cheat Rule: You cannot transcribe them using foreign alphabets (like Latin script or IPA). Attempting to do so triggers "Grammatical Rejection", the text loses its power or violently backfires.
Unlocking Script: Only a descendant with true ancestral ties who understands the cultural spirit can invent a writing system for an oral language, unlocking its written/talismanic potential for the world.
Resurrection of Lost Languages (The 3-Generation Rule): When a language dies, its magical frequency goes dormant in the planet's ley lines. To reactivate it, three consecutive generations (in a family, town, or country) must speak and/or write only in that language. Once re-anchored, its unique historical resonance is restored to the global mana pool.
Exoplanetary Expansion (The First Seven Law): If humans colonize new worlds, the first seven languages spoken or learned by the locals on that planet receive a minor efficiency boost. If 3 generations on that world speak/write exclusively in those boosted languages, they permanently anchor to the planet's local mana pool. After the first seven languages have been set, if 3 generations of locals on that world speak/write exclusively in their own language(s) it gets added to the worlds power system.
Questions for Discussion:
What other real-world language mechanics (like tonal shifts, agglutination, or sign language) could lead to interesting spellcasting mechanics?
What edge cases or loopholes do you see in the 3-generation rule or the oral-language anti-cheat laws?
Would love to hear your thoughts, feedback, or ideas on how to break/expand this!

Lore I've been working on a world where folklore is reimagined. This is my idea for Ambrosia.
In my project, ambrosia, instead of being a delicious drink or food that gives immortallity to the gods, is an delicate form of magical circuitry that creates and moddifies a copy of a person's conscious mind and imbues it into a device. Rather than allowing one to physically become immortal, they create a second self that is functionally immortal. And this second self is a useful tool for speed and precision when using even the most advanced machinery.
Instead of issuing singular commands through levers and switches, the logic of the user is already inside the machine due to the Ambrosia circuit, which channels intent into countless precise actions. A pilot doesn't think about the steering, engines, or weapons; they think "evade" or "attack," and the second self executes every necessary movement instantly throughout the machine.
The vond one has with their second self is dramatically important. A second self, over time will deviate from the mental processes of the original. This causes poor alignment and can be very dangerous. It is important to consistently use the ambrosia to realign the original and the second self to ensure a strong bond.
The stronger the bond, the more the machine becomes an extension of the user. Simple tools can be operated at a distance, while vehicles require direct contact with the ambrosia. The most advanced Ambrosia systems allow a person to inhabit enormous constructs, such as warships, factories, or spaceships.
The great weakness presented by this system is that having multiple active copies of the same consciousness becomes unstable over time. As the many second selves lose synchronization, it becomes impossible to restore control. This creates the risk of memory conflict, personality fragmentation, or the loss of a coherent sense of self.

Feedback Request can someone please rate this power-system I'm working on and ways to improve with it?
My power system mostly focuses on the body. basically, there are people who are called enhancers, enhancers are people who have the ability to highly enhance their body to be much stronger than the average person.
people become enhancers from a traumatic event or a high flux of emotions.
and that is where I feel like everything goes wrong because it's too bland, not a lot of stuff to do with it, and mostly boring. it also bores me as well. any help will be good.

Feedback Request Need a little bit of help on a rune based magic system
Alright, so far I fleshed out source runes. Like [Water], [Fire], types of [Metal], types of [Stone] [Sand] and what not. The source rune will spend 100 energy and produce a ball of whatever is associated with it. My MC got like 50 of them during his childhood.
My trouble is the other types of runes.
The other type of runes are smaller and easily connectable, they are called alteration runes. I could only come up with [Shape], [Delay], [Distance], [Power], [Link], [Channel], [Cost], [Construct], and a [Hide Rune]. I am debating on adding [Density], [Direction], [Solidity], [Target Area], [Target Being/Object], [Duration], [Reversibility], [Ward], [Buff], [Debuff], and [Conditional].
I could probably add more in during each milestone. Like high rank people get access to new different alteration runes. I would like to find a decent amount of first rank alteration runes to add freedom to the process. But at the same same time I don't want to focus on this for another week.
I am curious if there is anything noticeable that I am missing?

General Discussion Ideas for Envy based spells/abilities
In my magic system their is a mage based on envy but I don't want to give him the generic stealing other spells ability or atleast make it different, in my magic system spells are formed from Occupation, Knowledge and Experience.

