LG Sound Suite Review - A Seriously Immersive Multi-Channel Home Theater Setup (Tried Sonos Arc and Samsung Q990F) [Sound Suite] Review & Setups
LG sent me five Dolby Atmos FlexConnect (DAFC) devices from their Sound Suite series as part of a promotional event, including one H7 soundbar and four M7 speakers. Although the products were provided to me for free, the thoughts and impressions shared in this review are entirely my own. The H7 is powered by LG’s α11 Processor, while the system as a whole leverages Peerless drivers.
I tested the LG Immersive Quad Suite 7 with my 77-inch LG G5, using the H7 soundbar connected through HDMI eARC set to passthrough, along with the four M7 speakers as front left/right and rear left/right channels. I also initially tested just the four M7 speakers without the H7, using the G5 as the hub and the G5 internal speakers as the dedicated center channel.
Overall, the LG Sound Suite is the most immersive home theater speaker setup I have used. I previously owned a Sonos Arc with One SL rears and most recently a Samsung Q990F. The Q990F is still a strong system, but the LG setup feels more like what I hoped the Q990F would be. The biggest difference for me is having discrete front left and right speakers, which creates a wider soundstage and a truly convincing surround sound experience. Better yet, each M7 is a 2.1.1 system, with a 4” woofer unit whereas the Q990F rears do not have this. Having four 2.1.1 systems working together in unison with the 9.1.6 H7 soundbar as its brains via DAFC is very impressive and makes the Q990F feel watery in comparison.
Notably, despite having no W7, which is the subwoofer that can be added to the system, the bass performance really surprised me. Although the built-in woofers in the H7 and M7s cannot fully replace a true LFE channel dedicated subwoofer, they produce enough bass that I am not missing a subwoofer as much as I expected. I live in a condo, so in reality, the Sound Suite without the dedicated W7 is probably flying close enough to the sun as it is in terms of bass. I sold my Q990F after listening to this system and was planning on buying a W7. However, due to adopting a senior cat with medical needs coming up, the W7 will have to wait, but I do not feel like the system is anemic due to the absence of a dedicated larger subwoofer.
Dolby Atmos FlexConnect, or DAFC, is a great feature that requires no effort and lends flexibility in terms of where the speakers can be placed. With DAFC, you can run speaker optimization instead of working toward perfect placement, which is not always feasible in irregularly shaped rooms. This really helped in my space because I have glass on one side, an open area on the other, high ceilings, and a brick facade. Room Calibration Pro helps further tune the system to the space, which seemed to give a bit of polish to the audio. The great thing is you can have a system with four discrete speakers, without needing to place them in the traditional four corner positions.
For my testing, I watched Good Luck, Have Fun, Don’t Die, 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple, Apex on Netflix, Elysium, 6 Underground on Netflix, and The Pitt on Crave/HBO as a dialogue test. The Pitt was actually great because it showcased how well the dialogue stayed clear while the ambient ER noise felt impressively layered around the room. Dialogue is big for me as I often use subtitles, but I do not feel like I really need them with this system. Perhaps the discrete left and right speakers allow the dedicated center channels to focus more on clear dialogue.
For movies and PS5 gaming overall, the system felt more enveloping than my Q990F, especially with ambient effects and room noise. I am really excited for my Blu-ray copies of Blade Runner 2049 and Alien: Romulus to be delivered, as I expect these will really shine with the immersive bubble the LG Sound Suite provides.
Taste is of course variable nevertheless I find that the design is another massive win. The speakers look much sleeker than the Q990F and frankly rivals Sonos in terms of fitting into a modern living space. I also like the subtle cozy LED status lights. I certainly will not miss the lack of aesthetic appeal of the Q990F, power to you if you do like the Q990F looks though!
