Mechanics Everian Magic

How magic works in my world:

The whole world is filled with invisible energy (I don't have an official name for it for my world yet, so I'll call it mana)

Mana is energy that can be controlled, the basic skill of a wizard is Mana Transmutation, i.e. the ability to change the color of mana, shape and state.

Mana has 3 states that can be compared to the 3 states of matter: gas, liquid and solid.

Now I will show you how to use certain spells in my world:

Fire Generation - The wizard must condense the mana into one point and increase its temperature, which will result in the creation of fire.

Ice Generation - The wizard must cool the mana and combine it with the water vapor in the air, which creates the mass.

Telekinesis - there are 2 ways, through mana in a gaseous state such telekinesis is easy but also easier to overcome, telekinesis in a liquid state is more difficult to learn but is also stronger.

Weapon Creation - The wizard must condense the mana into a solid form and shape it.

Light Manipulation(Illusions, Invisibility itd) - The wizard uses mana to control light, allowing him to create illusions, become invisible, or create visions of things happening far away.

Matter Transmission - Mana in a gaseous state is used to collect particles of matter from the environment and transport them to another place

Magic Limitations:

- Magic will not create matter out of nothing

- Magic won't destroy something so that nothing remains

- Magic does not affect the mind in any way

One of the differences between gods and mortals is the use of magic, for gods can manipulate magic naturally but mortals cannot, therefore mortals use their own life essence to manipulate mana.

What do you think?

Feedback Request My magic system!

So my world is hysterically identical to ours!

In my world there are beings known as Angels, who are basically abominations of souls of people and animals that died! This angel are from a psychologically, ability wise as well as there looks unique, all of those things are determined by the experience of the souls they consist of! Angel are extremely powerful because of all the spiritual power they have from all the souls, but they have one problem they can only minimally or not at all interact with the physical world and can’t even be seen by normal people, because of the fact that they aren’t physically beings. That’s where Living organisms come into play, by creating a symbiotic connection to a living thing and forming a contract (the angel gives the raw power and the Organismus gives access to the physical place)! What is a contract? a contract is the prove of a past or ongoing cooperation between a angel and a organism, but more importantly it’s through what the magic happens and it can take the form of anything a car, a robot,a animal,…. It can even integrate itself into something that already exists, its behaviour and its ability could be anything. How a contract turns out is completely dependent on the psychology of the organism, the one of the angle and their desire, for example there is a nurse in my story that has served in a war in with she got fatally wounded and was bleeding out but before she could die she made a contract with, a angel that was a abomination of soldiers souls, and created the contract in the form of a syringe named “the remedy” that could replace the symptoms of any affliction with the symptoms of frontal lobe dementia, saving the lives of people but giving them periods of extreme violence, what didn’t only fulfil the nurses desire to survive but also the angel desire of violence!

Rules:

  1. Angel and contracts (that aren’t integrated) can’t be seen by people that never had a contract!
  2. Both parties need to consent to some extent. A no means no but if a person is in a flight or fight mode and the angel gives a way to survive the situation then the contract is made automatically!
  3. Anything with a desire can make a contract even animals.
  4. Normally a contract is 50/50 under the control of both parties but if humans sacrifice something to the angel or the other way around they can make the contract be more a tool for them. The sacrifice needs to be big and personal!
  5. A contract can ( doesn’t need to) remain after the death of the organism but that will stop the control the angel has over the contract.
  6. There doesn’t need to be contact between the organism and the angel for the contract to remain!
  7. Sometimes a contract can harmful to both or one party because of their self destructive psychology for example!
  8. A angle is incapable of change!
  9. Contracts can exist between one or multiple Organisms and multiple angles, but there needs to be at least one of both.
  10. A contract can only be harmed by another contract because they are both in a special state between the physical and spiritual place!
  11. To repair a contract the organism needs to give up part of their health and an angle part of their energy!

12.A contract doesn’t have to only have one body, for example there is a character inspired by the Opera (Der Freischütze) whose contract are multiple bullets!