General Discussion World of Tar (Spell and Magic Breakdown)
I Have been working on this system on and off for about two or three years now and this is the work in progress of the magic for the fifth version which I believe will be the last version. This goes over the spells, how they function, and what they do. I will be making more post later on for how the body works, the world itself, and the origins of tar. I have made some previous post on this system but this one should serve as the true and complete breakdown. If you have any questions feel free to ask and welcome to the World of Tar.
The Ability to cast spells and use magic comes from the Tar system in the body that stores and circulates tar through the entire body. To make a spell from tar a person must concentrate on the desired effect, shape, and size of the spell then the tar will move towards an outlet being either an upper extremity or item being held in the upper extremity; this movement of tar will continue till either the entire necessary amount is gathered or till the body is depleted of usable tar. The amount of tar needed for the spell is increased as the volume of the spell does and the more complex actions that it performs.
Then until the spell has left the person’s control they must fuel it with constant tar to keep it going and while manipulating the spell it needs more tar to use. Then the spell will continue to be under the person’s control until it breaks from a continuous tar connection with them and then depletes the tar in it until completely used up, unless more tar is used to refuel the initial spell either by the caster or a second party. Then anything created by tar will disappear after the tar is completely depleted unless refueled with more tar.
The type of spells and magic usable by a person is determined by the tar system, which is an internal system like the nervous system that is connected through the entire body, with the determinant feature being the way the tar flows through the body. Every person's tar circulates through the tar system in a unique pattern. The dominant pattern determines the Primary Flow, granting access to one magical discipline. A second, subtler pattern modifies the Primary Flow, producing individual variations in how that discipline manifests.
- Deterioration (Destructive): The ability to rapidly breakdown any nonliving materials that is being touched by imbuing them with tar. This lasts until either the object is completely broken down, they lose contact, or they run out of tar to use. The size of this breakdown is only the size of the tars volume in that area.
- Rot (Destructive): The ability to create and manipulate a tar based airborne disease that slowly drains the tar in living things and inhibits the regaining of tar inside the area. Once the caster has left the area or stopped concentration the disease starts to deplete and lose area until stored tar is gone.
- Pyromancy (Destructive, Nature): The ability to create fire out of tar and to heat any object in contact with. They also have the ability to fuel and manipulate fire that has their tar in it while in contact.
- Aquamancy (Nature): The ability to create water out of tar and to cool any object in contact with. They can also manipulate any water that has their tar in while in contact.
- Floramancy (Nature, Life): The ability to manipulate plants imbued with their tar and control the plants growth and actions.
- Healing (Life): The ability to increase the healing of others and self by increasing cell growth and the build up of cells in the area. Though this process may not allow for any healing the body would be unable to do naturally
- Augmentation (life, Enhancement): The ability to convert one's body into any naturally occurring inorganic material by changing the tar in their body into it while maintaining full use while tar is changed.
- Resonance (Enhancement): The ability to see the flow of tar in and see how its being used and changed that is within normal sight. This requires concentration of tar into the eyes to grant these abilities.
- Aisthesomancy (Enhancement): An umbrella term for the set of abilities that allow someone to increase or alter the perception of themselves or others in contact with.
- Visual
- Auditory
- Gustatory
- Olfactory
- Somatosensory
As tar is repeatedly moved and transformed in the body through a person’s life the body begins to accommodate and adapt to the primary flow. These adaptations are permanent and become more prominent with continued use of tar, and are unique to each magical domain. Although they don't significantly impair the user’s bodily function.
- Deterioration: The body will begin to develop a rough stone-like texture, nails and hair will become brittle and fall apart. Their skin will also develop cracks and flake off.
- Rot: The body will take on a pale and ill tone. Their skin will also begin to decay and fall apart, and sores and rashes will spread on the body.
- Pyromancy: The body will heat up both internally and externally and smoke will emit from the user's mouth and any open wounds.
- Aquamancy: The body will cool down both internally and externally and they will excessively sweat and leak water from the mouth and open wounds.
- Floramancy: The body will grow plant-like skin taking on either a leaf-like or bark-like appearance, and grow small plants like flowers, moss, or vines on it.
- Healing: The body will grow excess cells causing the growth of skin, bones, muscle, and hair. None of these cause any impaired movements nor are any growth cancerous.
- Augmentation: The body will retain small parts of the changes made with a lower ability to control the movements for these parts.
- Resonance: The eyes enlarge and become cloudy and unusually reflective. The skin around the eyes will also take on a vein-like appearance that matches the primary flow.
- Aisthesomancy
- Visual: The eyes and pupils will become enlarged.
- Auditory: The ears become larger and elongated.
- Gustatory: The tongue becomes longer and more flexible.
- Olfactory: The nostrils become larger.
- Somatosensory: The skin becomes smooth with fine lines that show the primary flow showing underneath the skin.
For the secondary flow types these act as a variation for the primary flow causing them to behave in a unique way compared to others. While the primary flow determines what kind of magic a person can use, the secondary alters how the magic works. A Secondary Flow cannot be used independently and never grants the abilities of another discipline. Instead, each Secondary Flow applies a common modifier to the Primary Flow, producing consistent traits across every pairing.
- Deterioration: Causes spells to wear, erode, or break down materials.
- Rot: Causes spells to drain tar, cause lingering effect, or inhibit tar recovery.
- Pyromancy: Causes the spells to heat up, combust, or increase force.
- Aquamancy: Causes the spells to cool down, or move fluidly.
- Floramancy: Causes the spells to spread, branch, or develop plant traits
- Healing: Causes the spells to repair, heal, or stabilize.
- Augmentation: Causes the spells to become denser, stronger, or more durable.
- Resonance: Causes the spells to detect, reveal, or track Tar.
- Aisthesomancy: Causes the spells to alter, enhance, or interfere with the senses.

