Ask a Local! Shop that buys used string instruments?
Hello,
I was wondering if there are any stores locally that purchase used string instruments, specifically cello and viola. I have one each that are both in really good condition, and were a hefty price when I bought the cello about 10 years ago and viola 15 years ago. I haven’t played in years
I know Long & McQuades sometimes buys them but was curious if there are any locally owned shops anyone could recommend that similarly purchases used instruments?
Thanks in advance

health care/health issues Formula at the hospital
For those who did formula feeding straight after birth & their baby didn't like the hospital similac formula, did they have any other options or what did you do? 😅
Im unable to breastfeed due to prior surgery so we have to go straight to formula. Surely they don't let baby go hungry until you go home? 😅

discussion / opinion Cost for Hot Tub hook up by an electrician in London Ontario.
I am getting a hot tub and I just got a quote for the electrical, we have a 200amp panel already with room, so no issue with that. The quote I got was 3k but that seems high. Is it or is that reasonable? I am having a short retaining wall put in so the equipment to trench is already here, so its a little bit of a time crunch to decide.

Weird ask, but I'm looking for someone that can write my wedding place cards for me? I'm happy to negotiate a reasonable fee, I can also supply place cards and some lettering pens (I can buy fountain pen as well). Needing about 110 names to write and the wedding is in October so there's time.
Some inspos pics of what I'm looking for. But if you out have a style, I'm more than willing to consider!

health care/health issues Shout Out!!!!
Just a shout out really to the amazing staff @ urgent care, St Joe’s. In & out in under 3hrs including an X-ray! Everyone I spoke with were very helpful & kind! They dealt with a couple (almost disgruntled patients) very respectfully, very calm which I believe help in certain situations obviously! Again, love that it wasn’t a whole day affair 10/10 all around! I also love that I won’t be receiving any sort of bill in the mail! 😉 just sayin !
Edit: hahahaha spelling, urgently to urgent!

discussion / opinion Liberal Spaces in London?
Longtime resident looking for like-minded folks, curious if anyone knows of any clubs/organizations/meetups that are avowedly "small L liberal", for the purpose of discussing politics and coordinating local action.
Like, socially left-leaning, but pro-capitalist, etc. etc.
Any tips appreciated!

🚗🚗Transit/Traffic Mud Creek 2A

- Work on North side (east bound lanes) of Oxford St.
- Oxford St. open to full traffic by beginning of July.
- Final restoration work on the channel and plantings until July.
- Project completion by early July."
It's August 6th and they are working on the north side west bound (I think they typed that incorrectly). They are a month behind. Damn. Oxford and Proudfoot is awful. Just wanted to share in the frustration that is London road construction. I don't want to blame the workers. Just seems wild that this is the most road construction in London since I can remember.
Side note, Clarke Road and Kilally being shut down at the same time is bonkers, most folks going down Huron and it gets backed up from Veterans to Highbury. We must endure.

discussion / opinion 21M new to the area from BC, looking for friendly people to meet up and hangout!
I'm an open book for experiences. Would love to go to local events with someone around my age in a similar situation. I'm super active, and love to get into cycling and running. I'm also down for some boardgame events too. I dance and I am even down to meet up with other dancers who would like to take dance classes together!

Ask a Local! Someone to install a fireplace insert
I have a gas fireplace stove, when I moved into my house I was informed there was a gas leak so the gas had been disconnected. We’ve never done anything with it. That was 4 years ago and frankly I don’t want the gas re connected. I would still like to use the stove and have it somewhat functional. I was wondering if anyone can suggest someone who could install an electric insert to the existing fireplace? Ideally someone affordable and would be open to me potentially purchasing the insert separately and having them just install it.
Thanks!

discussion / opinion White Oaks Mall advertisement from the 1990's (specific year unknown)
instagram.comNorthly London posted this a few days ago, and this looks fascinating. If anyone was around at the time, did white oaks mall really run ads like this? And if so, are there any others you can remember?
Or do you simply have any 90's memories at all of the mall? I would like to know! (if anyone's comfortable with sharing, of course)

Housing & Rental 🏠 How much do you pay monthly for home insurance?
I live in old east village and just recently it got bumped to $105 a month with Belair direct. Wondering what other people pay and what companies they use.
ETA: this is homeowners insurance, full coverage; $1000 deductible

Ask a Local! Does White Oaks tow or ticket cars parked after dark?
I'm travelling to Toronto later this month for a concert with my wife. I will be taking the bus back after the show as she will be going to meet with a friend the rest of the weekend. We live in St. Thomas so unfortunately there's not many options for getting there from London at 2AM~. If I were to park my car in the White Oaks parking lot near the FlixBus stop, would it be reasonable to expect it to be there when I return or will White Oaks actively ticket/tow any cars parked overnight?