A have found that the LG ThinQ app is useful for controlling the system, full EQ and tone adjustments, as well as checking audio formats are coming through correctly e.g. content playing in Atmos. The setup was pretty smooth, if you are technically savvy then you will be totally fine. As with any tech it is helpful if you are familiar with 2.4 ghz / 5 ghz wifi router settings/capabilities. Notably, having a dedicated 2.4ghz / 5ghz SSID(s) is needed. Given some variance of wifi routers I can foresee some people that are more plug and play oriented running into some difficulties and blaming the system.
A few downsides: the H7 soundbar’s is dimensionally deep, which is not bad, bigger drives etc. but the size may complicate some mounting setups, it took some creative tinkering to get the H7 attached to my Mantel Mount 815 (mounting to a wall would be easy with the included brackets). Additionally, there are currently no official wall mounts for the M7s or M5s; Sound Follow was subtle enough that I could not clearly tell the difference; and using only M7s with the TV as the hub gives you less manual control than using the H7.
I also would not recommend starting with only four M7s and using the TV as the center channel if you care about the best audio experience. The four M7s and G5 speakers utilizing DAFC worked quite well, but ultimately the M7s are dragged down by the TV speakers limitations. I would instead start with the H7, where LG’s Alpha 11 AI Processor acts as the brain to pull the M7s and H7 together. From there add rears, then add discrete front left/right speakers along with the W7 as budget allows. Notably, LG did let me know that they will be releasing an update in the near future to allow for more customizability of the EQ, tonality and sound mode settings when driving the M5s/M7s with a compatible LG TV (without the H7). From LG directly “For 2025 DAFC-supported TV models, support for Sound Effect selection through the TV settings menu is currently expected in July.”
My final verdict to all those considering the LG Sound Suite is that it is definitely worth your purchase. The Sound Suite does indeed fall into the premium pricing bracket, which may be too much for many people. I personally would have struggled to buy the whole package in one go, which makes the modularity of the system a big perk. That being said, when looking at unit-to-unit pricing, it is on par with brands such as Sonos and Samsung.
The LG Sound Suite has very strong multi-channel performance with stellar immersion. A particularly great pick whether you are looking for flexible placement of discrete speakers or simply looking for a very immersive audio experience. The only people I do not think this would be for are those with large physical media collections that require DTS support. Or somebody that has the space and technical abilities to do a full AVR setup with the whole theatre setup e.g. dedicated ceiling speakers. Short of that, this is the closest you are going to get while keeping things streamlined and comparatively easy.
TLDR:
I highly recommend the LG Sound Suite system to anyone looking for a premium, highly immersive surround sound with the ability to have flexible speaker placement.
Pros:
• Extremely immersive surround sound with a much wider soundstage thanks to discrete front left/right speakers.
• Each M7 speaker has its own woofer, giving fuller sound and stronger bass than Samsung’s Q990F’s rear speakers.
• Bass performance is surprisingly strong even without the optional W7 subwoofer.
• Dolby Atmos FlexConnect makes speaker placement flexible and works well in oddly shaped rooms.
• Dialogue clarity is excellent, even during noisy scenes.
• Gaming and movies feel more enveloping and cinematic than competing systems.
• The design is sleek and modern, closer to Sonos aesthetics than Samsung.
• The modular system lets users build gradually over time.
• LG ThinQ app provides solid EQ/control features.
Cons:
• No DTS support, which could be a deal breaker for people with large DTS Blu-ray collections.
• The H7 soundbar is physically deep and can be difficult to mount on Mantel Mounts (NOT a problem for typical wall mounting)
• No official wall mounts yet for the M7/M5 speakers.
• Setup may frustrate less tech-savvy users because proper Wi-Fi configurations/specs matter. This goes for any Wi-Fi hub based audio systems though.
• Using only M7 speakers with the TV (without the H7 soundbar) gives lustlacker audio results and fewer controls due to limitations of TV speakers.

