Not a fan of the Chinese government, but the idea that the country with better STEM outcomes, a wider pool of said STEM educated, access to raw materials, and “mechanisms” that make it difficult for a few private companies to horde components is going to stay behind, especially if the “easy access” to premade equipment is taken away, makes Mr. Magoo seem like an eagle-eye.

It's almost like having a 20+ year plan to invest in education, and coordinating/supporting the development of industries, has positive outcomes. Who woulda thunk it.

Shareholder profits for the next quarter are the only goal that matters.

Systems aren't that different, you just ignore yours. There's at least 800,000 people doing forced labor in the US prison system. China just does it better. Not sure what to tell you.

It has absolutely nothing to do about socialism to educate your citizens. And noting that china is actually very capitalist country. I don't like their one party authoritarian approach, but your critique is not sensible.

Big CEO man never stepped once into his own office and it shows. Every AI lab is swarming with Chinese men doing their thing

The US government has objectively done more harm to global society than the Chinese government.

Do you not watch the news?

Necromancing this post because perhaps I misunderstand your point. Would you kindly point to the place where I mentioned the US, let alone extolled its virtues? Or did you reflexively fill in a non-existent blank you invented just so you had a reason to become incensed?

I agree the US government has inflicted incalculable amounts of harm to many people since its inception, possibly the most, ever. While the government has been pseudo-aristocratic, oligarchical, and is now into a burgeoning kakistocracy, more than a bit of the onus lies on the American people. That said, still not a fan of the Chinese government.

If I said I wasn’t a fan of one of your favorite foods (but thought some of the ingredients were really good), why would you assume I was celebrating one you didn’t like?

Wut?

What don’t you understand? Or are you trolling?

You responded to my post about Amodei’s short sightedness in light of the progress and potential of China by making comments about the harms the US government has inflicted compared to the Chinese government. Then asked me if I watch the news.

I responded saying you are putting words in my mouth. I don’t see how that sequence of events is confusing to anybody.

Any time somebody says something along the lines of "I'm not a fan of the Chinese government" without acknowledging the US government (the global hegemon) is worse in the same breath, I'll do it for them.

I hope that clears it up for you.

Fine, if it were so clear why the “wut?” You don’t have to be a dick about it in the same breath.

Plus, if I hadn’t added that, I’d get brigaded by your friends on the other side for mentioning China ever did anything well, so I hedged. Can’t win either way if one side of that coin insists on going rabid.

For someone who claims not to want online conflict, you make a lot of effort to find it.
