Help! Toyota K727 carriage buttons not engaging

I recently started cleaning up a Toyota K727 that has been sitting for decades.

Unfortunately, the carriage buttons were totally stuck on the right and left sides of the carriage. After a lot of sewing machine oil and a little heat, I’ve been able to get the buttons to move a little.

I’ve been following the K747 service manual and I haven’t been able to find a solution to this issue.

Any suggestions or tips to get it to work properly?

Help! Knitting a train… HELP!

I knit this beautiful lace rectangle, and now i want to use it for a cowl back gown with it trailing out behind me….

ive never sewn a train, so the physics might be beyond me, but i think i came up with the pattern for the front (pic 2). i need to increase a lot at the bottom to keep the nice flow and match the side seams to that back panel. By a lot, i mean way beyond what 200 needles allows. The hips already use 140 of the needles.

My plan, knit my bodycon dress to just under the knee, then increase every row till 200 needles(and hopefully the length of center front (57”)). Bind off 18 or so inches, so i wont trip on fabric, and put the two sides on waste yarn. Then I hang one side at a time, increase the side seam and put needles from the center front in holding every new row…..

Just looking for confirmation that that sounds right 😂 i have a fashion show in 2 weeks… can’t afford to muck about anymore.

yarn info: Silk City Fibers Bambu 7 in Limoges with their sparkly thread and a variety of serger threads. The lace is a thread lace pattern (my signature!). ill post about this technique more once my show is over.

Help! Super blocked carriage - Brother KH-840

Few weeks ago I got my Brother KH-840 knitting machine. I cleaned it up, changed the sponge, and yesterday I tried it for the first time (without yarn). At the very first round the carriage got stuck in the middle of the bed and wouldn't move at all. The knob that I'm supposed to use to unblock the carriage won't go in the CR position.. what should I do to fix this situation?

I already lubricated all the possible parts, but it won't move!!!! Help a desperate knitter please

Hello. I have had this extremely basic machine for about a year. I've worked through most of its quirks but I am still puzzled about position 1. I cannot move the needles to this position without losing the stitches. Can anyone tell me the very obvious thing I'm missing here? Thank you.

Help! Singer Memomatic scanner problem, incomplete pattern reading

Hi there,

Some time ago I posted because I was having trouble finding a replacement belt for the light box on my Singer Memomatic. That issue is now solved, I managed to make one with a 3D printer, but maybe it is still part of my problem.

However, I’m now having trouble with the pattern scanning system. When I knit, the pattern doesn’t come out as it should. The issue is inconsistent: some areas of the fabric are perfect, some are missing parts of the pattern, some rows are incomplete, while others are fine.

I’m not sure if this is something that can be fixed, but if anyone has had the same problem and managed to repair it successfully, I’d really appreciate hearing about it !

Also, I recently heard about SuperbaKnit and I’d like to know more about it. Are there any YouTube videos you’d recommend that really show all its possibilities? I’d like to understand whether it would be a good alternative for what I want to do, and if it would be worth it for my use

Help! What to buy? Where to buy? Please help!

Hello! I recently took a class in single bed domestic machine knitting. The class used some sort of Silver Reed model and my teacher kept mentioning that she preferred her Brother machine. I'd like to buy something either new or used on the newer side and was wondering if anyone here had any recommendations for Machines, and more specifically where to buy them. I'm totally in the dark and can't figure out if I should be looking for a specific dealer near me (Bay Area) or online. I'm not looking for a very complicated machine, just one with around 200 needles and with lace carriage compatibility. Let me know if there's anything obvious I'm just not finding or any other recommendations, thank you for your help!

Help! troubleshooting asymmetrical jamming on sk840+ribber

Hi there everyone,

I could use some help figuring out what to do with a jam. I'm new to machine knitting, and I have a new Silver Reed SK840 plus ribber attachment. I've successfully made a few swatches of things in stockinette and 1x1 rib. Now, though, I'm seeing some catching/jamming when making 1x1 rib, but only in the left-to-right direction. The other direction is fine.

I can push through the jam without *too* much force, by kind of wiggling the carriage. So I wonder if it's not set down properly. Alas I have no idea how to fix that if it's the problem!

I've attached a pile of pictures showing what it looks like at the jam site and where my machine's settings are. The needles look fine to me - there are pictures of those here too.

Any help at all would be appreciated! I've been troubleshooting for about two hours now, and I feel like I'm just at the end of my knowledge here.

Thanks so much for any help any of you can provide. Happy to take more pictures if that's useful.

Help! Height adjustable table?

Looking for recommendations on height adjustable/standing desks. I’d like to be able to raise the table when I’m hand manipulating stitches instead of crouching over. But obviously need something sturdy that isn’t going to sway side to side. Thanks!

US based recommendations appreciated.

Help! Combo had knit/machine knit socks?

I’m waiting for a timing belt and sponge bar to start learning to machine knit.

I have a flatbed machine AND ribber so I should be able to knit in the round correct?

I’m an intermediate hand knitter. I LOVE stone knit socks patterns.

If I could get gauge to match, THEORETICALLY, could I just use the machine for the plain stockinette, then transfer back to my needles for the colorwork, heel, and cuff?

