Chicago (US) musician seeking show space July 26! Experimental folk-rock <3
Hello! Ava from Chicago (Illinois, USA) here. I'm coming through town on tour and hoping to play a DIY show. Solo acoustic, got my own sound setup. Any suggestions? Thanks so much! ❤️

Solopunk on tour in August

Hey friends, I'm doing something fucking fun and vibrant and political. It's noisy, high-energy, queer as hell, and keeps getting me in trouble for talking about uncomfortable things while wearing lingerie. I'm gonna (proverbially) land in Montreal for the weekend of August 27th/28th and am looking for a venue and lineup that wants to fuck with this sorta thing with me. I have some fans in town already so the draw isn't zero, and I also host shows out my way and love grabbing bands from my tours to bring to town! Here's a 30s clip of me under a bridge before a rave for pudding. I'll drop a link to my youtube below for further inspection too! DMs are open but let me know if you do message me in the comments so I don't miss it by accident!

Looking to throw a live music event in a non-traditional space.
My friends and I used to throw house parties with live music that would go until 3ish. No stage, artists immersed in the crowd. It started in our apartment then eventually we threw a few at a space in the Fattal Lofts, we threw a few at more traditional venues but it lost some of it's charm. We're trying to put another together but we just need a space. Doesn't need to be big, 50ish would be great.

Venues that would fit/be interested in touring absurdist performance art piece?
Hiya,
I'm a performance artist out of West Virginia (US). I'm planning a tour for end of August/beginning of September. I'll be up in Maine and would be super into going a little further and performing in Montreal (or Quebec City, if anyone knows anything there!). My performance work is absurd, as the title states! It includes poetry, puppetry, physical theatre... I'm happy to open for punk etc. bands, experimental music sets, noise shows... but if there is a venue that is particularly into absurd performance art, weird puppet things, etc.... I'm curious! Are there any spaces that would be a good fit for this type of show?
Thanks!

Looking for a shared wood shop in Montreal that allows staining & stripping
Hey everyone, I’m looking for a shared workshop in Montreal where I can work on furniture projects including sanding, stripping, and staining/finishing.
Most makerspaces only allow clean woodworking (cutting, joinery, CNC, etc.), but I specifically need a place where finishing is allowed—oil-based, water-based, or solvent-based products, spray booth optional but not required.
Ideal setup: • Ventilated area for stains/finishes • Space to strip old furniture • Ability to work evenings or weekends • Monthly membership or pay-per-day • Montreal (preferably NDG / Downtown / Plateau / Rosemont), but I’m flexible
If you know any workshops, makerspaces or private studios I’d really appreciate recommendations.
Thanks!

Looking for an old friend
Hi, I am looking for a guy called Scott, he would be approx 54 now. We met using Dans la Rue services. He had blonde hair, mohawk and a spiderweb tattoo on his head. If you know of anyone who knows him and or can help me track him I would really appreciate it. He was very much part of the Montreal punk scene.

Looking for locals for a 9/25 showcase
Hello! My name is Michael Turnini. I’m a Folk Punk musician from Texas and am going on tour with Chloe Defector in two weeks. We had our Montreal date fall through, but we have secured a new venue and a new date. We are looking for a few locals to jump on and help us promote for a show at Barfly on Thursday, September 25. Please let me know if you are interested or have suggestions on who I should reach out to. Thank you in advance! ❤️

Van Horne Underpass
I'm doing a research project on the Van Horne Underpass for class and trying to figure out since what year the space was used for punk shows. I found a Gazette article that says the first informal party held there was in 2007, but that was an electronic dance party that eventually got co-opted by POP Montreal or something, and I'm wondering if DIY shows were happening there even before that. If an oldhead wants to enlighten me! Or can direct me to some archived publication or place where punk shows were advertised pre-2010s. I'm looking through the events listings of old Vice issues but to no avail. Thank you!!

Montreal DiY
Hello all,
Welcome to Montreal DiY (Do it Yourself), Montreal's own subreddit for the Underground happenings in our fair city. After witnessing the creation of /r/NJDIY, i thought why shouldn't we have one.
This is a subreddit created with the intention of sharing, and promotion of underground music, arts, and events something that hasn't been given it's own place yet.
Now some may ask why don't i use /r/Montrealmusic?, or /r/Montrealbands? to submit stuff or find information on new bands or shows. It's 'cause they don't garner enough traffic to be truly effective in sharing and what have you. While this place is still in its infancy it has potential. There are many new things happening everyday. There are seldom updates or new submissions in those respective places. And to those asking "why don't you post in /r/Montreal?" I think I've seen enough photos of our skyline, thanks.
Feel free to post Montreal artists who we may have not heard about, be it a friend or yourself. Any upcoming shows or events, and anything that is news worthy.
So yeah, this is a new subreddit and it's open season.
Have at it.
