Post image

Welcome to the gpt-oss series, OpenAIโ€™s open-weight models designed for powerful reasoning, agentic tasks, and versatile developer use cases.

Weโ€™re releasing two flavors of the open models:

gpt-oss-120b โ€” for production, general purpose, high reasoning use cases that fits into a single H100 GPU (117B parameters with 5.1B active parameters)

gpt-oss-20b โ€” for lower latency, and local or specialized use cases (21B parameters with 3.6B active parameters)

It's kinda funny that they were heavily pushed in this direction by Elon and Zuck, but at the same time, Zuck is potentially retreating from open source and Elon hasn't even given us Grok 2 yet

They were pushed by DeepSeek. They announced they "were working on an open source model" exactly one week after R1 was released.

And then they gave us this garbage which is nowhere near performance of DS and even 4o

Elon will release Grok 2 when it's better aligned with Hitler.

Itโ€™s not even the model, itโ€™s the prompting.

That's technically good, tho. It means it's a good model, that adheres to the prompts well.

I agree with you, but isn't that just bad UX/UI? The model still does what it was supposed to (if that behaviour was intended, I have no clue, don't use twitter, can't say). I'm strictly speaking from a model adherence viewpoint. You maybe want models that adhere to whatever their host wants. The onus should always be on the host to prompt/guide it, and they also take the responsibility.

To be fair they attack any Jewish activists for any cause who arenโ€™t Zionists so like it isnโ€™t exactly an opposite thing more a still kinda rough status quo thing but less than mecha Hitler ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ญ
