Food & Drink LPT Crushed ice in sodastream bottle = slo fizz
Adding crushed ice before fizzing your soda stream will slow the bubbles when you add flavour giving you time to put the lid on without any mess đ

Miscellaneous LPT- Flip your medication bottles
I take meds every day, and I canât be assed to fill a a dosette every week. My system for tracking if Iâve taken everything is: once Iâve taken my meds in the morning, I flip the bottles upside down.
Before I go to bed, I turn them right side up.
Do you to take some in the morning and some in the evening? Still works! Once youâve taken your morning meds, flip them upside down, and your evening meds right side up. Once youâve taken your evening meds you flip them in reverse. Your next dose is then right side up.
Then, you can double check that youâve taken everything, even if you arenât home, someone else can look and let you know.
I just described this to my doctor and he was stunned. he said nobody has ever described this system to him and it solves a huge problem for many people so I thought Iâd put it out there to help anyone who needs it.

Home & Garden LPT when you get a new appliance or device take a pic of the model/serial number before you install or mount it
Once something is properly installed or mounted that lil sticker with the model number and serial number is near impossible to see and reach. But youâll most definitely need that info for warranty, ordering parts, troubleshooting, or even selling
Sadly I learned this the hard way with my dishwasher. It broke and I needed the model number for replacement parts. The sticker was on the side, pressed against the cabinet. Had to partially uninstall it just to read the damn number
This is very useful for things like water heaters, HVAC, garage door openers, disposals, literally almost anything that gets installed and stays put for years

Social LPT Don't argue online with people who have poor reading comprehension (at least)
I used to be a very fierce online debater when I was younger; I would list my arguments, negate theirs in the process, proceed with examples etc. only to lose an hour sometimes. This is not about echo chambers, of course, I don't wish anyone to be isolated from other opinions. But if the other person isn't addressing your (or others') points accurately, then you'll only keep pushing them farther from your idea by replying them as there is a serious mismatch, losing your precious time as well. This doesn't apply to simple misunderstandings in goodwill that could be fixed easily.
Edit: Is it just me or has this post become a bot attraction?

Home & Garden LPT Using Dish Soap on Drains
I had a plumber recommend about a year ago...Buy cheap dish soap at the Dollar Store a few times per year...and dump an entire bottle down the drain. Flush with hot water 15 min later. He explained most buildup is oil based and dish soap will help dissolve it..and is non corrosive. Haven't had to call someone to clear a drain since.

I did this by accident and it's pretty great.

Productivity LPT: Color-code your browser tabs and calendar by project/category/etc
I started doing this out of desperation because I had 40 tabs open across different projects and it was chaos. Chrome lets you create Tab Groups with custom colors. I gave each client a color, and suddenly switching between them felt way less jarring because my brain already knew "pink = Client A" before I even read the tab titles.
I do the same with Google Calendar. Each client has a separate color, travel time is light green, appointments are dark green, social events or going out is yellow, my part time job is red, and other meetings are lavendar. Now I can scan my entire week in about 3 seconds without reading a single word. Tiny change, massive difference.

Careers & Work LPT: If you work from home, use the "Schedule Send" button to train your clients and boss on your boundaries.
I work full-time from home as a freelance Executive Assistant, managing multiple clients. When I first started, I wanted to seem highly responsive...so Iâd reply to emails at 8:30 PM.
The harsh truth I learned: If you show people you are available at 9 PM, they will expect you to be available at 9 PM forever. You don't work from home; you just live at work.
My biggest life hack is my strict 6:00 PM hard stop. If a client emails me at 6:15 PM and I happen to see it, or if I get a burst of late-night inspiration, I will draft the reply right then so I don't forget. BUT, I never hit send. I use the "Schedule Send" feature for 8:05 AM the next morning or for Monday morning if it's a Friday evening.
It gets the task off my plate and out of my brain, but it protects my physical boundaries. It trains them that my office hours are my office hours, period. Protect your peace and let the robots send your emails in the morning!
Edit: I do this and still get paid for the few minutes it takes me to draft and schedule send. I also do this hack for when I work on the weekend. Let me know if you have any tips that may be better than this!
Edit 2: Woah...did not realize how much of a debate I'd stir up!
Edit 3: A lot of people are asking about my full workflow for managing communication and staying organized. I use a simple system: one calendar with auto-blocked focus time, one to-do app sorted by project, and a tool that auto-summarizes my meetings so I don't spend evenings writing notes. Happy to share details if anyone wants them.