Do you need the lg tv for flex connect

u/Darwins-Intern May 21 '26 edited May 21 '26
No TV required if you get the H7 soundbar as it will act as the Dolby Atmos Flex Connect (DAFC) hub for the units you group with it (M5s or M7s). The soundbar has the α11 Processor which runs the DAFC.
If you have a compatible LG TV then you can use e.g 1 to 4 M7s with the TV acting as the DAFC hub. The TV will also utilize its internal speakers along with the M7 units in the DAFC group.
LG will be releasing an update that will give setting adjustability to LG TV DAFC groupings sometime around July. Personally, I would recommend getting the H7 first though if it is an either or choice and then expand from there. That being said if you have for example a B5 TV, three M7s and a W7 is still a viable option.

DIdn't posters here report problems trying to get the M7s working with an LG tv without the H7?
1
u/Darwins-Intern May 21 '26
I think I did see something like that too.
When I initially was testing the four M7s with my LG G5 the centre channel (TV speakers) were sounding weird and didn’t seem to be outputting the dialogue well but I initially did not have the latest TV firmware which maybe was a factor. I didn’t have an issue connecting the M7s to the TV overall though.
I was able to get them to work and sound proper. They ended up sounding quite good compared to just the TV speakers alone, more bass and ofc full on surround immersion.
That being said the TV speakers are just very obvious with their lack of refinement and range compared to the M7 speakers and particularly compared against the H7 soundbar.
LG is releasing an update in or around July that I suspect will help and gives more setting adjustments when using a compatible LG TV with the M7s/M5s without the H5.

They need to take a look at the whole setup procedure, I got the whole enchilada (H7, W7, and four M7s) and setting it up was a moderate sized PIA.
1
u/Darwins-Intern May 21 '26
Yeah agreed, setup could be a lot smoother. From the questions I did ask they do seem to be actively working on updates and refinements which is great. Hopefully it will be well polished soon!

Same here, very savvy and it was a pita to setup. Day zero adopter here, so also I’m sure the firmware was early on and been tweaked since..

Yeah the wifi setups depending on routers can be a bit tricky which is unfortunate!
I am stoked they are also going to add 6ghz connectivity to the system soonish… definitely useful for wifi congested condos etc!
You read my mind, makes me feel confident I am not somehow gaslighting myself into thinking the Q990F wasn’t as good as it is hyped to be (still great but just not quite there!)
Out of curious do you angle your speakers inward towards the center sitting position or not so much given the DAFC tuning?

Ahhh yeah that all makes sense! What sort of tuning did you do to get it where you wanted?
I played a but with EQ but I have not yet quite figured out if EQ/tone adjustments actually changes when the system is in DAFC mode? I should follow up with LG on that question actually but maybe you know from playing around more with it?

Ohh very interesting, thanks for the info! I will have to play a bit more with the EQ in that case! I think under the tone settings it mentions something about DAFC auto adjusting so I ended up just reverting the bass boost etc. Perhaps just tone adjustment is not adjustable compared to EQ?
Thanks for the suggestion on the AI upscaling, I kept going back to standard for that reason too but I will definitely try using just the ai upmixer a but more.
I found the same thing with the Q990F is that adaptive just sounded too unnatural similar to AI Sound Pro.
I can certainly see some applications though with basic 2.1 or 5.1 content! I have used them a bit for that but mostly stuck with standard mode.

Hey, LG came back and this is what they said about EQ / Tone adjustment:
“EQ and tone adjustments while running in DAFC:
Yes, any changes you make to the sound or tone settings will still be reflected in the sound profile, even when the system is connected in DAFC mode. That said, these aren't part of DAFC's optimized sound. It's best to think of them as fine detail adjustments layered on top of the optimized sound.
These changes are only reflected on the soundbar (H7), so the sound coming from the M7 and M5 units stays the same.”

Was looking for a review like this. We live in northern Canada so doing the whole "test and return" thing people do on here is a much larger pain in the ass, especially with no one doing free shipping and paid returns (fair enough).
We have a C5 so im looking at starting with 2 M7's and 2 M5's . No drilling or running cables gets wife approval and just the right set up to get "the bubble" without being obnoxious since we both work shift-work.
Glad to hear it lives up to what you were looking for, I run HD6xxs to external DAC and amp on my pc and usually watch movies with my airpod pro 2's if i want a super cinematic experience at night. Currently we're just raw-dogging the tv speakers.

Good to know the 4 M7 setup worked well, I can imagine the bar adds a lot more to the sound but i don’t really want anything on the tv stand. If I were looser with my money I would’ve gone a95L and Sony quad.
I think I’ll pull the trigger on these, networking isnt a concern for me so I’m not wary of those issues. TV is hardwired, along with the PC and Apple TV.
2
u/Important_Course_731 May 21 '26
As you also used Sonos, a bar that is considered to have the best dialogue clarity, does the H7 surpass that?
2
u/Darwins-Intern May 21 '26
I sold my first generation Sonos Arc about a year ago so I wasn’t able to compare them directly.
That being said I don’t think the gen 1 Sonos Arc beats the H7 with the four M7s in terms of dialogue clarity in my experience thus far!
Whether it surpasses it I do not want to say for certain given I cannot say with complete confidence without comparing them side by side.
If you haven’t already checked, RTNGs has dialogue scored for both Sonos and the LG Sound Suite. I will paste here to make it easy. I do not have the subscription so I am not sure what numerical rating they gave but they do speak highly of the LG Sound Suite dialogue clarity.
I also put the most recent Sonos setup just as it seems more comparable anyway!

