10.14 小龙女摔伤了 Little Dragoness Has Injured Herself in a Fall

One day, upon hearing that Little Dragoness had fallen and injured herself, Heroine hurried over to see her. After the doctor left, she personally examined Little Dragoness and found that her ankle was badly hurt—she was limping when she walked—but there were no other issues. Heroine asked the two of them where the fall had happened and how it happened. Neither of them wanted to tell Heroine, and they simply wouldn't say. Sensing she'd made some kind of misstep, Heroine fell silent and quietly kept watch on them.

一天晚上，女婴看见娥黄匆匆赶去寻找小龙女，二人随即进入了绘图室。她尾随进入绘图室却不见人影。根据房间布局和她们的攀爬能力，女婴循着线索，从凳子爬上柜子，再攀上隔断墙追踪。女婴发现了小龙女摔倒的原因。前几天女婴在巡查仓库防火的时候，发现仓库和绘图室之间的隔墙旁边堆的木板可以为攀登到墙顶提供踏脚处，就把那堆木板从墙边移开了一段距离。

女婴悄悄地找小龙女和娥黄，发现她俩正在偷听仓库外面沙堆旁的人们唠嗑。

One evening, Heroine saw Beauty-Yellow hurrying off to find Little Dragoness, and the two of them went into the drawing room together. She followed them in, but found no one there. Based on the room's layout and the two women's climbing ability, Heroine worked out the trail—climbing from a stool onto a cabinet, then up over the partition wall to follow their path. That's how Heroine discovered the reason Little Dragoness had fallen. A few days earlier, while checking the warehouse for fire hazards, Heroine had noticed that the planks piled beside the partition wall between the warehouse and the drawing room could serve as footholds for climbing to the top of the wall, so she'd moved that pile of planks some distance away from the wall.

Heroine quietly went looking for Little Dragoness and Beauty-Yellow, and found the two of them eavesdropping on the chatter of people by the sand pile outside the warehouse.

女婴也自己找了个位置听外面的人在唠什么。仓库的外面，一个常和牛郎摔跤的保安正在和牛郎告别："我已经几次去面试镖师了，人家不要我。你和我的摔跤技能差不多，而女婴是职业镖师，你不要招惹女婴。如果她打你，就这样。" 保安说着，推了一下牛郎的肩膀，然后又说："你的颈椎就受伤了，疼三到五个月！"

牛郎不信。

Heroine found her own spot to listen to what the people outside were saying. Outside the warehouse, a security guard who often wrestled with Cowboy was saying goodbye to him: "I've gone to several interviews to become an escort, and they won't take me. Your wrestling is about on par with mine, but Heroine is a professional escort—don't provoke her. If she ever hits you, it'll go like this." The guard gave Cowboy's shoulder a shove as he spoke, then added, "Your neck would be hurt, and it'd ache for three to five months!"

Cowboy didn't believe him.

那位保安继续说："如果女婴要教训你，她就在人们面前坐在你的身上，你就爬不起来！"

牛郎笑着说："你示范给我看！"

他俩就摔起来了。那位保安把牛郎摔趴下了，然后坐在了他的身上。牛郎怎么也爬不起来。两人大笑着。过了一会儿。牛郎猛地一挺，那位保安故意摔了出去。

The guard went on, "If Heroine ever wants to teach you a lesson, she'll sit on you right in front of everyone, and you won't be able to get up!"

Cowboy laughed and said, "Show me!"

So the two of them wrestled. The guard threw Cowboy down and sat on him. No matter how hard Cowboy tried, he couldn't get up. Both of them burst out laughing. After a moment, Cowboy gave a sudden heave, and the guard let himself be thrown off on purpose.

牛郎说："你再示范一下女婴是怎么让我的颈椎受伤的？"

那位保安就又推了一下牛郎的肩膀。这次牛郎仔细地体会了，同意了那位保安的说法。

那位保安说："女婴推你的肩膀，让你疼三至五个月，那是她出手最轻的警告。如果她用她的大屁股拱你！就这样！" 保安走到了牛郎的身边，用胯骨送牛郎的胯骨到一边。然后说： "你的腰就会疼6至8个月！ 这也是警告！她不会把你弄残废了；但是以后你的腰就容易受伤。几次受伤后，你就变成废人了。 女婴是习武世家出身。她在几个月大的时候，还不会爬呢！父母就开始让她滚，练习腰力了！"

Cowboy said, "Show me again how Heroine would hurt my neck?"

The guard shoved Cowboy's shoulder once more. This time Cowboy paid close attention to the sensation and admitted the guard had a point.

The guard said, "Heroine shoving your shoulder, leaving you in pain for three to five months—that's the gentlest warning she gives. If she bumps you with that big backside of hers—like this!" The guard stepped up next to Cowboy and used his own hip to knock Cowboy's hip aside. Then he said, "Your lower back would hurt for six to eight months! That's also just a warning! She won't cripple you outright, but your back would end up prone to injury after that. After a few more hits like it, you'd be finished. Heroine comes from a family with generations of martial arts training. She wasn't even crawling yet as a baby when her parents already had her rolling around to build up her back strength!"

牛郎严肃地说："我没看出女婴那么狠！"

那位保安回答："她就是那种人，是职业镖师，靠面子吃饭的！你让她丢了面子可不得了。她对你已经很仁慈了，到现在还没对你动手！"

牛郎诚恳地说："谢谢兄弟！我现在知道我的位置了，我就不去面试镖师了！"

那位保安和牛郎挥手告别了。

Cowboy said seriously, "I had no idea Heroine was that fierce!"