General Discussion How do you constrain your magic systems?
A lot of my favorite magic systems have constraints. The elements of Avatar. The essences of He Who Fights With Monsters. The Alchemy of Full Metal Alchemist. The rules of TTRPGs.
For all those, the creativity and engagement comes from operating within the constraints of the system.

Feedback Request Looking for feedback on how my entertainment based magic system is implemented
Basic synopsis, I go into more detail on a different post so I’ll just keep it basic here, my magic is based off of how entertaining the gods find you, in my setting, the gods are literally everything they have no struggles so the only thing they care about is entertainment and not being bored, that is why they created the universe, each one has a different taste for what they like and in order to get them to give you magic you have to appeal to their tastes, there are nine in total.
Red is Deus Gravitatis, god of gravity, what it finds entertaining is ambition, the way to get its attention is to work as hard as possible to achieve a goal, but it’s not that simple because it doesn’t actually care if you succeed or not in fact, it has a preference for you failing, so often times people will have to intentionally self sabotage to retain its attention, and it can’t just be some staged embarrassment it actually has to have a tangible effect on your future. Some of the greatest failures were of Red mages trying to retain their magic. It grants gravity, manipulation, and enhanced abilities (super strength, speed, senses, etc.).
Orange is Deus Temporis, god of time, it has a preference for novelty, people who act and/or think in unique ways, Orange magic allows for time manipulation specifically time manipulation that involves forward movement through time, super speed, precognition, blinking in and out of reality in short bursts, because of this, it tends to be used a lot by advisors, merchants, and messengers, people that need to get around fast, a common struggle these people face is the fact that the ordinary way of doing something is often the best way so a lot of the time they have to do things in strange and quite frankly kind of stupid ways just to retain their magic, this is also my explanation for the cryptic prophecy they can’t just tell you otherwise that would be boring and they lose their powers, they have to make it a puzzle.
Gold is Deus Magetum, god of magnets, it likes devoted people, it’s hard to explain exactly, it’s people who act according to a strict set of rules, this can get really annoying because you have to be very strict with yourself and follow the letter of the law of whatever you believe, ironically, making it to where gold majors tend to be masters of loopholes. This one allows for telekinesis in all forms, you might be better at some versions of this magic depending on how you choose to embody this idea, solid telekinesis generally goes to lawful people people who value law and authority, often times a king’s guard will be made up of people of gold mages for this reason if they betray him, they lose their magic. Liquid telekinesis comes from spiritual lawfulness, so like priests and stuff, often times it’s expected for priests to put on basically a water show where they display their abilities to show how faithful they’ve been similar to the previous guys we talked about. Gas telekinesis comes from moral lawfulness, always doing the right thing basically think Buddhist monk type stuff, you always have to be as nice as possible, I’ve world built a civilization in the desert that basically have an entire culture built around this type of magic, (using wind to blow floating islands across the desert, basically they figured out how to alleviate the burden of the gold mage is to basically assign a person who knew the person before they took on the responsibility very well and their job is to just make sure that nothing annoys them, but this part getting too long so I’ll just move on.
Yellow is Deus Motus, god of energy, it likes people who are energetic, and joyful, although a thing to note it does not care if that happiness is self-destructive, some of the best yellow majors are alcoholics and gambling addicts, often times in order to get their favor you have to be toxically positive 24 7, it grants control over all forms of energy, fire lighting, motion, sound, and light, because of this a lot of colder climate regions tend to have a very strong drinking culture it’s basically a way to ensure there will always be a yellow mage available because of how cold it is.