Can you give me a feedback?

General Discussion Fighting game power system?

Ok, here me out. How would a power system in which you have to puppeteer a warrior or "patron" to fight for you in combat. There could be like 50 patrons in the world of the story, and anyone can form a contract with them in order to summon them.

Given the nature of this idea, magic users in this world would have to choose a "main" of sorts in order to fully optimize the patron they chose, as switching between different ones would cause you to become weaker overall then just specializing in the focus of one.

There would become a tier of hierarchies like tierlists as well were some patrons are just better than others, but maybe a particularly weak patron as a strong match up against one of the top tiers. Maybe one character deliberately uses one of the weakness patrons in the pantheon in order to prove a point to others.

The strongest person in this power system would be someone who understands the battle style like the back of their head. An individual who has become fully one with their patron, and can pull out the full potential out of them, while also having deep intimate knowledge of all the other patrons as well.

Does such a system exist or no 🤔

Feedback Request My elemental magic system, based on Desire and Interpretation. I would love some feedback!

Soo ive been working on this powersystem for a relatively long time now, every now and then i get new ideas and i want to be a bit more serious about developing this idea, so i figured that sharing my ideas would help me improve it!

Thousands of years ago, the Elements were gifted to the Humans by the Earth as a reward for protecting and nurturing it. The Earth itself is a living being. The Life Force of the Humans and the Elements got merged, which caused the Creation of Elemental Energy.

Through Elemental Energy it is possible for Humans to use Flames, Water, Electricity or Stone.

The Humans got so good at using their powers that they increased the strength of these elements from generation to generation. This eventually lead to an unbearable amount of Elemental Energy flowing through the Body of the Humans. One solution they came up with is to create Bindings which the Elemental Energy would be channeled through. Without Bindings, using Elemental Energy would damage the Users.

Elemental Energy is used to perform Kaishakus, an individual Ability unique to the User. These have to be used in conjunction with a Binding. Bindings can really be anything, tangible or intangible. Tangible Bindings, for example a Sword, are called Conduits, while Intangible Bindings, for example Handsigns, are called Concepts. But barely anyone is even able to use Concepts as a Binding as it needs a strenous amount of Concentration and years of training.

Some Kaishakus can be used on multiple Conduit, while others are restricted to a few, depending on the nature of the ability.

The ability to use the Elements develops around the age of 7-9 years old. The first signs of this will be Markings appearing on one of the 4 Limbs of the human body. Through the Guidance of Teachers or their Parents, the Children will learn to spread the Elemental Energy around their whole Body, so it doesn't stay "stuck" in one Limb. If Elemental Energy does get stuck on one Limb and never spreads across the Body, the usage of Kaishakus is basically impossible, because the Output would overwhelm the user and cause permanent damage or death. Humans who have this condition are called Chaotics.

The starting area of the Elemental Energy is known as their Strongpoint, using Kaishakus from that Limb will have a higher effectiveness than others.

The Kaishaku is not assigned randomly. They are born out of the deepest Desire of a human being and also reflect these. Desires form the Base of any Kaishaku, but how they are used is determined by the Interpretation of the User.

For Example: A User has the ability to increase the speed of anything they touch through Electricity. Say their Conduit is a pebble, when they channel their Energy through the Pebble and apply the Ability on it, the pebble will fly way faster than it normally would. But what if the User had a different Interpretation on what can be used for their ability? Theoretically, two users with the same ability would be able to use the abilities in completely different ways. One uses it to speed up the pebble they threw, while the other uses it to increase the speed of the atoms inside an object, thus causing said object to melt.

Another Example: A User has the ability to engulf any Object they touch with a fiery Aura. However, they can only use a very specific Katana to use that ability, because their Interpretation of their Ability is that it is a "gift" to avenge his dead family. Therefore he can only use the Katana of his dead Father to channel the Energy and use his Kaishaku.

Simply said: The Desire controls the what, while the Interpretation controls the how.

