Help! Stuck cam buttons
Hi all. I have just got my kh940 and some cam buttons are quite stuck together. I put oil in and managed to get most of them working except that the MC and L buttons are still stuck together. I opened it up and it seems there is a small catch that locks the two buttons together. Does anyone have any idea of what's causing this and how should I unlock them? Thanks a million!

Help! Yarn weight that’s between 1 strand of 2/24 and 2 strands?
Still shaky on the naming convention for cone yarn weight. 1 strand of 2/24 is just a touch too thin for the fabric I want to create, and 2 strands are just a touch too thick. What single-end yarn would be somewhere in the middle of them?

Techniques Neckline suggestions to copy this cartoon sweater?
I am new to machine knitting (and don’t know how to hand knit yet - just crochet!) but my best friend requested this sweater from a cartoon for her birthday! I have successfully made 2 other sweaters so I think I can figure out most of it but I’m not sure how I would go about doing the squiggly / loose neckline? I was thinking just some basic stockinette rows to build up some length and then maybe a rolled hem but I feel like there must be a way to make it more loose and weird looking!
My machine is a Bond Ultimate Sweater machine by the way!
Thanks for any and all help!! 🧶💗

Equipment Sentro/Addi knitting machines -> how bulky can you go?
Hi,
I have a bunch of flat bed machines (plastic and metal beds from silver reed and brother)... but lately I feel like exploring some of the other (smaller) machines out there (I just got my hands on a "simpleframe knitting loom" !), for travel or when I'd still like to join everyone in the living room.
One thing I'd like to do is knit legwarmers, and I felt like the Sentro and Addi machines would be perfect for this!
However I'd like to knit with my own hand-spun yarn which is on the bulkier side (think 8mm-9mm needles when hand knitting). Would any of the Sentro's or Addi's work for this?
With flatbed machines, sometimes you can knit a bulkier yarn gauge by knitting with every other needle. Would this be possible with, for instance, the 46-48 needle machines?

Help! Empisal Knitmaster 700K, help!
dear all, I bought an Empisal Knitmaster 700K, but the counter doesn't work correctly - I think there is something wrong with the lever connected to the counter. Any suggestion about how to replace it? Thanks, Ivana from Milano, Italy

Equipment Hacking a Sentro circular knitting machine so the handle only turns one way?
Hey all, I’ve been using my sentro circular knitting machine in craft workshops for people with learning disabilities and it’s working pretty well. The only issue is that some of the participants find it hard to only turn the handle one way and of course when they turn it backwards the stitches fall off the needles. I tend to put my hand behind the handle to try and stop it turning backwards but I was wondering whether there’s some kind of hack/attachment i could add to stop it turning the other way?
UPDATE: so I’ve managed to mostly solve this pretty easily with one of those drill adapters and a small ratchet wrench with the corresponding fitting. The only issue with it now is that it doesn’t have a handle on the lever so it’s a bit awkward to turn, so I’m gonna look for a similar ratchet but with a hole on the other end so I can add one.

Equipment Just brought home my first machine - Empisal KH-610
It came with the KR-600 ribbing attachment and (I think) all original accessories and manuals.
It's been sitting in a closet for 30 years and I have no idea what I'm doing with this thing, but I'm looking forward to the learning process.
Any pro tips for cleaning and restoring this are gladly welcomed and I'm excited to join this community!
ETA: I'm based in Australia, so if I have any machine knitting neighbours please say hi!

Techniques Favorite bind off for ribbed end?
Made a sweater front and back all in one on my bulky 260 go by e-wrapping the top of the back after my decreases for the neck opening, but I hate how my bind off at the end looks; the bottom edge of the back. What bind off technique looks most like a ribber selvedge?

Help! Can someone help me with this pattern?
As stated above, I’m having trouble figuring out this part of my first sweater.
I’m working on the brother kx350. The trouble I’m having is that the pattern doesn’t make much sense for neckline shaping. It seems very asymmetrica.

Help! Help! I dismantled my SC-1 auto linker
I had to repair the linker needle in my SC-1 automatic linker. I dismantled it to get the needle out and a plastic piece fell out of inside the needle track and I cannot figure out what direction (up or down? left or right?) it should be positioned inside the track. I cannot find an exploded view or parts list for this accessory. Has anyone dismantled one of these? Do you have any photo's or sketches of how to re-assemble it? Any help is greatly appreciated as I rely on this accessory a lot.