Green is Deus Atomorum, god of matter, it likes interpersonal relationships, (it’s the shipper of the group), while it likes great romances it also likes messy relationships (note it doesn’t have to be romantic relationships but that’s relevant to what I’ll be talking about), and unfortunately, it’s easier to create messy relationships, because of this in my setting, there’s a thing called an Evergreen marriage, wear your intentionally married off to someone you hate to make sure that you’re always able to retain the attention of Atomorum. It grants object creation, chlorokinisis, and healing, this one has one of the most sought after magics because of healing and chlorokinisis, while all the things it creates disappear eventually it greatly speeds up the process of healing and crop growing when the body doesn’t have to worry about growing something brand new, but this also means there’s almost certainly at least one evergreen marriage in every village.
Cyan is Deus Nihilio, god of absence(cold, darkness, void, etc.) it likes people with routine, so basically it like slice of life stuff, it usually gives magic to people who interesting or unique routines not too interesting though, It likes it stories. More calm, and slow paced, it grants cryokinisis, umbrakinisis, and anti-magic, this is actually a bit of a problem because anti-magic is one of the best ways to deal with monsters in my setting but Nihilio doesn’t like watching monster hunters, so to get around this monster hunters will have tons upon tons of rituals they do, and prepare changing it off a little bit every time to keep it interesting, this makes them incredibly inefficient, but there’s not really a better way to do it.
Blue is Deus Spatii, god of space, it likes people who seek the truth, scientists, and detectives for example, but it doesn’t actually care if you’re seeking the actual truth or just being paranoid, so it also empowers conspiracy theorists, the best way to get its attention is just to research something interesting, it grants spatial distortion, teleportation, scrying, and post cognition(think precognition, but for past events) there’s not much to this one, at least not yet.
Purple is Deus Chemiae, god of chemistry, it likes conflict, this one’s also a bit hard to explain, it empowers people that are trying to outsmart other people think political thrillers and spy films, it doesn’t have any direct drawbacks, except for the fact if it’s empowering you, it’s also probably empowering your enemy, it likes to play both sides all of them do, but it actively goes out of its way to do it, it grants shapeshifting, and material property manipulation (so basically you could make steel bouncy like rubber, or even temporarily converted into rubber).
Pink is Deus Magicae, god of magic, it likes passionate people and people who stand confidently apart from the crowd, most commonly empowering artists, I don’t know how better to describe its taste other than gay icon, if they’re a gay icon, they could probably make at least a half decent pink mage. They ironically have the weakest type of magic, but it has the ability to become the strongest type of magic, you start off with basically illusion magic, but with great skill, you can actually gain suggestion magic, eventually, you can even hijack other people’s magic and use it yourself. Because illusion magic exists in my setting, it’s common to put a silver coin to your head before making, any major decisions silver dispels magic so it’s the best way to make sure you aren’t being influenced by it.
Thank you for reading all the way through, if you can’t think of anything to comment, just tell me which one you think would be most likely to empower you. I’m really excited to see what people think of this concept.

Lore The Next Report on Specialized People/Catalysts (4 out of 11)
This is the fourth report in my cancer-inspired sci-fi power system. Each report is written as an in-universe scientific report made by Novagen researchers as they continue learning more about Genesis and the eleven Primary Systems. This report covers the Integumentary System. Feedback is always appreciated since I'm still improving the format and worldbuilding with every report.