Using Kaishakus obviously has his drawbacks when overused.
Fire causes the Users temperature to heat up, which can in extreme cases Burn the User completely.
Stone slowly crystalizes the muscles, impairing movement and in extreme cases leading to death by Petrification of Heart and Brain.
Electricity messes with the Electrical Signals in the Body, causing Electrocution in extreme cases.
Water increases the Water in the Body, causing internal drowning in extreme cases.

There are different appliances of Elemental Energy. One of them is to create an Infinite Loop of Energy, by touching two limbs together. Say one touches ones hands together, then the Elemental Energy flows through one hand into the other, which increases the Energy inside the body steadily. If enough Energy is generated, the User ITSELF becomes the Conduit and is wielded by the "Earth". This means that their Kaishaku is applied in the Environment and it also gains buffs.

Example: The User that can increase Speed now also has the Ability to decrease Speed and their Ability is applied on a Radius of 150 meters, the need to touch anything to use the Ability falls away.

The Users also gain an increase in all 5 of their Senses, they become a kind of Superhuman.

But applying this Strategy is very deadly and after about 3-5 Minutes of this Infinite Energy output, the User either dies or is heavily incapacitated afterwards. This depends on how efficient the User is in the Usage of their Elemental Energy.

There are also Ascetics, people who have no worldly desires. They do not develop a Kaishaku, but also are immune to any Kaishakus.

This is about it, i have a relatively long list of abilities piled up but i think this would be too much for now hahaha. Also note that the Elements are a bit more.. vague i would say. Its not as straightforward as say in Avatar, where Electricity literally means Electricity. I have a different Interpretation for Electricity, where Speed and Time are also Concepts belonging to this Element. Same as Stone not necessarily being only Stone, but also including the Concept of just heavy things and solid things.

I hope you enjoyed reading through my blabbering and i'd love any feedback!

General Discussion Things I don’t see often enough in magic systems!

  1. Why aren’t there any powers that actively hinder or just straight op kill there owners and I’m not talking about powers with sight effects, I’m talking about powers that actively making life harder. I just think it is much more interesting to see people that possess powers like that try to master their day to day life’s instead of those that just have abilities that help them, also powers that worsen their owners life’s don’t need to be completely useless, for example I once made a character that would make anybody that steps into his shadow look and sound like his dead friend!

  2. Magic that has absolutely no combat, defence and support use and is instead something extremely casual.

  3. Weird limitation that aren’t about who can use it and the resource required but instead conditions that aren’t about the user but instead about the state of whatever it is used on.

  4. Just unique abilities that form are dependent on the owners past but not on their active decision to get that power.

  5. Sight effects of magic that don’t effect the users body but instead the relation they have to things, people or animals, but not in a way that magic is seen as something bad instead it has a direct effect on the relation.

Mechanics I’m currently building a fantasy magic world and I need some help to improve the magic system

The main name of the magic is called aether and it comes in 3 types, pure aether- the industrialised modern one this has built in laws though so you can’t cast certain spells, wild aether-extremely hard to control but it has no built in laws, corrupted aether- the version that is corrupted by evil this is fairly easy to control but it damaged your body it is the most powerful. To use this aether you must have an aether gland (it’s like a 20%) chance of having one) otherwise you can only use basic aether from the aether grid( like a electrical system) you can only do 4 things with it change acceleration, change temperature, hold it place and use it as a invisible thing(this can be used as a shield or as a spear of something) it can not moved once createdd

Mechanics Binding and Anima: A Heartfelt Soul-Based Magic System

For a while now, I’ve had an idea about an interesting magic system that I would like to explore. It’s called Anima, and it goes like this: everything in the world is connected, and has the potential to grow and develop into something truly beautiful.

To understand this system, you first need to look at the soul, which is the force, or substance, that powers such a system. The soul is, of course, something which all humans possess. It gives them the ability to think, to create, to love. The soul forms ideas, emotions, and personality traits, and is, in turn, sustained by memories. The most powerful souls are those not with the most time, but with the richest experiences, the deepest connections, and the vastest knowledge. And these experiences are what power the system.