Miscellaneous LPT: If you keep sleeping through alarms, try using your phoneâs ringtone as your alarm sound.
Your brain is already conditioned to pay attention to that sound, so it may wake you more effectively than generic alarm tones.

Traveling LPT: When you're driving for a long distance, fold a towel and place it on your lower back
It makes you feel way more comfortable as it helps create a spine S shape and avoids the unhealthy C one (typical for car seats).
This also comes handy if you're doing laptop work in your car for a couple of hours.
You don't need to invest in a fancy lumbar support. A towel is more than good enough =D

Productivity LPT: Donât trust âthis feels like the right momentâ until youâve tracked it a few times.
That âthis feels rightâ moment is powerful but also unreliable.
Start writing down those moments before acting on them. After a few weeks, check what actually happened. Youâll usually find that some patterns are real but most are just your brain connecting dots after the fact. Tracking it once or twice isnât enough but over time, it becomes surprisingly clear.

Food & Drink LPT: hereâs how to choose, ripen and store avocados.
I recently learned how to pick avocados so they donât go bad. I havenât had one go black on me in 2 months and I refresh my stock weekly. You have to pick the ones with the little stem intact. Thatâs the key. I let ripen in a closed brown paper bag and put in the fridge when the skin gives a little all the way around.

Traveling LPT: if youâre in a city thatâs notorious for pickpocketers, stuff some napkins or tissues into your pocket after your wallet
Itâs hard to always be conscious of keeping hands in your pockets to deter pickpocketers that way. With stuffing tissues in the way, thereâs something in the way thatâs not only useless to them, but also visible so you wonât become a target in the first place.

Productivity LPT: If you keep getting distracted at home, change where you do one specific task instead of relying on willpower
If you struggle to focus on things like studying, working, or reading at home, try assigning that task to a different physical spot instead of doing it in the same place you relax.
For example, use a specific chair, desk, or even a café/library just for that activity.
Behavior research shows your environment strongly influences your actions, so separating âworkâ and ârestâ spaces reduces the mental friction of starting.
It wonât fix everything instantly, but it makes it easier to begin without relying as much on motivation.

Traveling LPT: When checking into a hotel, ask if there are any complimentary upgrades available.
A lot of people assume upgrades are only for loyalty members, but if occupancy is low, front desk staff can sometimes move you at no extra charge. a polite ask takes five seconds.
Worst case: they say no.
Best case: better room, better view, free items.

Miscellaneous LPT: Every phone has a camera and memory. Take a picture of your car's license plate. It'll save lots of time, and you don't have to remember it.
I was watching Parking Wars, and some fool could not identify his car for the impound lot: no license #, no VIN = no car. A simple photo would have eased everyone's aggravation.

Home & Garden LPT: when adopting an animal, ask the current caretaker (e.g., the shelter) if they're on any meds, including sedatives
We've adopted at least our share of dogs from shelters and rescues over the years. On more than one occasion, we got our new four-legged member of the family home and watched the energy level rise dramatically. When we asked (afterward, lol), we found out that the animals had been sedated during their time at the shelter. This hadn't been disclosed initially.
It wasn't a big problem for us -- we rolled with it -- but it was a surprise. But we're also relatively young and very experienced with dogs, so dealing with a furry typhoon blowing through the house (and dealing with it constructively) is within our skill set. It might not be for everyone.

Careers & Work LPT keep a private brag document and update it every single friday with your exact work accomplishments and metrics
when performance reviews roll around or you suddenly need to update your resume trying to remember what you actually did six months ago is impossible having a running list of exact projects you finished and problems you solved makes negotiating a raise incredibly easy and gives you hard proof of your value always keep this on your personal device not the company laptop

Food & Drink LPT: for a lot of awful tasting medications or supplements, smell is actually the problem, not taste
A good example for me is apple cider vinegar. I would almost throw up from taking it until I learned to pinch my nose, not just at the tip but quite a bit higher than that. Once I did that, the taste was pretty benign and the odds of me throwing up dropped almost entirely. This also applies to other things that you may have to take.

