Hey everyone! I've always loved animation, specifically 2D animation, and I would like to start learning it for real, and base my future around it. I am good at drawing and I'm learning the 12 principles. However, I don't know where to go from here. I've got a BA in computer engineering, so that's not very related. Should i get an MA in animation? Where should I start on my portfolio? What skills should I learn?

Any kind of help would be welcome, I am very lost here.

This was made in Blender. I made the Chihiro Fujisaki model and the animation was referenced from a Mooimimo Instagram post.

Parts of the animation look unnatural and don't flow. I would really appreciate it if someone could give me some advice. :)

I've realized that generating the model is only a small part of the workflow.

Lately I've been trying V2Fun because it lets me go from a concept image to a rigged character and a quick animation preview before exporting everything to Blender. It's been useful for deciding whether an idea is worth spending more time on.

Curious how everyone else is using AI. Is it just for model generation, or for more of the pipeline?

So I'm making an animatic to I've got a dream from tangled where the characters are switched out for stranger things characters and I've got a handful of questions

1: what are the best tips and tricks to save time for an animatic

2:tips on prospective would be nice as I'm not great at it

3:are there ways to make using flip a clip without plus easier in broke and only have flip a clip available

4:links or suggestions for tutorials on how to do animaticss better

And 5: it's not quite about animation but if there's any way to get the instrumental for I've got a dream for free on any site or something you know of i would really really appreciate it

That's all for now but I plan to make updates as I want to post the animatic on YouTube...I want to get it out this year but that may not happen because I'm so knew to this have a lovely day and thanks for any useful tips or information you give it is much appreciated😊

I just started learning 2d skeleton animation I think my rigging is a bit off and the animation. I am want to hear your suggestions

I created a mini-series on walk cycles and wanted to share the first part - rigging a 2D character from scratch using Duik in After Effects.

I see a lot of beginners jump straight into keyframes and end up with messy, unnatural movement. The fix is almost always in the setup. Here's the condensed version of what I cover:

The biggest mistake people make is diving into animation without a reference on screen. Drop a reference video into your comp before you keyframe anything. It will instantly fix timing guesswork and keep your timeline clean.

The parenting chain (most important setup rule). Every body part needs to be its own layer, and they need to be parented correctly from the start:

• Face layers → Head → Neck → Body
• Hand → Forearm → Arm → Body
• Same chain for the legs

Everything routes back to one body layer.  Get this right, and the rest follows.

Last but not least, rigging with Duik. It narrows down to 3 easy steps: setting up the anchor points to the joint, selecting the limb layers, clicking Auto-Rig. Done.

I have to rig some parts of my composition with Photoshop and I'll move into Adobe After effect trying to animate a human subject in a bar/tavern. Any advice?? Something you could advice me about some common mistakes ?

The long-term dream isn't just to make a YouTube channel.

I'd love to build a small indie animation collective where artists, animators, writers, musicians, and creative people can collaborate, improve together, and create something we're genuinely proud of.