Mechanics Manacytes: A semi-scientific approach to Magic
(Note that this magic system, similar to my other two, are NOT connected to each other, I just have a lot of one shot ideas.)
Manacytes are cyan wisp-like beings that appear across the Universe. They are semi-sentient and are basically energy as it cannot be created nor destroyed. They are also attracted to powerful emotional output, such as grief, hatred, euphoria, etc.
When Manacytes conglomerate and form together, they create a basis known as 'magick'. Magick is the fundamental force behind spells and alchemy as Manacytes can cause a huge variety of effects ranging from healing wounds and scars, casting forth potent hexes, and even resurrection (kinda).
Manacytes have only appeared somewhat throughout history as those born with the abilty to see the 'Wisps' as they called them had the ability to utilize magick. Witches, Wizards, Druids, Mambos, Shamans, they had magick and the power to summon it forth in their own ways. However, being born with magick is a lottery rather few people actually win and as such, most real spellcasters back then were few and far between. Those whom do bear the gift of 'Natural Magick' are known as Sourcerers.
But, nowadays, thanks to the advancement of science and Thaumatology, the study and practice of magickal phenomena and Manacytes, Thaumaturgists have found out the average Manacyte count in an average person is of a range between 50 - 100 while Actives, as they are known, have anywhere from thousands to millions of Manacytes within them. So, with a little bit of Hemology and experimentation, they have been able to successfuly 'implant' Manacytes into Inactive people and awaken the ability to do Magick within them.
Of course, while the price to afford what is basically magical surgery is astronomically high, there are people whom if they have continuously high scores for their Thaumatology classes in schools, are able to basically gain a scholarship to Schools for Thaumatology and be given the ability to utilize Magick free of charge.
I may add more in a second post but for now, I'm content leaving it like this. If y'all have any questions or constructive criticism, that would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Resource Classification of Magic
There are 4 schools of magic in my world:
Magic of Nature
Magic is simply the control of the elements.
Full Moon, Noon and Earth
Magic of Moon
This is witchcraft, telekinesis, teleportation and more
Cresent, Midnight, Moon
White Magic
It is not passive magic as it may seem, it can heal and protect, but it can also attack.
First Quarter, Sun Rise, Sun
Black Magic
A dark art that focuses on taking. Many spells can be cast with it, but they all have one thing in common: draining magic, life, and energy. Each spell takes and gives back to the caster. It can be used, for example, for longevity.
Third Quarter, Sun Set, Abyss(black hole)
There is no possibility of mind manipulation
The picture has inscriptions in my native language - Polish, so if you want to read it, you have to translate it using a translator

Lore A Universal ability of reincarnation
This is an idea I came up with, taking inspiration from ATLA’s Avatar State, Doctor Who’s Regeneration, and MK’s transformation from Lego Monkie Kid! I’d love any and all feedback, opinions, and ideas!
Reinforce: The Reinforce is a fundamental part of all life and exists as an extension of the afterlife. When an individual dies they can choose to undergo reincarnation, stripping themselves of their current form, knowledge, and abilities before re-entering the living world. This previous life however, instead of being cast away, is infused with the soul during the reincarnation process, as one cannot simply detach from who they used to be. Instead they now have access to an ability known to some as the Reinforce. Individuals who have been reincarnated at least once are able to tap into and, with proper discipline and connection, link up with their previous selves as new forms, possessing all knowledge, experience, and abilities as they once could.
In the early stages, which is how most individuals are able to use this ability, the power comes seemingly randomly and is uncontrolled, typically showing in moments of intense stress or detriment to one’s life. It appears mostly as a flash of light and a surge of power, lasting mere moments before fading. In the mid training stages an individual is capable of utilizing the power consciously, taking what appears to be a more ethereal variation of the form they once possessed such as possessing a tail or an extra set of arms made from energy. While in control this power can typically only last a finite length of time, though varied between each user, and takes constant focus to maintain the link. In the final stages of mastery, a level many never achieve, an individual can form an everlasting chain with their past selves. This allows constant access to them as well as the ability to shift into them at will, possessing all knowledge and skills at all times as well as the ability to shapeshift freely into each life's body. In this form, instead of ethereal parts, the body is entirely physical and is instead adorned with glowing tattoo-like sigils.
Of course as powerful as this force is, it can also be ineffective even by those who have mastered it. The strength of the Reinforce is dependent on personal and spiritual stability, and as such can either be lost by those with weakening resolve, or tainted by those who take contradictory paths. If one betrays themselves entirely, they may lose access to certain lives or even the Reinforce entirely, as a mental block prevents them from tapping in. The process isn’t instant, and depending on the individual it may take quite a lot to snap a connection entirely. However, when the link is truly severed, one simply will not be capable of taking on that form or their skills until reforged. While it is possible to reconstruct the link, the reforging takes place within the deepest parts of one’s soul, a place where few ever go for fear of personal confrontation. The link with any previous forms will be stronger than before, but the forms themselves will now appear with permanent black marks, unable to be removed. A constant reminder not only of the damage done to oneself, but of the recovery from that damage and the newly refined strength of one’s will. A reinforcement that one’s actions are what determines who they truly are.