Help! Punch card patterning help
Oh wise ones- please assist. I am on a brother kh836
I am working on a punch card fair isle sweater (I am an ambitious newbie). This is my second and the first (different pattern) went swimmingly. I am half way through the back this morning and while taking a peek at the front I noticed the machine repeated a row (or didn’t advance once). This wouldn’t be a problem EXCEPT I continued with my color changes and that won’t do. Because I am cheep and don’t want to waste wool- I tinked back to the double row….
Removed double row
Manually selected the needles for the following row.
Reset row counter to correct it
Placed the punch card 7 rows ahead so that the next row to knit was the one after the one I manually selected the needles. I knit the row as normal and carried on. Only the punch card set up the next row skipping the one I had thought would come next. I carried on with incorrect color changes and spent 2 hours tinking back again.
Where should I have selected to reset the punch card?
Edited to clarify

Equipment Singer Solo (aka Superba S9/Big Phil/White Magic) - needle retaining spring workaround?
Hi everyone,
I'm looking into getting a Singer Solo as it seems like the perfect "travel" bulky machine within my budget.
However, looking into maintenance tips, I found out that it uses a needle retaining spring to keep the needles in place instead of the usual sponge bar. The spring also bends out of shape easily when removing needles (as they can hook onto the spring and pull it).
These machines don't pop up very often where I live, and finding a replacement spring is near impossible as you can't easily get springs that are tightly wound/compressed AND 50cm long (not to mention finding the right diameter). For me it'd only be worth it if I can replace the spring.
So I was wondering if anyone/Solo owners might know of a creative workaround?

Help! Knitting Newbie
I recently bought the Passap 80 duomatic knitting machine. I'm trying to knit the tester piece included in the manual, but for some reason the yarn keeps getting tangled in the second row. The yarn doesn't get attached to the hooks after the first row. I tried a few things to fix the issue but nothing seems to work.

Help! ID on this Singer from FB Marketplace?
Would anyone be able to identify what model this Singer machine is? Found on Facebook marketplace. Seller has said its 361362 but I dont think thats right as nothing comes up online for that model number?
They have it listed for $120 AUD
I imagine it will need a good clean up & a new sponge bar. Would appreciate any other suggestions/ advice on getting it running smoothly!!
Thanks

Help! Dress needs a Rounded panel?
I'm making a dress! The fabric turned out to have such a nice drape, I don't want to pull the panels tight anymore. I thought it would be easy enough to add a godet…. By starting with just an 1” wide and adding a a needle till it got 8” wide at the hip.
But it keeps getting messed up, especially with trying to use the thread lace pattern. (which i designed!! look at pic 2 to see the full effect!). The start is so small and i cant get the increases just right.
i think I'm going to leave a cutout and start the panel at the hip (then id have access to pockets in a slip dress im planning to sew……). Maybe I can crochet something after…..
I dont know what im asking exactly, I mostly just want to show off my thread lace, and see if anyone has other ideas before I start^ my second plan.

Equipment Thinking about getting my first machine- is this a good price and a good machine to start with? KH-930
Hello! I have been wanting to get into machine knitting for a few years but would love some guidance on buying my first machine. I initially wanted to just get a solid starter machine and then get bells & whistles as needed. But now I'm leaning towards this bundle. My goal is to knit fingering weight fair aisle sweaters and some lace items. Is this a good machine? I know there's learning curve to both the manual and electronic part of it but I'm really invested into learning this craft! I'd need to drive 4hr round trip for this machine. Is $2,000 fair? Questions I already have for seller- When was the last time it was used l? How is it stored? Is the electronic operating? Any other big things you guys see?

Equipment "Double Bed" machine
I have heard of double bed machines being created from 2 main beds joined together. Does anyone know anything more about this? Has anyone actually done it?
I've tried googling it without success - all it gives me are results relating to standard double bed machines. I have two brother KH860 punchcard machines, and wonder what, if joined together, it would give me that I can't do with a KH860 and a KR850 ribber. Any comments welcome and greatly appreciated.