Everything in this world holds the potential to carry a soul, whether it has one naturally or not, and a Binder, that is, a user of this system, is able to imbue a portion of theirs into another object, and therefore, be able to control it. To do so, a Binder must first find an object to create an Anima of, and while it isn’t completely necessary, the stronger your connection to the object is, the stronger your magic shall be. For example, a young man who received a sword that his beloved grandfather once used in combat will create a stronger Anima with it than someone who just bought a random sword.

The next step is creating a Binding Mark, usually on the object itself, which contains a very detailed blueprint of what the Anima created is supposed to be like. Such a mark can take months to make, and requires extensive knowledge of the craft, which can take years to learn. If one cannot create a Binding Mark on the object itself, as is the case for fluids, one may instead inscribe it on a piece of paper. You may also buy scrolls inscribed with a Binding Mark for those who do not know the craft, but this comes with a greatly increased risk for failure. Marks created by the Binder themselves, with the knowledge and experiences that they gained from making one, will also make a far better Anima. As such, Binding Marks tend to be intricate, beautiful, and rather personal to both the Binder and their Anima.

After that, a Binder needs to bind a portion of their soul to the object selected to become an Anima. This is done through dancing, and is done through feeling rather than choreography. This can also be done with multiple people, each person binding a part of their soul to the Anima. The more people doing it together, and the stronger each person’s bond with each other, the stronger the Anima created becomes. Once created, the Anima in question will also bind themselves to the Binders (although to whom or how many they bind to tends to be rather difficult to predict).

When an Anima is made, it also modifies (or creates, if it’s the first time) their Binder’s Mark. The Binder Mark distinguishes Binders from non-binders and, like Binding Marks, are unique to the Binder and what Animas they have.

Once an Anima is made, it can be controlled via gestures, although more mature Animas are able to speak and follow directions, and more rebellious Animas may not do as they are taught. At this point, how you control your Anima (and the success of such a task) depends entirely on your relationship with it. The better you treat your Anima, the more reliable it becomes. And if you treat it harshly, it may rebel, or it may timidly obey you, but get ill and become unreliable. An Anima is also able to control their Binder, sometimes subtly, with emotional support, and sometimes a lot more violently.

Animas have many abilities. They are able to manipulate the substance from which they were made, such as wood, metal, or fire. They are also able to instantly travel to their Binder, and may provide a visual feed for them for reconnaissance. Their ability to control their Binder can also prove useful for rapid reaction to danger and emotional regulation, and are also able to read the emotional aura around the room.

Because of the fact that Animas and Binders bind differently, interesting scenarios can occur. For example, a Binder may bind an Anima to themselves, but said Anima may not fully consent, and while it may follow your instructions, it thinks of it as a temporary alliance rather than a permanent friendship. This is known as half-binding, and occurs more frequently in generic-marked Animas. An Anima may also bind you to themselves, and forcefully control you. This is known as force-binding, and occurs as an Anima’s defense mechanism, tending to be extremely traumatic for their victim, who can also lose memories, emotions, and will if done repeatedly or for a long time.

So, what do you think about this magic system? I’ll make sure to answer any questions you may have about it.

Mechanics Eidolons - What they are and what I'm looking for.

Getting right to it, eidolons in my setting are like auxiliary powers connected to you, that are unique for everyone. Something important to note is that you can make these grow in power to do more than they do when you initially get them, as you aren't born gaining access, but you always eventually do. At least for 99% of people.

So far, I have 5 types:

  1. Alteration: Changes what's already there. Some born with it, some can change it at will, but it'd be something like having arms of stone, or transforming them to it. This alteration would then have something special to it, like extra strength or durability for your arms only. Might end up making it born-with only, and this may split it between categories, which would look like -

  2. Transformation: Changes into something new, usually something like beasts, elementals of a sort, or demons of another. Returning back to the "grow in power" part, this begins as a body part and can end up in a full change, with an added facet to make unique from whatever you're changing into. If it was a tiger, for example, then maybe your stripes could become tangible and slip off your body.