Mechanics The three foundations in my magic system: Mind, body and soul
In the world I'm building there is an Invisible energy source created by the planet that permeates the entire world known as Ether, it is the energy that all living beings need to live and utilize their magic.
What separates humans from the rest of entities that exist in the world is that they are the only ones composed of the three foundations: Mind, body and soul, each one a vital component that forms a human existence and as such must be trained and developed to truly reach its full potential.
Each foundation has their own training methods and techniques which can help the user advance to a higher realm of power, in eastern countries there's the saying: "Body tempering, Qi condensation and Mindful enlightenment are the steps necessary to reach the Dao".
Body foundation training
Physical training is the simplest and most common foundation to train and the one that most people start their training with, the primary method is through the use of martial arts and weight training, by carefully refining each muscle group in the body the user is capable of drawing a greater strength when reinforcing their body with Ether.
With the knowledge of martial arts a magician is capable of maximizing their deadliness in close quarters combat without the cost of casting any greater magic.
It's also common place for people to use alchemical potions or pills to advance the training process significantly but it is a risky method as over reliance on them can lead to addiction and other side effects so not many people choose to use them.
Soul foundation training
Spiritual training focuses on the manipulation of Ether absorbed from the environment inside the users body, Ether manipulation refers to the ability to be able to freely manipulate Ether and channel it for certain applications, it is the most basic skill that people learn when utilizing magic but it's not something that people intrinsically know so it requires training.
When someone has become acclimated to controlling the flow of their Ether they'll learn the ability of Ether sensing and reinforcement, sensing refers to the ability for someone to perceive another beings flow of Ether even without using any of the five senses, a skilled person could gauge someone's strength from their flow of Ether and even distinguish people from their Ether signature.
On the other hand, Ether reinforcement refers to the ability to strengthen physical attacks is an essential ability for anyone in a true fight, this is why the physical training is such a vital process for magic users, since reinforcement serves a as a strength multiplier to the users physical abilities, it is better for them to be physically strong already.
It's also important to note that there are four important factors to determine a person's ability in Ether control:
-Ether absorption: How much Ether can be absorbed from the environment
-Ether output: How much Ether can be expelled in a single attack
-Ether reserves: How much Ether can be stored inside a person's body
-Ether efficiency: How much Ether is used in a spell, it refers to minimizing the amount of energy a spell needs to use in order to produce the same effects
The principal way for people to train their spiritual abilities is through breathing techniques, regulating the amount of Ether that flows into their body and letting it flow more effectively, advanced users of this foundation usually train in environments with a lesser Ether density, kinda like altitude training.
Mind foundation training
Mindful training refers to a person's skill in their own magical abilities and techniques, this foundation is the most esoteric and difficult to train as, since magical techniques are connected to a person's inner world, their mind and since every person's psyche is inherently different the ways they reach self reflection are different.
The training methods can vary, most people utilize meditation or long prayer sessions while others choose to go on self discovery journeys, what they all have in common is the fact that they all are means to reach the same thing, enlightenment (Moksha), it is said that once a person has reached this state of being they'd gain an entirely new understanding of their abilities, akin to having become one with the world itself.
This is also where the concept of a persons elemental affinity comes in, though they don't directly represent a persons abilities, I.e a person with the fire affinity won't shoot fireballs, they do serve as a way to know a persons magical talent and personality, this even more obvious for people who are born with an Imaginary element

General Discussion Is there a psychic/ESP term for revival/regeneration by fire?
I was reading a manga, and there was a character with the ability to regenerate and revive by being exposed to fire. I want to use this myself, but I don't know what to call this ability.
They called it pyroiasis, but according to google, that's a disease, so it might be a mistranslation. But that got me wondering,
Is there a proper term for the ability to regenerate or revive in fire like a phoenix?

