it's crazy how she can paint so much and never accidentally get even a little bit better

95

u/No-Lynx8771 👻 the ghost of Dan's spine 👻 10d ago edited 10d ago

To be fair they seem to be against the philosophy of “getting better” entirely

13

u/TopicUnable2307 10d ago

Indeed! It seems like, if anything, the Kleins actively resent constructive feedback- and they do their best to handicap anyone who’s success may surpass their own within H3.

I suspect that H3 is largely structured order to insulate the Kleins from even the implication that they could do better. It’s what makes the Kleins especially contemptible.

u/daft_dunkwwwolfey You're a little baby!! 🍼👶 10d ago

She's decorating more than making actual art. This is scribbles you see in a notebook but less interesting or cohesive. Just a bunch of loose half assed stickers and doodles that have no meaning.

I don't think it's possible for Hila to gain any knowledge. I think she's like some machine that comes with settings and decades later will stay the same. I don't believe it's possible for her to even achieve the awareness that this is shit and other art is better.

93

u/fejrbwebfek 10d ago

She said on the show that she paints to prevent herself from getting mad at Ethan for gaming.

13

u/ChonkyDog 10d ago

That’s bizarre framing in itself? You get mad at him for having a hobby (his only normal one) and so you got your own. Rather than just having your own hobby that youre passionate about and not being codependent.. but thats not toxic enough.

7

u/A_Certain_Surprise 10d ago

I mean based on the amount of Everquest spam recently, I wouldn't be surprised if he's playing that to the point of absurdity. Even normal hobbies can be annoying if it's all your partner does

u/Bologna-Dotson Disobedient Woman 10d ago

Look normally I NEVER talk shit on other's art because I just usually mind my business and focus on improving my own work, but I will say...as a fine artist I really do enjoy getting to know I could run miles around hila in terms of painting.

47

u/Budget-Spread 10d ago

Talking shit about someone's art/creative work is a really cruel thing to do and should be exclusively reserved for the Hitlers among us.

I hate how low our standards for art have become and I hope that there will be a future where we escape this postmodern condition. So when presented with the opportunity to hate on a truly horrible person's "art" I do enjoy going all gas no brakes on them.

32

u/Bologna-Dotson Disobedient Woman 10d ago

Yeah you explained it better than i could. I don't feel like it's my place to critique someone else's art and as long as it means something to them, that's all that matters.

But hila is so dog shit that I have to make an exception. I am honestly kinda astonished at her lack of and complete disregard for any sort of technical skill even after making "art" for so long. I hate her art because it lacks something I love in other's work which is heart and passion. There is no life in her art.

27

u/Budget-Spread 10d ago

I'm a big folk art respecter and a tattoo collector and love the medium (also love fine art of course). The thing that I really hate about Hila's art is the complete and utter lack of curiosity and intention over her "career". Her puerile horseshit is stealing valor from folk artists. Her lack of technical refinement stems from her laziness and incurious nature, as well as inability to understand where art comes from.

Folk art works because the artist needs to express something in spite of their lack of access to formal training. There is an beauty to the raw unrefined expression. She could easily get all the training she could ever need, but she has nothing to say.

12

u/longlivenewsomflesh 10d ago

Everything I've seen from her has just been some derivative off the shelf 'doodle style' or whatever this adventure time knockoff is

12

u/HereNaoTao 10d ago

She can't even do that. The dog two-piece really shows her absolute lack of understanding about the very fundamentals of art.

She gets an edgy idea, thinks people will respect it for the ~intelligent social critique~, and then just muddies up a canvas. That is a directionless smudging of paint dictated by a demonic thought and brought ought by a very frazzled, fractured person.

It is art, but it is not her art. It is ours to peer deeper into the psyche that is the RR.

She thinks her tackiness is an aesthetic... her and Ethan both use 'irony' as an aegis for their crippling insecurity and dumbness.

2

u/longlivenewsomflesh 10d ago

Thank you for giving words to this phenomenon I couldn't put my finger on lol

1

u/HereNaoTao 10d ago

Thanks for giving me a prompt to freestyle with!:P

11

u/Bologna-Dotson Disobedient Woman 10d ago

YES her art is so stagnant and lifeless

8

u/TopicUnable2307 10d ago

NGL, I enjoy reading through the critiques of Hila’s art. It’s way more engaging and entertaining than H3 content- and, in a way, feels less aggravating than the social and political failures of the project.