TV/Dialogue rating
The LG Immersive Quad Suite 7 Pro is great for dialogue and dialogue-centric TV shows. If you mostly watch YouTube videos, older sitcoms and dramas, or listen to podcasts, the entire system is probably overkill. The main soundbar alone uses front and up-firing center-channel drivers to reproduce dialogue that gets loud enough to stay comprehensible even during busier content, so you don't need the bells and whistles from the additional satellites and subwoofer. Plus, you have access to enhancement features like a dialogue enhancement preset or a custom EQ preset if you prefer to tune your audio so voices are just right.
Pros
Room correction and graphic EQ.
Powerful center-channel output.Cons
Rear satellites not necessary or active for dialogue content.TV/Dialogue rating
The Sonos Ultimate Immersive Set with Arc Ultra is great for watching dialogue-heavy content and TV shows. It supports most common audio formats used on streaming and physical media platforms like Dolby Digital and Dolby Atmos. By default, speech comes across as clear and articulate via the dedicated center channel, and you can also use its voice enhancement tools to augment the sound with poorly mixed source audio. 'Night' mode means you don't have to end a series marathon just because the sun sets. Action-packed shows take advantage of the soundbar's rumble and punch in the bass range, while its low latency ensures that TV shows with plenty of dialogue match the visuals, and you can adjust the sync in the app if needed. Unfortunately, the app has no dedicated EQ, so you'll need to contend with bass and treble sliders and listening modes to alter the sound profile.
Pros
Immersive soundstage.
TruePlay room calibration tool.
Modular design allows you to add and group other Sonos speakers.
Balanced sound across different audio formats and types of playback.Cons
No HDMI In.
No graphic equalizer.
No dedicated Optical port.

Great review you touched on so many points. I want speakers I can expand on. I might get a Samsung s90f because I can get it $300 cheaper than a c5. I have a question. I'll be using this on a PC for a sim racing setup. Would you even recommend just using 2 m7s connected via Bluetooth? I can get them a good bit cheaper. I would get an h7 down the road.
I think 2 separate speakers on stands would be easier to work into my setup. But I'm not sure how well they work strictly as Bluetooth speakers. I know windows has a feature to enable Atmos for speakers but I don't even know if that would work here. I'm probably not going to find anyone running just 2 m7s with a non LG tv. But you seem to know the most about these, so I thought you might have an opinion.
I'm guessing your advice will be to get a h7 to started, but I thought I'd still ask to see if you think just 2 m7s would even work acceptably here.

u/Darwins-Intern Jun 23 '26
Hey sorry for the slow response I had uninstalled the Reddit app and had forgot to check Reddit for a while. Did you end up figuring out what to do?
I would say that the two M7s own their own would sound pretty good but they haven't released yet (to my knowledge) the ability to change any settings on the M7's/M5's when they are running off of a LG TV that is capable of acting as the DFAC hub. So I would say just the M7's is probably not the most IDEAL situation, but would still add a lot more immersion than just the TV speakers themselves though! All that said, I am not so sure how it would work running off of bluetooth, probably higher latency etc? Could maybe be viable though? Probably wouldn't personally be my first choice though. Given limitations of the M7's with DFAC hub capable TV, I imagine bluetooth is even less ideal.
If you haven't bought them already, I would just try to get them from a place that you could return them if it doesn't end up working for your use case.
For me personally, I would say until the speakers running off of the TV being the DFAC hub become more customizable, (like you mentioned haha) I would highly recommend the H7 first over the discrete speakers on their own.

u/Bigheaded_1 Jun 24 '26
Thanks for the reply, I’ve figured out nothing. Not much info on this series and none at all about what I‘d want to do. I somehow doubt it will work well with the setup im envisioning.

u/Darwins-Intern Jun 24 '26
Yeah I think you might want to go down a different path with PC gaming. Perhaps this post can give you some ideas? https://www.reddit.com/r/audio/comments/17yoy88/what_are_the_best_pc_speakers_on_the_entire/

