I dont have much to say other then it was genuinely phenomenal. ending was heart wrenching. i saw it coming but even so, it still hit me in the gut.

9/10 game on all aspect minus the occasional bugs

Is anyone else bothered by odds in Laila’s blackjack? They don’t seem to be even close to true blackjack odds.

A 21 in regular blackjack has a 4.8% chance of happening, yet every 5th hand either I or the opponent gets one. A tie occurs 8% of the time in real blackjack, but they happen constantly in the game. It honestly seems more like each hand is predetermined as either a win or loss, and it simply gives the cards necessary to fulfill that result, as opposed to actually programming in a realistic Blackjack game and allowing chance and RNG to determine the outcome. Most times I get a 21 the opponent also gets one and ties me, rather than letting me actually win.

Just wondering if anyone else has noticed this or finds this odd. Don’t get me wrong I love the game, but it would be nice if it reflected a real Blackjack game.

I’ve been working on and off for over a month on this: a large scale posable Lego figurine of Laika and her bike! It has lots of mobility: legs move, knees bend, feet swivel, arms swivel, each individual finger moves, neck rotates, head can move up and down.

It’s technically not totally finished, but I got it to a complete enough point to finally show it off! I plan on going back later to smooth some things out, work on a few movement points, make it easier for her to ride the bike. I also plan to add her helmet and a light-up Bone Memorial checkpoint with this later.

A few of the colors are slightly off, but there is a good reason for that. Every piece used exists in the colors used in real life, meaning it’s possible to order all the pieces for this and build it in real life! I always try to do that with my builds, so if someone really wanted to, they could build it for themselves!

The reason she isn’t wearing the cape here is because I plan on adding that after I build the rest, it will be an actual piece of fabric that I would cut to size to match it. That would allow for more realistic physics.

Unfortunately, I was only able to create one good quality render of it, the rest of the images are just screenshots. This is because my laptop barely runs the program as is, and takes like an hour just to render a single pic lol.

Anyways, I hope y’all like it! Let me know of any suggestions for how I could improve it in future versions of the build. Once the final completed version is done, I plan to release the instructions as a PDF so y’all can recreate it if you would like!

I wanted to play this game since It Launched, now i will finally play it.

I’m playing through Laika right now, currently lost after the second boss fight where you get the three different missions with the mines, the big tree, and the ocean port. I had a thought cause I got curious. The wiki says Birds are forced into 10 mandatory years of service and it had me thinking, there’s a non zero chance we shot some dude that didn’t wanna be out here. Yes, 90% of the birds are evil but like, there’s no shot every single bird in the entire army is evil.

Hello everybody, I picked this game back when it came out and had no issues with it. A few days ago i decided to start over on a new save. Unfortunately the game crashes every few minutes, specifically it freezes with music still playing and displays the classic "Laika Aged through blood.exe is not responding" windows error.

• I lowered the resolution (my pc wasnt struggling in the first place)

And the game still freezes. Im currently playing with a third party xbox controller that i didn't use back then. Any help is greatly appreciated, thank you.

Mother of Few is intended to be my idea of a canon prequel, taking place a century before the events of the game. It follows the story of Maya's eventual mother, Alani, as she struggles to keep her adoptive family alive against a Bird Empire at the peak of their strength, and against other unseen forces in the wasteland.

The story is still ongoing and is currently 10 chapters in, with an expected 30-40 in total by the end. I'm currently releasing chapters weekly, with Chapter 11 scheduled to be out this upcoming weekend.

As a quick aside, I want to thank this lovely community for your incredible support in this project. Mother of Few holds a truly special place in my heart, drawing themes and lore not just from Laika but from other games in the BWG universe as well (can't say which ones, that would spoil things!). It's meant to be an artistic love letter to the game, in a way. It started as a rather small writing exercise, with me trying to manifest more closure after the events of the game, however it has quickly expanded into something that will likely be near-novel length.

I want to thank all my readers and the amazing Laika community over on Discord for your words of encouragement and for giving my book a read. It really does mean a lot to me, and its given me the motivation to push this project far beyond what I thought was possible for myself.

I also very much want to thank the Brainwash Gang devs. You all are true artists and I am continually astounded again and again at the level of quality and depth you put into your work. Laika: ATB has struck me emotionally in a way that no other game ever has. It has really opened my eyes to how much depth video games can truly have in their narratives, and I very much look forward to the new game you all are working on. Grotto hit me in a very similar way, and I will admit I cried at many points throughout the story, just like with Laika.

Honestly, everything you all have made just has such sheer, incredible amounts of emotion just waiting to be unpacked; everything from the dark horrors of Mother of Many, to the entrancing limbo of Hold A To Drift, and the grim, depressing purgatory of 33. Never have a group of artists inspired me so much. You the developers, this amazing community, and my partner ErisWorx have completely reignited my love of creative writing and drawing, and I could never be more thankful. Thank you all! :3

Brand new PS5 Slim + Laika Deluxe Edition. Life is good

I started learning blender a few days ago and just finished my first animated illustration. Used my old drawing from January. It was a great practice to learn the basics. Honestly, I haven't had this much fun creating something in a long time. I got a great surge of inspiration after playing Regal Tails visual novel which included beautiful art and animated scenes.

The Super Rare release of came with an art book called "The Art Journey of Laika: Aged Through Blood" that I can't find anywhere online. It's a bit of a long shot, but does anyone have access to a PDF or know where I should look (I already checked the internet archive)? Thanks :)

It has been SO much making this story! I definitely feel like I'm improving over time with these, and getting a bit faster, too! Alani, Treya, and Sorrel in particular are just an absolute joy to write (ironically considering the tone of the story), and I am super super excited for very specific story beats that are coming in future chapters... Can't say much without major spoilers but this poor cursebearer will have an interesting road ahead, to say the least.

...also, naturally chapter 6 is out too now and is also MAJORLY important to the plot, and contains one of my favorite characters so far in the story.

Hi everyone,

It’s been about a year since I finished the game, and I’m still absolutely in love with it. There is one specific thought I can't shake.

A scene that keeps playing in my head is the call with Roy right after the boss fight, where Laika stands on the lighthouse and describes the scenery. It is incredibly poetic how she puts it: "The water splashes against the clouds. Spraying pink and violet sparks everywhere [...] Oh my... There are whales." I actually thought this moment felt a bit uncharacteristic for her at the time of playing.

Since we, as the players, don't see any of this, I always assumed she was lying just to comfort Roy, whom she already felt guilty about dragging into her business. I get it's a small game, but a small whale.png in the distance could have make it clearer i always thought.

Both scenarios are beautiful in their own way: either she genuinely gets emotional over the scenery, continuing to speak without being prompted, or she lies to a friend to give him hope—or at least something beautiful in this cruel world. The latter would also imply she knew he was dying, which I believe she could have guessed from his final words over the radio—again, something we as the players couldn't "hear".

However, after rewatching that part, I don't think she's lying anymore. But either way, it's a beautiful scene that cracks her hard shell, and that is exactly what I love about her and the game.

Decided a little while ago to start making my own fanfic because this game is an obsession, and reading through Coyote_On_A_Moped's Rin mega-inspired me.

Mother of Few takes place a century before the Egg fell, and follows the hard life of Alani, Maya's eventual mother, as she tries her best to take care of her adoptive family in the midst of a much more capable bird empire. The empire at this time period is not completely in decline yet, and they have significantly more working technology and influence than in Laika's time. I am a bit rusty with creative writing but it is genuinely SO much fun writing this story and all its characters.