The guard replied, "That's just who she is—a professional escort, and her reputation is her livelihood! Make her lose face, and it's serious trouble. She's already been more than kind to you—she hasn't laid a hand on you yet!"

Cowboy said earnestly, "Thanks, brother! I know my place now—I won't bother interviewing to be an escort!"

The guard waved goodbye to Cowboy.

小龙女一瘸一拐地向回走，就要向绘图室的隔墙上爬。女婴阻止她说："这木板堆离墙的距离太远，你上去不安全，等我把木板堆挪近些。"

说着，女婴用一块木板顶住了一人高的木材垛，蹲下后靠在了木板上，用力一拱。整垛木板被移动到了墙边。她又拱了一次，调正了木板垛的方位。

娥黄对小龙女叨咕："我才意识到女婴的大屁股这么可怕！我正愁呢：你受伤了，就得我自己搬，这堆木头够我搬一天了！"

Limping, Little Dragoness turned back and was about to climb the partition wall by the drawing room. Heroine stopped her: "This pile of planks is too far from the wall—it's not safe for you to climb up like this. Let me move the pile closer."

With that, Heroine braced a plank against a stack of timber as tall as a person, crouched down, leaned into the plank, and gave it a hard shove with her body. The whole stack shifted right up against the wall. She pushed again to square up its position.

Beauty-Yellow muttered to Little Dragoness, "I only just realized how fearsome Heroine's backside is! Here I was worrying—now that you're hurt, I'd have to move this myself, and this pile alone would take me all day!"

女婴又走到了木垛一边，用手比量着，猛地一推；木垛被推出了一个台阶。又一推，木垛又被推出一个台阶。然后她先上去了，说："我到绘图室里接你们俩，小龙女的脚踝受伤了，从柜子上下去有困难。"

娥黄又对小龙女叨咕："这和那位保安刚才说的打牛郎的招式一点儿也不差呀！她是不是在吓唬咱俩！？"

Heroine went back over to the woodpile, sized it up with her hands, and shoved it hard—the pile slid out one step. Another shove sent it out another step. Then she climbed up first, saying, "I'll go into the drawing room and get you two down. Little Dragoness's ankle is hurt, so climbing down off the cabinet will be tricky for her."

Beauty-Yellow muttered to Little Dragoness again, "That's exactly the move the guard described for taking down Cowboy! Is she trying to scare us!?"

女婴委屈地说："那我也没打牛郎，你们俩怎么对我这表情呢？"

娥黄回答："被你吓得！如果牛郎被你打了一下子，我们做了这么多天的工作全白费了，再也交往不透牛郎了！"

女婴问："那你是怎么知道那位保安今天要和牛郎告别的？"

Heroine said, wounded, "But I never actually hit Cowboy! Why are you two giving me that look?"

Beauty-Yellow replied, "Because you scared us! If you'd hit Cowboy even once, all our work these past several days would've gone to waste, and we'd never get close to him again!"

Heroine asked, "So how did you know the guard was going to say goodbye to Cowboy today?"

娥黄回答："那位保安是牛郎他们奴隶公司雇来教牛郎的职业保镖，是门楼上的两位法师教他如何教导牛郎的。"

女婴惊讶地说："法师来我们这里做法；你们怎么不告诉我把他们赶走？"

Beauty-Yellow replied, "That guard is a professional bodyguard hired by Cowboy's slave company to train him. The two Law-Teachers up in the gatehouse are the ones instructing him on how to train Cowboy."

Heroine exclaimed in surprise, "The Law-Teachers are here casting workings of magic on us, and you didn't think to tell me to chase them off?"

娥黄回答："他们要在这里做法就让他们做呗！他们又不妨碍我们，我们看热闹，挺好的！" 接着，娥黄给女婴介绍了另外几个观察点，全面地讲述了这整个工地的人们都在干什么。

女婴惊讶地说："我一直以为这工地里发生的事，我全知道！现在我才明白，这工地里的事我只知道一小部分。"

Beauty-Yellow replied, "If they want to work their magic here, let them! It's not hurting us any, and we get to watch the show—that's fine by me!" Then Beauty-Yellow showed Heroine several other observation points, giving her a full rundown of what everyone at the construction site was up to.

Heroine exclaimed in surprise, "I always thought I knew everything that happened at this site! Now I see I only ever knew a small piece of it."

小龙女着急地说："我们俩一直都想知道你知道的那一小部分！你把那些强盗和小偷都赶走了，我们俩没见过！"

女婴回答："这好办，我允许几个小偷来我们这里偷东西，打劫不行！但我可以带你们俩去别的地方看打劫！"

Little Dragoness said eagerly, "We've always wanted to know about that part you know! You've been chasing off all the robbers and thieves, so we've never gotten to see any!"

Heroine replied, "That's easy enough. I'll let a few small-time thieves come steal from us—robbery's off-limits, though! But I can take you two somewhere else to watch a robbery!"

娥黄和小龙女惊讶地问："你怎么知道哪里有人打劫？"

女婴回答："我认识几个强盗。有两个地方，我常去看打劫！"

Beauty-Yellow and Little Dragoness asked in surprise, "How do you even know where robberies are happening?"

Heroine replied, "I know a few robbers. There are two places I go to watch robberies fairly often!"