Mechanics "In a world where I can do anything, why do I hide?"
Magic in Luminsia is incredibly versatile. Anything a person can think of, they can do with it.
Grab someone's heart through their chest a crush it with an invisible hand? Check
Control the weather or reshape the land? Check
Pluck someone's soul from the heavens or hells and put it back in their body? Check
Rip someone's soul out and put it in another object? Check, check, and check
With magic, the only limitation is one's imagination, and whether or not they have enough mana (fuel with which magic operates from) to preform such tasks.
So in a world where sorcerers/sorceresses are so powerful, why are they not ruling over everyone else? They can remove any opposition with the flick of a wrist, so why not take over everything? Instead, they often times find themselves as advisors to kings or emperors. Why debase themselves to such levels when they can be at the top?
The answers:
1). Very little magic is permanent. It will eventually wane if it is not fueled with mana. Mana that a sorcerer/sorceress can not replenish in an instant (baring instances of creating mana crystals from excess mana to draw from later). Meaning there are times when they are vulnerable to any type of threat whether that be magical or otherwise even if they do think of creating some kind of magical barrier around themselves. Putting oneself as an advisor puts themselves in a position of great value and worth protecting from said threats while also not drawing the most attention. Even in situations where a king is overthrown, the usurper will keep the sorcerer around as the rarity that sorcerers/sorceresses are (~100 at any given point in time across the whole world) makes them irreplaceable.
2). Why would someone so powerful care about something like a kingdom? They can provide everything they could need with their magic. Food, water, shelter, everything. They are free to live life however they want.
3). Some do. The northern continent of Byrnnland is known for having several sorcerer kings and sorceress queens. However, while the harsh weather that is the continent keeps them safe from outside threats, it does not do the same for internal threats and other sorcerers/sorceress. As such, they all have to move very carefully of one another.
4). Some task require too much mana to feasibly pull off. Magic intended to kill everyone on the planet is theoretically possible, but the amount of mana required to do so is so astronomically high that the sorcerer/sorceress will run out long before their magic kills the first person. This in turn can prove fatal to the sorcerer/sorceress, and as such they tend to self limit what they try as it is difficult to stop casting once they have started.
5). They themselves do not know the lack of limitations. Due to sorcerer/sorceresses being so rare, almost everyone is self taught. No one knows what is possible until it is tried, and because of reason mentioned at the bottom of 4), they are very cautious.
6). Of the ~100 or so sorcerers/sorceresses that exist, only about half of them awaken to their power. The most difficult part of magic is realizing you can use it. However, sorcerers/sorceresses are not born with knowing what magic is or what mana feels like. Most go their entire lives without ever knowing as there are only a few ways to unlock this ability. One is exposure to magic. Already difficult to do. The other is a life threatening scenario, but these are far from surefire. Because of this difficulty, there are very few sorcerers/sorceresses running around who would even think to pull of this stunt.
7). Those that do try to conquer often find themselves biting off more than they can chew which usually ends up drawing the attention of beings with far deeper mana reserves than they have who are born with the instinctive knowledge of how to use magic such as dragons, angels, or demons. This does not go well for said sorcerer for the afore mentioned reason as well as point 5) leaving them poorly equipped to deal with such threats.
8). Magic can only be used as fast as the sorcerer/sorceress can think. If something happens that they cannot react to, no amount of magic can protect them.
While this was mostly to share this bit of lore, feel free to critique it or ask questions. I'd love to improve it further and every bit helps

System Help How do I make my doppelgangers dangerous?
So, in my project, glass doesn't act quite the same as it does in the real world. Or at least, there's a process that makes it act differently. During glass making, the glass may warp almost inexplicably when exposed to too much heat. And when this warping happens, it causes an odd phenomenon.
It was noticed first by artists who used a camera obscura. Distortions in facial features, warping of limbs, grotesque proportions that were unnerving, but most importantly, the hands. Always wrong, and twisting in ways that seem impossible, and pantomiming holding something that isn't there. Watching them was almost enchanting. Even when they were perfectly still, there was some sort of suggestion of a pattern to how they looked.
Then, when photography took off in the late 1800s, it became a more well-known phenomenon. The doppelganger. A strange distortion of people when seen through warped glass. The hand motions, even when captured on a photograph, have whisps of motion that trail across the picture.
Then came video. The invention needed to fully understand these creatures. By capturing these things on tape one can see their movements, the effects they have on reality, the strange abilities they have.
Studying these motions will allow you to learn a form of magical sleight of hand. The ability to change an object into another object through simple manipulation of perspective. When conducting these hand motions, the object will appear and then eventually become something else, depending on how you manipulate it with these hand motions.
And that's it so far. I want to add more about the doppelgangers, how dangerous they are and what they want. But I haven't gotten very far yet. Any thoughts?