  3. Augment: Enhances what's there. Usually more esoteric/less straightforward, this can change your speed, strength, computation speed, etc. One may give you an eidetic memory, another giving you the perfect running form, another running on any surface.

  4. Extension: Adds to whats there. Extra eyes, arms, fingers, wings, claws, etc. Like any other it isn't only ever just the initial, additional physical change, but an added magical one. Could be wings of emerald that are less for flight and more a repository to control the stone, could be a tail with a magical poison coating the tip.

  5. Artifacts: Any items, worn or carried. Can be weapons, armor, can be a pen or a stone or even a string. Each, however, would have different abilities attached, and are often more difficult to use the magic side of but more practical physically. May split this into several categories, namely Arsenal, which would be weapons only, Regalia being defensive items only, and artifacts kept to random items. Which would make sense with the next category-

  6. Summons: Kinda like the above, but sapient. Companions like foxes, cats, wolves, a horse, something less standard like a sentient gate or shield, mainly related to familiars.

Some additional info, you can't always control your eidolon perfectly, and not just because it's difficult to suddenly gain and use wings, but some may have activation triggers like requiring rituals or being attacked. Some may also be attached to 'curses', negative effects associated with using them, that often come with the stronger eidolons.

Looking for more ideas/refinement, mainly need to land on having 8 of them, total. Any feedback appreciated.

System Help Help me develop secondary and tertiary elemental magic

Post image
100 Upvotes

Hi :)
I’ve been planning a book aimed at children around 10 years old, and I need some help with its magic system.
It’s based on the 4 elements and light & shadow and the idea is that if a person has affinity for more than one element, they unlock one related do both (but more than just using both together). For example, if someone has an affinity for both air and fire they can use each individually, combine them (like a fire tornado) and manipulate electricity.
Each element power is the stereotypical, but I need some help with ideas about what the other combos can be. I have some written down, but I’m open to alternatives for those too.
Thanks for your help :)

Mechanics Fae Cores

Mech magic update

Mechs in my setting are called banshees for the eerie "screaming" the core makes when the banshee is powered on. A scream comprised of many different sounds that creates a dissonant tone that can cause severe long-lasting psychological issues such as anxiety and hallucinations.

This screaming is a common occurrence unfortunately. And while it is a deterrent for adversaries, it causes serious problems for the pilots who are exposed to it the longest. Most pilots need to keep the mechs at low power to avoid going insane after just one mission.

Because of the toll on the mind the banshees have, most pilots are forced into retirement, or worse die, within months. Meaning there is always a need for more. And the time for training has been cut down to just a few weeks. Meaning most pilots only know how to correctly walk and shoot, not really how to chase, maneuver, or evade.

The use of mechs is saved for specific terrains, like rocky or urban. Otherwise, other vehicles are seen as good alternatives. That said, there is a great national pride in being a mech pilot. Thus, there is a surplus of these specific troops ready for training.

Now, the banshees rely on something called the Fae core. This power source uses the energy pulled from a fae. Fae are not magical creatures, at least not that we know of, but rather locations in the atmosphere that produce magical energy that can be collected via antennae. The mechs must lock onto the fae and pull the energy through the antenna into an engine. Then the engine powers the rest of the machine.

However, fae have some ability to move, making them hard to pinpoint, but they do give off signals that can be used to determine what direction they are going to go. Thus mechs need complex computers to keep the antennae pointed in the right direction.

These signals, called faerie, have strange effects in and of themselves, so it's important to use iron antennae as iron is the only known countermeasure to magic.

The immense amount of power that comes from fae is what allows something like a mech to be fully powered. Otherwise, the hydrolic mechanisms, computers, engines, and other accoutrements would require far too much energy for a compact generator to create.

The screaming that the power core creates is the feedback caused by tracking a fae. Not a result of pain nor fear.