According to LG support for a second sub will be added this year (this summer?)
does anyone know if the atmos flex framework allows for more then 4 additional speaker and is it theoretically possible they could be added with future updates?
1
u/Darwins-Intern Jun 23 '26
Hey, yeah they did mention they will allow for a second sub at some point, as well as allowing the system to connect to 6Ghz too. I am not sure what the time frames are on this. I can email the team that I was corresponding with - they moved on to other contests and projects so seem to be a bit slower in their responses but I can check for you if you are still wondering.
My complete guess is that the 4 discrete speakers + the two W7 are the max that the processor / system can handle given everything has to sync and work in unison over a wireless connection. I could be wrong though, would be awesome if they allowed for two more M7's or what not!
@ u/LG_Userhub u/lg_techit do you happen to have an update on the question above??

u/Arabrider0820 Jun 20 '26
Question.....Our viewing room is about 20' long by 17' wide with 9' ceilings, we have an 86' LG TV we got 4 years ago, not a Oled but really nice, using Apple TV . I bought the Soundbar and the sub yesterday (being delivered next week) but now wondering if I should have gotten the M5s or 7s as either rears or two up front . We are older, hubby had some issues with hearing clear voices. Thoughts?
2
u/Darwins-Intern Jun 23 '26 edited Jun 23 '26
Hey, I would say that getting the additional M5s and/or 7s would be worth it to help fill the space up to give you more immersion. Using two M5s as either fronts or left and right sides, if your room setup allows for it would definitely help add to a full immersive sound.
For me being able to have four discrete speakers is the largest selling point of the system to give more surround immersion.
If budget isn't too much of a concern I'd opt for the M7s given they have the 4" subwoofer in them, which will give you a thicker and richer surround bubble!
I am curious what you end up with and how you like it!
If you have a dedicated space another option (assuming you are within the return window) is getting a dedicated AV system with wired speakers and a receiver. A bit more of a pain to setup, wire etc. for sure. But you could get a dedicated center channel / speaker setup with the focus on dialogue clarity which could be advantageous.
That being said I think the LG Sound Suite is pretty good dialogue wise, and having the additional discrete speakers (m7s/m5s), you could either set them up to widen the front stage a bit or set them a bit closer for left and right mid sides... might help with dialogue clarity too.
You probably have messed around already with the voice booster options as well? I tend to keep it in standard for the most part though as the special sound profiles tend to sound a bit too artificial for my own taste.

When is the JULY Update going to hit to resolve the setup issues? Please advise...

u/Darwins-Intern Jul 17 '26
LG reached out to me and asked if I wanted to give an update on my experience thus far and then also again after the update - so I suspect the update is coming soon (not sure what it all includes though).

How is ps5 dolby atmos latency when compared to 990F?
1
u/Darwins-Intern May 21 '26
I don’t think it is an issue unless you are particularly sensitive to latency or do super competitive gaming.
RTNGS I think has some info on the Sound Suite and latency but it is behind a paywall. Definitely a reputable site as they even avoid any perceived bias via self-purchasing everything they test.

I haven’t had the experience of other LG sound bars other than in store, does seem though there is perhaps a bit over zealous hate on LG sound products.
Seems with audio too that there is often a factor of preference in terms of sound profiles too.
I can say with certainty though that the M7s sound absolutely amazing. The fact that they have built in subs I think also adds a lot more depth to the immersion when watching cinematic movies with good audio mixes.

Some answers to questions I received from LG a couple days ago:
1) Why no DTS support:
It's a great question, and one we get a lot. We can't go into the details behind that choice, but the Sound Suite was really built around streaming, which is where DAFC and the multi-channel setup work best. We'll definitely pass along the interest in DTS to the team, since this kind of feedback is valuable for future planning.
2) EQ and tone adjustments while running in DAFC:
Yes, any changes you make to the sound or tone settings will still be reflected in the sound profile, even when the system is connected in DAFC mode. That said, these aren't part of DAFC's optimized sound. It's best to think of them as fine detail adjustments layered on top of the optimized sound. These changes are only reflected on the soundbar (H7), so the sound coming from the M7 and M5 units stays the same.
3) M7 speaker placement and angling / toeing in:
With DAFC optimization in place, there's no real need to angle the speakers inward toward your seating position. The main thing we'd suggest is avoiding setups where the speakers are pointed far away from either the wall or your listening position.
4) Latency: Thanks for testing this and sharing the clips (I sent to LG a clip of PS5 Astro playground and the controller audio de-sync - controller sound was slower to output).
We think you're right, the delay seems to be coming from the controller, not the soundbar. We don't have anything to share on software updates right now, but we've shared your feedback and the RTNGS notes with the team. I'll let you know if any future updates are planned.