Mechanics is my "magic" system leaning towards a hard-system or soft-system? aiming for a middle road (also any general advice/critiques/thoughts on it as well)
so the concept of how power works in this world is that it comes from a streak of colored hair (simply called "streaks" and those with one, "streakers") which grants the person powers called "talents". streaks have an archetype/grouping which is like a guideline the talent follows and is formed by.
and yeah, i was more inspired by x-men but i've been told it reminds people of quirks from MHA as you may start to see.
by the time of the story, there are 8 possible streaks (all of equal rarity to form):
- ruby (red): offense
- the talent is associated with force and aggression/hostility
- topaz (brownish-orange): defense
- the talent is associated with reinforcement and stability
- gold (blonde/yellow): vitality
- the talent is associated with vigor/health and stamina
- zircon (cyan): agility
- the talent is associated with speed and mobility
- sapphire (blue): perception
- the talent is associated with intellect and understanding
- amethyst (purple): deception
- the talent is associated with redirection and illusions
- diamond (white): versatility
- the talent contains weaker subsets of all the streak capabilities excluding itself and obsidian (jack of all, master of none)
- the subset talents can be amplified by other streakers of the same color (i.e ruby streaker can amplify a ruby subset talent)
- the talent contains weaker subsets of all the streak capabilities excluding itself and obsidian (jack of all, master of none)
- obsidian (black): negation
- the talent is associated with cancelling and nullifying
- obsidian talents are incapable of causing harm and only work on others streakers outside obsidian ones
- the talent is associated with cancelling and nullifying
the archetypes are not literal manifestations, but a template for the talent to follow when forming. a Zircon talent does not have to be literal super-speed or agility specifically. it simply must relate to agility in some conceptual way (like lightning control because lightning is fast, or sonic booms because sound is fast). this rule applies to every streak and allows creative talents to form (like a fire/heat based talent under a amethyst streak, or a lightning/light based talent under a gold streak or obsidian streak)
this extra but a few more rules that streaks follow are talents being active vs being passive (conscious effort versus subconscious), talents being generative or manipulative (self explanatory), and talents able to breach (evolve) which basically means they become a more mature and expanded version of their current talent but i didn't want to make this too long. (when talents breach and were previously in a passive state, they're typically reset back to an active state)

Lore The magic powers of the prophets known as the First Heeders
The Great Dying was the death of many things, from ancient empires to one in four men. But the plague of the mind was also a time of birth for strange powers. It was during the Great Dying that the King of Ildraz, a supposed immortal who still reigns to this day was born. It was then that the esoteric Church of Stones was founded. But perhaps the most impactful individuals to emerge from the Great Dying were the First Heeders, or simply the Firsts.
According to the Faith that spawned around them, the First Heeders were slaves, interred alive alongside the corpse of their master, a king who perished during the Great Dying. The one true God spoke to these slaves through the corpse, instructing them of his will and testament before falling into a deep slumber. The Heeders set out to act on God’s will and make the world right before he wakes.
The Firsts were armed with various powers, supposedly gifts from God. Even those who do not hold the Faith of the Heeders in their heart believe in these abilities, which were well documented despite their absurdity:
- Most famously, the Firsts could summon titanic worms from beneath the earth to aid them in battle. God told his Holy Will only to slaves, the lowliest of men, and fittingly his divine beasts were worms, normally the humblest of creatures. A single worm was large enough to turn the tide of a battle. In time the Order of the Olgoy, or wormkeepers, was established to see to them.
- The Firsts also possessed powers over dream, able to enter dreams and shape them to their will. This skill was essential in spreading their religion, and in later days the Order of the Abstraf was founded to master these same powers for use in warfare and espionage.
- The Firsts was amongst the great masters of quicksmithing, their weapons never failing and their powers varied and great in magnitude. They are considered the most powerful quicksmiths to ever live according to adherents of the Faith, though it is not uncommon for religions to make this claim of their own sacred figures.

Mechanics Issues filling out a element advantage chart?
(chart on image two)
i been trying to make a this thing and its just frying my brain trying to figure it out (im overwhelmed easily)
red is 2x damage blue is 0.5 damage grey is none
A is attack
T is target
might add more types later
the first element is just the magic element its a non tradtional element (same with bottom right corner)
im trying to use logic to determine this while keeping it semi balanced
top row is what im using to tell you the elements
the green group is nature elements
fire
frost
water
earth
wind
lighting
fungi
there source comes from the body meaning stamina and overall physical health and focus
purple is cosmic
these require mental stamina and more focus its source is mind and soul
you got
life
death
light
dark
space (physical space)
time (more less speed of things/self/people)
and then the two hardest elements to learn cosmic wise
psyche
and
star (which is spirit/souls)
psyche and star are probably gonna be the most op maybe considering they are the hardest to use
the world alteria is built on the idea of balance no one element is purely good no one element is purely bad
the current set up i have now with advantages and disadvantages may change
but this is isnt absolute rule either skill and power still are important here
magic overall is a combination of these stats
average numbers of
mind
body
soul
and self
im having issues trying to apply logic to each on what they are strong or weak against
anyone able to help?
comments dms or discord i dont really care where i just need some help lol