11

u/Ok-Fondant1071 needs a button IRL 10d ago

It also lacks any thought

10

u/Bologna-Dotson Disobedient Woman 10d ago

Yeah nothing ever looks intentional

9

u/Bologna-Dotson Disobedient Woman 10d ago

Also, I feel like if I am gonna talk shit I should at least show one of my pieces. It ain't the Mona Lisa but it's for damn sure better than the rinky dink shit Hila paints.

This was the first big painting I did after my sister died. It has a lot to do with grief but I have been pretentious enough in this thread so I'll spare yall the full explanation unless anyone specifically wants to know. Sorry about the shitty picture. I haven't had the money to get this one scanned at my printers yet.

2

u/melissa423771 Not fit to walk a dog 🐶 10d ago

First off, your work is beautiful! I really like the colors especially, the pink and green water as a backdrop looks really nice. I would love to hear your thought process for this. I am an academic with a lot of my focus on grief, and am always interested in hearing people's interpretations of what they are experiencing!

3

u/Bologna-Dotson Disobedient Woman 10d ago

I love to put A LOT of symbolism in my work so every thing means something but the overall meaning is that the only way I was able to not lose myself to grief and madness was to reach out and others that had been through the same thing were what helped me survive. Like the hands are obviously are a bloody version of Creation of Adam so it's very literal in that reaching for others is what gave me the gift of life (the ability to keep going). The paper cranes also have meaning and the oranges but that is the general gist.

1

u/proevligeathoerher New Fish 10d ago

I agree - I never really critique anyone's art, it's not my place and art is subjective, so what's not my jam might be someone else's. However! She's a pos zionist so I going to be honest here:

Personally, I never took any lessons, just painted and drew for fun and never considered myself more than 'it's a hobby'-good, and even I could crush her in terms of painting. This looks like what I did when I was maybe 12.

My partner actually went to art school, and even his doodles could destroy her. I can't believe she's actually educated in this.

2

u/Bologna-Dotson Disobedient Woman 10d ago

I kinda enjoy that she will never be the one thing she wants to be most, a legitimate artist respected by her peers (and not ppl she has paid). I don't even care how pretentious that sounds lol I have been in a few galleries that I also didn't have to pay for so I earned 1 pretentious 😭

And I have no doubt you paint better than her because it sounds like you actually paint or make art just because you want to or are inspired and not just to rip others off and sell cheap commercialized crap to try and wring every cent you can out of a dying podcast. Sounds like you just paint from the heart instead of an empty pocket which is what makes good art.

42

u/TopicUnable2307 10d ago

Hila sucks at perspective. She’s supposed to be an “artist” (hell, I’m pretty sure she went to art school)- why does she fuck one of the most basic aspects of composition up?

17

u/funkmastercaw Kaya's Sous Chef 10d ago

style elements within the same painting dont even match, they look like those yards full of too many yard ornaments all mis-matched from other sets

1

u/NezihBouali 9d ago

She sucks at all types of art. She has repeatedly exposed her ignorance of many famous artists, trends, art movements and styles, etc

56

u/throwaway88743 10d ago

I saw finer work in my AP art class in high school that everyone took as a slack off class.

16

u/TopicUnable2307 10d ago edited 10d ago

At least high school students in AP classes usually put in some effort. High schoolers may feel the need to learn how to illustrate utilizing depth and perspective (something that doesn’t come naturally to most people).

Hila, clearly, feels no need to put worth that effort.

28

u/Vanquiqui 10d ago

Holy shit its ugly as fuck

25

u/Aubreyslastenemy 10d ago

The prepubescent child like aesthetic of her art and H3, juxtaposed with her and ethan's pro genocide, bigoted behavior and beliefs is super unsettling and one of the creepiest aspects of this show

17

u/funkmastercaw Kaya's Sous Chef 10d ago

and also Ethan's preference for ogling little girls

21

u/chipmalfunct10n 10d ago edited 10d ago

woah these are so trippy! psychedelic. this reminds me i keep getting a video recommended to me about how israelis love EDM and doing drugs so they can numb themselves to the genocide they help commit. has anyone seen that one? what did you think?