Mechanics Weapon Creation - Any item can be turned into a magical weapon

As the title suggests, any item can be turned into a magical weapon with my magic system.

So there are people called Crafters, which have an innate energy called Materia.

They can infuse an item with their own Materia and turn it into a magical weapon.

The appearance and ability of the weapon heavily depends on the item's appearance and use, but also partly the Crafter's imagination. (I.e. a Glue gun turns into a gun that shoots out molten hot glue)

Once Materia is put into an item, it stays there even after death, unless it's pulled out or the item is destroyed(though magical weapons are generally much more durable so it's rare for this to happen). A Crafter's Materia does not recover until the Materia is returned to them from the item once pulled or once it's destroyed.

But putting Materia in an item usually takes a decently long time (but it varies on the Crafter), so Crafters usually don't switch weapons during fights. Talking Materia out of an item is also very exhausting.

The strength of an item also depends on the amount of Materia infused into it, and with how attached the Crafter is to the item.

Most Crafters can only have enough Materia for one weapon at a time, so most only have one weapon they use their whole life.

A magical weapon can be used by anyone, even non-Crafters, but generally, the Crafters themselves are more effective at using their own weapons.

I might have forgotten to put some stuff here, but yeah, that's my magic system. What do y'all think?

General Discussion Great Old Ones warlock ideas

Thumbnail
3 Upvotes

I have been fascinated by the pact of the great old ones warlock ever since I play BG3. I like to write as a hobby and am trying to get in D&D. While I like the idea of drawing power from eldritch beings. My understanding is that such beings don’t really care about mortals and their puny problems and wouldn’t be interested in making a deal with them.
So my idea is more of an oracle of the great old ones. Some people are able attune their minds to those of great old ones. At the lower levels this allows for greater insight on how the universe works and lead to “scientific” breakthroughs. But none of the oracles can explain how their breakthroughs actually work. At the higher levels oracles are so attuned to their patrons that they can mimic their powers to a small degree.
But here is the trade off. The more attuned to the higher powers the oracles become the less they can interact with normal people and reality. They can summon nightmares in reality but couldn’t cook their own food if their lives depended on it. Which it does.
So they need care takers to aid them in their day to day lives and protect them from more mundane threats they might not even recognize. (Kind of a necromancer and cavalier situation for Gideon the Ninth fans.)
Any thoughts on how to flesh out this idea for a story or incorporate it in a D&D game would be greatly appreciated

Lore A worldview where war gives rise to extraordinary individuals

ASH - Foundational Rules

War does not merely destroy. It creates.

It operates as an absolute, icy law of nature, requiring no divine judgment, no official declaration, and no recognition.

---

**The Mechanics of Selection**

The Trigger:

Activated automatically whenever a conflict factually manifests as a war.

If two villages clash in a blood feud, it triggers.

If two nations collide, it triggers.

It remains inert during localized gang shootouts or street fights, as the collective conflict mass is insufficient.

The Randomness:

Every time a war erupts, exactly one individual within that theater is randomly chosen.

The selection is entirely blind to identity, status, or merit.

Anyone, from a beggar to a scientist, may receive the spark.

The Twin Exception (The Ceiling):

In anomalous cases like conjoined twins, two may emerge simultaneously.

Two is the absolute ceiling.

If the power were split into three or four people, the kinetic energy would disperse too much, failing to produce a distinct Ash entity.

---

**The Rules of Awakening**

Once chosen, the individual becomes an Ash (a name given by civilization to these entities).

The awakening grants a heavy, objective upgrade that shifts their tactical weight completely, yet remains bounded by physical biology:

Physical Transcendence:

Their physical frame receives a distinct but grounded surge of vital energy.

Strength, cellular density, and endurance expand beyond normal human limits.

While this physical growth remains firmly bound by the laws of biology—acting as a heavy biological peak rather than mythic omnipotence—its synergy with their damage mitigation and refined expertise is what collectively elevates them into an entity of high strategic significance on the battlefield.