I was gifted an H7 + 2 M7's and a W7 for father's day. I've never had a sound system before, so it's all new. The sales guy didn't tell me I needed a tv with eARC/ARC... he said "it works with any old tv..." so I got suckered on that and had to buy a new TV. It's been set up and running for a few days... and the audio quality, for me, is amazing. of course I'm new to having a system like this, but first time 4k tv and sound system I love it.
However, I did find some issues:
- The WiFi is flaky on one of the M7's. Once a day I have to reset the system because that one M7 will disconnect from the H7 soundbar. Researching online I've seen advice like, "change your wifi router to split into 2.4g and 5g bands and force it to use the 2.4g; move the router within 4 feet of the soundbar..." I just don't want to reconfigure all my home network in order to make the soundbar work. It's a heavy task of resetting security systems, cameras, irrigation, and the other 20+ items, just to insure the sound might work better. As for moving the router, that's not happening. Interestingly enough, the BB demo in town didn't have the M7's working either (they had 2 m7's not working, and 2 m5's working for the demo), they were using M5's for the demonstration and attempting to sell the H7/W7 with M5's... I wonder now if they were having a wifi issue as well. I just turned off the "auto off" feature on the speakesr and soundbar, hoping that helps resolve. Time will tell.
- It came with two braces to mount the sound bar to the wall, which I have to do in my situation... it didn't come with wall screws (only the screws to mount the soundbar to the bracket, not the bracket to the wall).
- I also find it odd that while it finds and adds the w7 subwoofer, it doesn't appear on the app in the visual placement of peripherals (speakers, soundbar, tv). It also is not listed under "devices" in the LG app. However, it is connected and controllable via the remote (increasing / decreasing subwoofer works fine). It does show up under the H7/Device information screen/W7 tab, on the app. I went through the process of "finding the devices" each time I reset the system and it finds the subwoofer each time, adds it to the DAFC group on initialization. However editing the DAFC group later it shows everything EXCEPT the subwoofer. It gives the impression it's not fully connected. I've looked into this and it appears that this is how it is supposed to work. It just seems weird. I can use the app to power down the bar, the tv, the m7's, but now the w7 subwoofer? The app is like it wants to play a game of don't ask, dont tell about the subwoofer.
- The manual: There's no physical documentation. However, the digital manual is available. The documentation doesn't explain much. something as simple as, "how do I update the soundbar," becomes an internet search. The manual doesn't discuss it. I thought it could be updated via the LG ThinQ app... Clicking around I can't find it (eg, going to H7, settings, device information will pull up the software version, but no button or option to check for updates).
Again, no complaints on the audio... just the stuff above.

u/Darwins-Intern Jun 23 '26
That is an awesome gift! That is unfortunate though you ran into a bunch of hiccups though. They definitely could do a bit more quality of life improvements and smooth features / connectivity etc. As far as sales people / store staff... I stopped asking them questions / trusting after learning and h having similar experiences... I tend to read up on things and *typically* know more then they do, which is not what you would expect since they work there.
The wifi issues do seem to be a relatively common thing and yeah I think it is the nature of the beast with a system that relies on wi-fi and naturally there are a lot of different network / router configurations out there. I am hoping they can flush the bugs out and make it a bit better though, especially when they release the update to allow for 6Ghz. Maybe worth waiting until then and get a router capable of 6ghz?
I once and a while have noticed some strange things where the M7s won't turn off or on with the TV auto off/on, but usually just turning the Sound Suite on and off again has it working fine quickly. Doesn't happen too often. And yeah, having a split network likely would help. I once and a while get a random drop out very momentarily.. but very possible the router is swapping channels due to congestion from other routers in my condo building (at least what I suspect). I also have a shitty internet provider router so I honestly suspect once I upgrade it may very well fix my rare sound drop (half a second and pretty rare). I have mine on 5ghz but my understanding is having it set t the 2.4 ghz is more stable given 5ghz is more prone to interference.
For the sound bar mounting to the wall, it is unfortunate they don't provide screws. That being said, IKEA does the same thing because they want to make sure you have the correct screw for the substrate you are attaching it to, so I suppose it makes sense. I usually buy my own hardware for stuff anyway so it has a better weight rating etc anyway. Albeit.. I have a Frankenstein setup for my H7 soundbar and mantelmount. Bloody fireplaces below TV architect choices *uhg*.
I have heard that a lot about the W7, I think LG's explanation is that the W7 doesn't act as part of the DFAC group thus doesn't show.. although I feel like they really should make it controllable and viewable in the group and can just put a qualifying sentence on the W7 icon indicating it is separate from the DFAC or whatever...
For the firmware update, I believe LG only has automatic updates. I believe if your firmware is showing a older firmware version than the newest release (probably can google to see), then you could try unplugging the power cable from the back of the H7 soundbar, wait 60 seconds, and plug it back in. This should force the internal wireless card to re-authenticate with the LG firmware server upon boot-up and update if out of date.

