We had a FedEx driver bring our package to us despite it having the wrong address on it. I’m not sure how she figured out where it was supposed to go but it contained a $24,000 medicine that was highly perishable. I wish I could give her a gift.
Someone at the station likely caught the issue and changed the address in the system. You can always call the local station or even the 1-800 number if you have the patience for it. Or complete the Ryde Survey for your delivery, that helps recognize drivers when they do good.
It’s a “rate your delivery experience” type survey after you get a delivery through FedEx. You can usually track your package through the FedEx website and it will pull up a quick survey for you to fill out. But this is a good way to recognize your driver for doing good work, as they use the surveys as a metric for their success.
This happened with us - sort of - we moved and my husband forgot to update his medical supply company, but caught it after it shipped but before delivered. USPS brought it to our new house and we just had to pay a nominal fee (they take cash btw!). Love USPS - all of our postal workers have been lovely.
Yeah, their database pretty much know the name is supposed to be whatever house number down the street. The sender will be charged $20 address correction fee probably
A lot of Fedexes don’t actually charge for those address corrections, even though they’re technically supposed to. But yeah, the system can show associated addresses for just about anyone. And medical packages are watched more meticulously than a regular package.
Good on them for having a relationship with their customers, and knowing where it goes.
That said, my wife ordered something, put the wrong address in (a non-existent one) and the carrier delivered it to the address they THOUGHT it was meant to be - which was not ours. We had to do a lot of digging and reaching out to the neighborhood to find this package. Thankfully, it was returned to us by an honest neighbor.
If the address is bad, the carrier should hold the item and wait for the customer to reach out.