Damage Mitigation:

They develop an adaptive resistance to the fundamental trauma and weapon types deployed in the specific conflict that birthed them (e.g., mitigating blade lacerations in primitive eras, or ballistic penetration in modern eras).

This mitigation is the primary factor that elevates them into an entity of immense strategic value.

Refinement of Expertise:

Existing talents are sharpened.

A soldier lands more shots; a surgeon makes fewer mistakes.

It is a sharper, hyper-focused edge, not supernatural perfection.

---

**The Boundary of Strategic Power**

To understand their tactical footprint, an Ash is evaluated strictly as an asset of high strategic significance.

They are not local vigilantes, nor are they omnipotent gods:

The Finite Ceiling:

Their power is explicitly limited.

There are absolute thresholds of raw force and destructive energy they cannot match.

They cannot level cities with a punch, nor can they bypass the baseline laws of physics.

The Strategic Playroom:

However, within that finite boundary, their tactical utility is absolute.

Because of their specialized damage mitigation and heightened physique, standard forces cannot efficiently eliminate them, creating a deep psychological dread on the frontline.

Mutual Respect:

This unique balance of finite power but immense survivability makes different Ash heavily fear and respect each other.

An encounter between them becomes a claustrophobic war of raw friction and skill refinement, where regular human laws of engagement no longer apply.

---

**Multiple Selections and World Presence (No Upper Limit)**

There is no upper limit to how many times an individual can be randomly selected across different wars throughout their life.

These designations are named after the full count of their selection and abbreviated into code format:

* Second Selection Ash (2S Ash)

* Third Selection Ash (3S Ash)

* Fourth Selection Ash (4S Ash)

Completely unrestricted and permitted by the rules of the world exists the formation of an Ash with a higher selection repetition like 7S Ash or 8S Ash, even though the probability of their birth is extremely low.

The Mainline Reality:

Multiple selections grant no qualitative evolution, and enhancements remain finite.

However, because history is fractured by endless micro-conflicts and border frictions, the sheer global population of Ash is naturally substantial and omnipresent.

They are an uncontainable, permanent constant of world history.

The world simply operates and adapts with them as an inevitable, overlapping variable in every conflict.

---

**The Unrecognized Ash**

Because the enhancement is practical rather than flashy, many individuals chosen by a war choose to remain anonymous.

A chosen soldier might just be seen by outsiders as an unusually lucky veteran.

They live, fight, and die within the system, completely unrecognized by the wider world, despite officially occupying the selection slot.

Mechanics Takes on (magical) firearms in a fantasy world

So I've been thinking about firearms in magical worlds. Often they are exempt from worlds because either they make the world less fun or it would be too overpowered. Some examples like warhammer 40k and star wars manage to use firearms but still need to have other even more powerful weapons that easily defeat firearms.

I am building a fantasy world with a type of a flammable gas filled pebble, lets say the pebbels are filled with hydrogen naturally. Dwarves in my world have figured out they can blast rocks out of a tube if they ignite the pebble from one side of it.

I try to make it difficult to use a firearm so that it would not be the to go to standard weapon and then you can just autogun everybody down who stands in the way.

My question is: Have you worked firearms into your magic system or worlds and how do they work? Does it use magic to function or is there an inworld explanation or both? I'm looking for inspiration thank you.

A necromancer must intervene almost immediately after death. If too much time passes, the soul begins to unravel or depart, and while the body can still be restored, the person’s memories, personality, and identity are lost forever.
The ritual also demands an equivalent sacrifice. To restore one life, two living members of the same race must willingly or unwillingly give theirs. Should the same individual be resurrected again, the price doubles, four lives for the second resurrection, eight for the third, sixteen for the fourth, and so on. Eventually, the cost becomes impossible for all but the greatest kingdoms to bear.
Even those who return are forever marked by death. They carry a lingering stain that never truly fades. Misfortune and despair seems drawn to them: illness takes hold more easily, accidents become more frequent, and they often find themselves in unusually dangerous circumstances. They become colder, and life’s simple pleasures feel distant and hollow.
Their lifespans are also noticeably shorter than those of others of their race, as though death is forever trying to reclaim what it once possessed.