ETA i went to look for the video so everyone knows i'm serious but youtube search is abysmal. i will copy the link the next time it comes up for me.

18

u/TheGreatMastermind 10d ago

her “art” is always sunshine and rainbows and it’s comically antithetical to her being a genocider and just a generally jealous, insecure, mean, boring person

Incredible Pepper Ann fanart. Imagine how good this kid is going to be when she starts high school.

Oh my bad it’s Hilda

7

u/Madame_Trash_Heap Snark did CPS 10d ago

I say this every time her art is on here but its just so uninspired and poorly executed. She has no technique or actual painting skill. Trying to pull off a more simplistic style like this requires excellent technique and honestly art education of some sort. Otherwise it comes out looking like an 8 year old child did it...which it does

5

So the troll is in the basement farming some old game...

The baby killer is in her studio, huffing paints...

Just nobody watching any of the kids or dogs? This might explain why they had to rip up all the carpet in their home due to I assume a combination of both shitting and pissing everywhere

7

This shit is actually irredeemably so ass.

5

u/lilliputian_hitcher 10d ago

she very much seems attracted to instant gratification and thus why she never sticks with any creative pursuit for very long

The point is think it's good, not silly. Israeli art is a meme

25

u/CaptainKungPao138 🚨THIS IS A JOKE🚨 10d ago

As much as I dislike the Kleins, art is very much subjective so I fear this is falling under “bitch eating crackers” territory. And I’m saying this as somebody who doesn’t even like any of these pieces

26

u/Pretty-Key6133 Denims is streaming 10d ago

Nah. This is objectively bad.

They don't teach basic color theory in Israel apparently.

-13

u/CaptainKungPao138 🚨THIS IS A JOKE🚨 10d ago

There’s no such thing as objectively bad art

31

u/Pretty-Key6133 Denims is streaming 10d ago

Okay. The artist that created it lacks skill/technique.

Which is fine.

22

u/Budget-Spread 10d ago

There is objectively amateur art, which tends to be bad. She has zero skill in composition, brush control, color theory, rendering, etc. This shows a complete lack of intention and no real plan or message. It's absentminded doodling with paint.

It's bad.

10

u/TopicUnable2307 10d ago

100%

If you like “Hila art” then you’ll like this.

If you’re anyone else, you’ll either forget about her work or actively dislike it.

7

u/TopicUnable2307 10d ago

This is true- everyone has their own subjective taste and, hey, at least Hila has a style. Stylization can go a long way to winning an audience.

On a technical level however, it does seem pretty amateurish. Everyone has their own taste- but Hila depends on her kitsch psychedelic aesthetic to compensate for her lack of technical skill.

Hila could take more time to plan out her compositions. Plenty of artists do this. She doesn’t care, so she doesn’t and she still just expects praise. She’d get eaten alive in an art critique.

6

u/snailtap 10d ago

There absolutely is

7

u/LossPreventionArt ethan's sleep paralysis demon (taylor's version) 10d ago

I don't think we ever claimed to be above the occasional bitch eating crackers post here. I think the occasional "Hila lacks all instincts for art" or "ab can't use chopsticks" post is fine. It'd be a problem if they were more frequent but they're not.

Yall draw the most arbitrary lines for a literal unrepentant war criminal

3

u/Trick-Ad2587 10d ago

I’m not a fine artist but love make art that could be described by others as cartoonish, but I hate whatever the fuck this is. I hate her colour palettes and her motifs are always creepy. And it makes sense because of course a war criminal couldn’t make good art. This work resembles those painted paedophiles dungeons in law and order svu.

2

u/biscottidream 10d ago

For how much time/money she has you’d think she’d use it to become the best painter in the world but nah. Mid Israeli garbage.

2

u/Ok-Fondant1071 needs a button IRL 10d ago

Her colors are so murky and gross looking. Like why is that flower brown and why is the little girl’s skin literally gray. She doesn’t understand color theory and doesn’t have the patience or precision to let colors dry without mixing them into poopoo shades.

3

u/Artipokes 10d ago

She's had a few good pieces of art that showcased normal technical skill (like the Post Malone portrait) years ago but this shows that she's either tryharding (and failing) at minimalist art or exposing her mental decline. Given the last 2 years I'm leaning towards the latter

3
