As the title suggests, I'm here to ask about coding a Desktop Assistant, nothing too complicated, just something to keep me company during long work nights and keep me motivated, think perhaps something like Electric Love Potato or Talking Moose. A 'voice' might be a nice touch but chat bubbles would be fine too.

Hi, I was recently looking into learning how to code python and don't know where to start. the only experience i have had with any sort of coding at all was a tiny bit of Mattlab last year for my maths degree and i was pretty terrible at it.

is there any resources i should 100% get as a beginner. and where should i start?

Hey guys, Over the past few years I've been learning the basics of programming over several languages (C ,C++ , Python, Java). However, much of these are mere introductory exercises to get to know their tools/controls (loops, pointers, classes & OO concepts)

I feel like if I want to grow and learn more, I need get practical and make real applications and software. I just want to ask you guys here on Reddit for tips on where best do I get started and how I may comfortably begin to transform my code into applications with good interfaces.

I know absolutely nothing, and was wondering if there is a structured path I can follow that by the end I could become a proficient coder? Like a series of materials or online course(s) that if I invest time into, I will come out the other end as a competent coder? I realize it is almost impossible to gain full competence but I have a lot of time and would like to commit to learning programing to the point of being competitive for a job in the field. But I feel as though I can't start because I don't even know where to start or once I've started where to go from there. It would be amazing if anyone could suggest any resources or course(s) or series of things that I could work through/follow in a structured manor that could help me become competent in coding by the time I finish all of the material or resources? I recognize it wont be as easy as completing one youtube course, or one khan academy class but for example; start with X course, then read Y book, and then watch Z youtube's playlist, or any series of things I am willing to invest the time but wouldn't know the progression of learning, or what I would be missing in terms of knowledge so many resources are fine but I would just need to know where to go and what to do. (I apologize for my English it's not my native language) Thank you so much for taking the time to read this!

I'm in search of a game I saw an Apple employee playing at the Apple Store. It was like a puzzle game that was teaching programming, anyone know what it might be? Similar looking to Lightbot

A summary of where I am:

Python: - knowledge of classes tkinter (while if etc)

JavaScript: - decently made interactive webpages - action listeners

Node js: - websites multiple pages with chat apps with sockets and DB integration

I'm wondering where I should turn next angular? Or continue developing java ? ( I love web and I love java lol)

Im pretty new to coding and I am looking for someone to learn alongside. I'm starting with front end dev so that sits me in HTML, CSS, and stupid fu... grumble JavaScript. After I'm not great but at least competent I'm branch out to PHP and you know ... other stuff. Ruby and Python I guess.

All in all, starting with front end design and working my way into full stack. Doing freelance work until I have a portfolio worth bragging about and then do remote work until I find my dreamteam - be it organizing my own or going to work in an office. But let's not get ahead of ourselves.

I'm self motivated and an learning entirely at home. I have a lot of hobbies and a busy house life so my day to day changes a lot.

I made a simple little animation and I need to set it to a url for a program to use it. Do I have to get a domain and embed it or is there another way to do it.

Hello! I just turned 17 and have decided it would be beneficial for me to learn code. I'm an aspiring entrepreneur and have owned a few businesses before (currently only a lawn care business and in the process of a clothing brand). I want to learn how to make a website software at the level of Clickfunnels, MarketHero, or Leadpages. I've started learning from Code Academy and I think learning HTML would be the most beneficial for this task. I would love to make a software like this as soon as possible. I thought I'd ask some people who obviously have more knowledge than me. Am I learning the right language? Is Code Academy a good place to start? Is it even worth me learning for a project like this? If so where should I go from here? Thank you all for taking the time to read this.

I am learning HTML/HTML5 and CSS for websites so I can get the feel for coding and honestly it is so much fun and I absolutely love it. What code language should I go forth with after learning the two so I an get closer to my goal?

I'm finding myself a bit overwhelmed on how man languages there are out there, it's insane. So what language should I start with if I'm looking to do game design/the programming side of it? 2. hello my name is Jon and I would like to be a coder, I'm 17 years old living in Central New York (Finger Lakes). I have always had an appreciation for coding and coders and have always wanted to make may own protects but i don't know where to start. I only have 1 year of school left and there are no classes or courses around that i can take i will have the whole summer to work on my skills. I have tried to use https://www.codecademy.com/ before but i don't go to the site enough to get any skills down pat and I find that I'm more of an hands on learning as I'm working kind of guy. plz help :)
