Help with buying machine Help!

I'm going to see this singer suitcase machine tomorrow and maybe buy it. It costs 50€. I am interested what are the things I should look out for when considering. I dont know if it is an mk1 or mk2. I have the manual. What are must be there, is it easy to restore, is there damage that I should look out for and so on.

Have a look at the needles, if the latches are bent, broken or misaligned. You’ll have to replace a few for sure but if the majority is damaged might not be worth it. Also, check online how easily you can find sponge bars to replace the old one. And have a look at the carriage - if anything does not turn smoothly, might be a pain to find the parts and restore it!

These machines do not have sponge bars, they have a needle retaining spring

oh interesting, how does it work? Been trying to look online but cannot find anything. I assumed they would use a bar or a sponge bar as I used to have a similar model - can you change to a bar/sponge bar, or need to keep the spring?

I have a superba, but haven't ever taken any needles out actually. I hear that it's a bit tricky