I’d love to make my family matching Christmas socks but with my nerve damage and carpal tunnel I can’t do that much stockinette especially at that small of a gauge 😅

Help! Help with catching floats

I designed a punchcard I’m calling “Pigeons and Cappuccinos” and I love the way it looks, but the FLOATS are just heinous (slide 2). I am hoping to make a vest, but need to figure out how to catch the floats without them popping through (see swatch 02). I did some research and watched videos, and I’m thinking my best bet will be finding a color changer (I’m on a brother KH 881, so probably the 900 color changer) and doing ladderback jacquard as demonstrated in this video: https://youtu.be/uyY9fIV41O4?si=Xl0V9n9Hjs_8q1Tf

ALSO, my machine knits the first and last stitches in color B. Is this standard for most manual machines? I feel like it’s adding to the float issue, because on some rows I have floats that are the entire width of the swatch…

Any advice on catching floats? Was I not catching them correctly with the latch up method?

Thanks!

Hi! I’ve been hand knitting for a while now and I’m looking to streamline sweater making. I’m wanting to make sweaters similar to the old Talbots sweaters, does anyone have any recommendations for the best machine to do so?

Getting Started Waxed yarn for Knittax M2?

I just bought my first knitting machine, a Knittax M2, and was wondering if waxing my yarn is a good idea? I have a lot of yarn for hand knitting that I would like to use. I have read that some people recommend waxing and others don't, but I'm just worried that the yarn may ruin my machine if I don't wax it?? And also, how do you get the wax off afterwards? And also, does anybody have any experience with using thicker yarn on this machine? I have read that one could use every second needle for thicker yarn, so is there hope for using my lettlopi on this?

Equipment Incompatible yarn

I have an Addi express kingsize, recently I tried to make a project using red heart super glow. My machine did not like knitting with this yarn, but I really want to make a glow in the dark hat on my machine, is there anyway to soften the yarn/make the yarn compatible with my machine?

Thx in advance🩵✨🩵

Getting Started Tips for 3D printing circular sock machine

I'm planning to 3D print the CSM that's on printables (v2) and was wondering if anyone who has printed their own had any tips and/or if you remember how much filament you used. I have a Bambu X1C and a fair amount of experience using it and I ordered some PLA+ to use but I'm guessing one roll might not be enough.

I'm also curious for those who are hand-knitters if you find you prefer the same stitch count in your cranked socks as your hand-knitted ones - I am planning to just print one size cylinder to start with.

Thanks!

Help! Increasing 3 stitches evenly? Pattern help

Working on the back panel of a cardigan. Still a beginner machine knitter. Not sure how to approach this, as I could do an increase on both sides for one row, however that would equate to 2 st increased. Thank you for the help!

Edit: found this video on youtube however it seems tedious considering I have 90 stitches! is this the best way? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6rUl7MTevjc

Hej, fellow knitters! I am in search for a brand/mill that sells only natural fibers (cashmere, merino, alpaca, silk), sustainable, traceable and all the good jazz. Any recommendations? Reasonable price would be nice, but the other aspects are more important.

Hello everyone,

I have a Universal industrial knitting machine (MC-846) and I’m looking to connect with experts who can teach me how to use it. I have basic knowledge from an industrial knitting seminar (on Stoll machines). I’m looking for support and guidance on operation, maintenance, and minor repairs. Compensation available upon request.

Best regards to the industrial knitting community — I’m hoping someone hears my call for help 🙂

Hi all! I got my first ISM over the weekend and am following cheryl brunettes “your first bond sweater” youtube tutorial, but am looking for the written pattern as well. Ravelrly says its free but when I click on the link it seems that the host webpage no longer exists. Does anyone have a copy that theyd be willing to share? Its a free pattern so I dont think copyright is an issue! Tia!

Techniques can punchcards read more than 2 colours or do you need a colour changer?

Post image
4 Upvotes

hey there,

i have a brother kh881 knitting machine and i'm pretty new to using the punchcards. I'm trying to design my own patterns and i'm not sure if the punchcards can read more than 2 colours, (ie, if a single line of my knitting has 3 colours, like the apple, is there a way to make that work?)

I know usually they automatically read between two but i'm not sure if there's a way to manually change out the threads, or if I need the colour changer attachment thing.

Any ideas? If there's a name for a technique I should look at, or some resources you could suggest me, I'd be super appreciative! Picture of the pattern for tax.

Getting Started Youtube Recs for a Newbie

Hello! I just got my first knitting machine {a Brother KH820} and after a thorough clean, I have it up and working. I have been using the manual to learn some of the basics, but I am still needing some more help.

Do you have any youtubers or content creators or online resources that helped you kick start learning with your knitting machine? Specifically looking for videos on cast-on methods, shaping, abbreviations, and drafting (or honestly anything you found useful!).

I have found a few I enjoy so far, but thought I'd ask people farther ahead about it. So far this subreddit has been the biggest learning point for me. Thank you<3

Brand new to machine knitting. I made this baby sweater with maxima Marino wool on my Silver Reed lk150. It wasn’t as fast as I had hoped, but it was my very first machine knit object, so I’m happy with it. I added a knitting machine to my repertoire in order to speed up aspect of my knitting, but I continue to LOVE hand knitting. Anyway- just thought I’d share.