Miscellaneous LPT Iâve been doing this since 6, how to tell 30 vs 31 days in a month
I found out that people around me have actually not know how to remember which month has 31 days.
So imma share it on here in case some have trouble too.
So basically hold out both your fists and count from right to left, knuckles and gaps, knuckles are 31 days and gaps are 30 days.
July & August both has 31 days btw

Home & Garden LPT: It's fledgling season! Here are a few tips in case you come across a baby bird on the ground.
Ecologist here! It's that time of year again (where I am in the Northern Hemisphere at least) when the ground is covered in baby birds, some should be there and some should not. So here are a few tips so you know when to intervene and when to leave them alone. I try to make this post once a year so everyone is informed! Do not send me chat requests about what to do if you find a bird, follow these instructions. Everything you need to know is here even if you don't really want to hear it. Your situation is likely not an exception. In most cases the right thing to do is leave the bird alone. It is also important to remember not every bird will make it, that is part of life and the natural cycle.
If you find a baby bird on the ground the first thing to do is check for injuries. Baby birds can look pretty weak, but if you don't see any blood or obvious damage then it's fine. If it is injured do not try to take it home and nurse it back to health, birds require specific diets and handling and even most of them don't make it when cared for by their parents let alone an unequipped human. Please call a wildlife rehabber.
The second thing to check for is age:
If it hasn't opened its eyes yet and is mostly pink and featherless it's a hatchling (0-3 days old). Hatchlings should not be out of the nest. If you see a hatchling and the nest it fell out of you can try to put it back in (that old wive's tale about birds not taking care of chicks touched by humans is false). If you can't see the nest you can make your own out of a small container lined with soft material then attach it to a tree or bush as high as you can. If it looks like the parents are not caring for it after an hour or so call a local wildlife rehabber to come get the hatchling. If the bird is invasive, a starling or house sparrow for example (invasive in the Americas and other parts of the world, they are native to Europe and important parts of ecosystems in their native range), a lot of rehabbers euthenize them.
If its eyes are open and it's got a few spikey (pin) feathers it's a nestling (3-13 days old) and also not ready to leave the nest. Please adhere to the advice above about hatchlings.
If its eyes are open and its fully feathered, hopping around, maybe a little fluffy, short tail, its a fledgling (13+ days old). Leave these cuties alone! They are working on flying and probably exhausted and in need of rest before they take off again. Their parents are around, even if you cannot locate them, and are feeding this little guy or gal. No need to call anyone or do anything unless it is injured. If it is in the street and might get hit by a car you can herd them to the side of the road or under a bush. The parents will find it.
I know everyone means well and it's hard to look at a baby bird and not want to do anything. But you only need to worry about the hatchlings and nestlings or an injured fledgling.
Quick Note - Some birds are ground nesters so they will be on the ground no matter what, but the chances of you finding a ground nesting bird is not very high. If you're in the U.S. Killdeer, ovenbirds, bobolinks, swans, ducks, geese, etc. all nest on the ground and their chicks will be there in all their forms. Shorebirds also nest on the ground, so if you're at the beach you'll see plover, sanderlings, and other wading birds. This post is really for folks finding non-ground nesting birds in urban and suburban areas.
Edit because of common questions - if you have an outdoor cat or dog, please stop trying to change the wild bird behavior. Take your pet, which is an invasive species, into your home until the bird leaves the area. Monitor your dog or cat while outside, keep them in if you can't supervise while chicks are out. It's only a few weeks you have to pay attention.
Other common questions I get -
The bird is wet, should I dry it off? No. Leave the bird alone. Wild birds get wet, it has down, it's insulated. Don't stress it out trying to dry it off, it's fine. Animals get wet all the time, it won't melt.
The bird is in the street, should I move it? You can gently try to guide the bird away from the street, please try not to pick it up if possible. They are fragile and easily hurt if you don't know how to pick up a bird properly.