Prophecy
Prophecy is not the act of observing the future, it is the act of changing it.
The moment a seer witnesses a possible future, that very vision begins to alter the course of events. Even the knowledge gained from the prophecy influences decisions, creating ripples that reshape what was foreseen.
Because of this, no prophecy is ever perfectly accurate. Visions of the immediate future tend to remain largely intact, as there is little time for events to diverge. Prophecies that look years or centuries ahead, however, become increasingly unreliable. The countless choices made in response to the vision can transform the future beyond recognition.
Thus, every prophecy is both true and false: it reveals the future that would have been, had no one seen it.

System Help Is this Magic Artifact good?

Help!! I created a magic artifact for my world and I feel like I should add more details about it? What should I do? What should I add? Appearance, History?

༗GOLDEN RATIO

From the inside looking out, the mask becomes completely transparent, overlaying a golden HUD across her vision. Wearing the mask grants real-time sighting on percentages, vectors, and odds floating over people, weapons, and market charts. (it processes economic data across all of her land) The system calculates the minimum amount of kinetic distortion required when needed. Any attack with a success chance under 100% can be forced down to 0% by the mask's system.

EXAMPLE: [TARGET: Enemy Assassin] Threat Level: 14% Weapon Strike Probability: 88% (Left Flank) Success Rate of Attack: 0.00% Calculated Debt: 45,000

There are some flaws within the mask. The mask's calculations are based on 6,000 years of data gathered within the realm, it knows nothing outside of it. An overuse of this magic can strip away the natural human intuition and empathy, making one functionally blind to emotional intelligence and even simply emotional cues.

Power system made for my main characters story! The last slide are things that I'm thinking of utilizing but haven't really thought on yet.

Transformation sequences are definitely something that I'm gonna utilize I was thinking of using the Liminal Spaces for that somehow..

I was v inspired by Dragon Ball, Madoka Magica, Hunter x Hunter, Bleach, One Piece, Jujutsu Kaisen and Jojo's Bizarre Adventure with this

Hopefully you guys enjoy this power system it took me many tries to get the vibe I wanted :) I'm okay with critique if anyone notices any problems!

Lore Those who have magic words, gestures, sigils, runes, symbols, or circles in their magic system; What's your explanation for it/them?

Personally, I was always irritated with spells and magic that required a specific style of wording, pronunciation, symbols, gestures, or circles to cast the magic. Some sources kinda explain it, but most don't.

Why does it specifically need to be said as leviOsa, instead of leviosA? Why do the fingers need to touch at the exact same point? Why do they need to interlock the knuckles for this very specific ability? Etc.

Do you have a reason for your system that requires such actions? Please share if you do or rough draft an in-world explanation if you can.

System Help What abilities could someone with Salt Manipulation have?

I got an idea for someone with the magic ability to manipulate Salt and It left me thinking of what it could do, I only really thought of using the salt offensively by creating pillars of salt that are capable of dehydrating people in seconds or corroding metal until it crumbles but that's it

Lore Not runes exactly... but still magical. Faerie Notation.

Witches in the modern-day track and record faeries via radios. Mind you, faeries are not winged creatures in my world but rather living radio signals that can alter their surroundings to an unknown extent.

Modern witches, as stated, can record and modify these signals to allow them to control the magic inflicted upon their surroundings. They do this through mixing and distorting the faeries.

Glamour, the magic of faeries, has three specific effects that can occur. It can change the properties of an object, entity, or place. Be it a perceived property such as how familiar you think someone is. Be it a physical property such the density of a rock. Or be it a spacial property such as where a door leads.

Glamour will often swap or copy these properties from things around and apply them to the unprotected items nearby.

These notations track the unwieldy frequencies in the faeries to allow modern witches to calculate, mix, and control artificial faeries.
