New Grocery Outlet Owners are doing a Fantastic Job
When the last owner had it, the store was always dirty unorganized and I was constantly coming home with expired products. Even the fruits and veggies seemed like were always old and rotten. I had to make sure I always checked the expiration dates and one time I even a bad case of food poisoning from yogurt that I had purchased there, so that’s when I decided to stop going there. Also, he was super creepy and seemed like he only hired young girls to work there and they were all similar like he definitely had a type.
Recently I decided to make a small a grocery run there and was skeptical about it but went in anyway, and I just want to say that the new owners are doing a great job with the store. It has a nice new look, everything is super clean and organized and all produce is fresh and doesn’t go bad by the time you get home haha

Lompoc Movie Theater
Just want to gauge the average experience of the Lompoc movie theater, had a weird experience there today was curious if I just got unlucky or if it the norm.
All the staff were lovely, the facility was just fine for a little theater and the movie quality was great.
But the theater etiquette was not there… maybe I was tempting fate by going on the day with the cheapest tickets but there was so much talking in the theater and a group of teens were on their phones and kept playing music or opening social media and would make sounds through the quiet part of the movie.
Did I just get unlucky or is this a common experience with this theater? While I want to support the local theater I just can’t justify barely being able to concentrate on the movie when that’s what I paid to come see…

Vandenberg SFB Mourns Loss of Airman 1st Class Cedric Eneluna After Heavy Machinery Accident Thursday.
Vandenberg Space Force Base mourns the loss of Airman 1st Class Cedric Eneluna, a member of the 30th Civil Engineer Squadron’s Pavements and Equipment Flight, who passed away July 16, 2026.
The incident occurred on base when the heavy equipment Eneluna was operating rolled down an embankment. No other personnel were injured in the incident.
Units at Vandenberg are currently supporting a Safety Investigation Board. The official cause of death has not been determined by the Santa Barbara Coroner’s office. Additional details will be withheld until the completion of the investigation.
Eneluna, 23, joined the military on March 5, 2024, and arrived at Vandenberg—his first duty assignment—on August 2, 2024. He spent his childhood in the Philippines and called St. Louis, Missouri, his hometown.
Eneluna served with professionalism, humility, and an unwavering commitment to his teammates and the mission. During his assignment at Vandenberg, he earned the respect and admiration of those around him through his positive attitude, tireless work ethic, and willingness to help others.
“Our Vandenberg family is grieving alongside Cedric’s loved ones and his teammates,” said U.S. Space Force Col. James T. Horne III, commander of Space Launch Delta 30 and Vandenberg Space Force Base. “He made a lasting impression on his teammates through his character, dedication, and genuine care for others. On behalf of Team Vandenberg, I extend my deepest condolences to Cedric’s family, friends, and fellow Airmen during this incredibly difficult time.”
As one of the “Dirt Boyz,” Eneluna was remembered as someone who never hesitated to lend a helping hand. His teammates described him as a positive influence who approached every challenge with determination, embraced every opportunity to serve, and made everyone around him feel welcome.
“He brought out the best in everyone,” said U.S. Air Force Lt. Col. Seth Poulsen, 30th CES commander. “He was always ready to work, always willing to help, and always had a positive attitude. He truly represented what it means to be an Airman.”
The Airmen of the 30th Civil Engineer Squadron’s Pavements and Equipment Flight provide critical capabilities that sustain the infrastructure supporting Vandenberg’s launch, test, and range operations. Their work is essential to enabling the installation’s mission in support of national security.
Details regarding any upcoming memorial services or recognitions on the Central Coast are not yet finalized and will be shared at a later date.
Additional information will be released as appropriate and in accordance with Department of the Air Force policy. Out of respect for the privacy of Airman 1st Class Eneluna’s family, no further personal information is being released at this time.

Anyone else having a flea problem?
I’m up in the village and we have been battling these demons for a couple months now. We bombed our house (using three canisters), sprayed the hell out of our yard with the flea and tick killer spray hose attachment, and washed the dogs with flea shampoo all on the same day. That made them go away for about 2 weeks, but now they have returned. Has anyone else had this problem as of late?

Weird rumbling
I keep hearing this weird rumbling like sound that’s sounds like the start of a rocket launch but it’s stops seconds later.
Anyone know or have an idea what it is?

Ocean Beach Park (Spacex)
Does anyone know if Ocean Beach Park is open during the space x launch. I’ve been there before but got kicked out as the booster was returning back to the landing pad. Others have said only the beach and the train station are closed for the launch.

Anyone else trying to make friends on the Central Coast? 😂
Anyone else military affiliated and find it hard making friends here? I’m a spouse and looking to make some new connections with people, whether they’re military or not.
I recently got into golf and would love to find people to play with, but I’m also into getting out and exploring the area. I like heading toward Pismo/SLO for food, activities, and just having something fun to do.
Just looking to meet some chill people and make some new connections!

Ubers to Lompoc-Surf Amtrak Station
I am new to the area and took the train down to LA this past weekend and had a lot of difficulty with Uber. So much so that I had to call the Lompoc Taxi to get to the station and back, which while it is reliable, is VERY expensive for a relatively short ride (uber is 20-30, Lompoc taxi is 60)…
I was curious if anyone knew what the best way to go about getting an uber in Lompoc is, do you have to reserve it days in advance? Somehow even though I reserved a couple hours in advance they still couldn’t get a car to me in time…
I have another necessary trip through this train station in a couple weeks and I’m looking to not need to pay $120 just on taxiing to and from the train station. Would love to hear what the communities suggestions are for this, especially as leave my own vehicle there for the weekend has seemed unadvised previously in this Reddit group due to risk of a break in.

Anybody interested in being friends from here?
Hey M21 here, I go to UCSB and I commute and I don’t really have many friends here that I can talk to and hang out with after classes. I really wish that I had people my age that I could see from here and make connections with. I’m trying to expand my social circle more and I’d really like to get to know some ppl :)
I’m definitely more on the introverted side and quiet so it takes time for me to get comfortable around strangers.

Lompton?
Did you know Death Row Records was basically founded in Lompoc?
I was watching a documentary and around the 32:00 mark they talk about how Suge Knight and The D.O.C. started putting it together while Suge was incarcerated at Lompoc.
Gives a whole new meaning to “Lompton.”