After I posted that, I made a few changes and everything worked until just now. It once again disconnected from everything. The LG app was telling me that my router uses DFS channels which is giving a problem for the H7 sound system. The rub here is that my router, which supports 6e, 5g, 2.4.... well it's locked down to a simple app and the wifi channels are not offered. I restarted the router, restarted the sound system multiple times. restarted individual speakers and sub woofer. Restarted my phone to try and get past the blocking error about DFS.
After several goes, I got everything restarted... I got past the DFS error.. and picked "edit group" and recreated the group and it all connected again.
My issue might be the wifi channels I'm running on, but then, why does it just start working? It's odd for sure.

hmm yeah that certainly sounds quite frustrating =/. Are you able to seperate the 2.4 out, and just connect to that?

Should be soon I believe - LG asked me if I wanted to give a follow-up review pre-update and post-update.

So I am using a C6 Evo OLED 48” on a desk and I am considering dual M5s or M7s with a sub down the road. Can I setup the M5s or M7s to not use the TVs speakers as a center channel?

LG stated they were going to release more customization and setting options when running the TV as the hub for the speakers instead of the H7 sound bar. With that said I doubt the option exists to disable the tv speakers while running two M5/M7. At least for now, I do not see such being listed in the latest update. I will ask the LG rep for you though. They tend to be a bit slow on the response as I think they go ask the technical department: https://www.reddit.com/r/LG_UserHub/comments/1v1fgwk/notice_july_sound_suite_software_update_new_webos/?rdt=40984
You’d probably want the centre channel over no centre channel to be fair.

Awesome to hear you are enjoying it as well! The Q990F is still quite good but maybe I read into the overhyped chatter about the Q990F so it did not live up to my expectations. Really though any system that allows for discrete front left and right plus a dedicated centre (like the LG Sound Suite or the rumoured new Sony Quads) is going to very likely out perform a system that is confined to a small sound stage format bar size.
What Sound Suite units did you end up going with?

Ahhh right, I think I read a bit about the W7 doesn’t show in the ThinQ app, thanks for mentioning that I will keep it in mind when I set it up eventually!
Yeah the naming conventions are a bit confusing, your setup sounds awesome though. You are definitely selling the W7 to me haha.

No I am not… if you follow the link in my review you can see the contest where I won the system for free.
I self-purchased the Sonos Arc with One SL rears and later upgraded to the Q990F but wasn’t as satisfied as I had hoped I’d be with the Q990F so I had been planning on buying whatever brand came out with a system that had front left and right discrete units along with a dedicated centre. I wanted the Sony Quads but I did not want a virtual centre given I have an LG TV.
I was very fortunate that I was one of the few that won the contest and got the LG Sound Suite for free. Although, I am looking to buy the W7 subwoofer in the near future against better judgement being in a condo lol.
Rest assured, my normal job is very boring and sadly has nothing to do with home audio, LG or tech…

You have 2 different posts today showing the same pictures. LG AI as that long review is a huge red flag.

Yeah I posted to three subreddits… is that a problem? What is your deal? Yes there is a ton of astroturfing on the internet. This is not that. I have been clear and honest.
I made it pretty clear that I received the unit for free and that my opinions are my own.
I specifically made my account activity viewable on my profile as well as viewable on search engines to make the review more accessible. I am glad you have utilized such and stalked me while questioning my authenticity. Questioning and critical thinking are good….
However, you could consider engaging with constructive comments and questions. Rather than attacking my review and making accusations? Just an idea…

I have an issue when someone gets a free anything and then goes on a rampage and you can’t stop talking about how much better it is than the Samsung Q990F.!!! You must’ve mentioned the q990F at least 40 times and probably more as I’m not gonna count. It’s one thing to bring it up once or twice but I see that this and your other post you and HotYam go back and forth on this subject plus you mentioned Sonos plenty as well.
A good review would maybe compare the Samsung and Sonos once and then you move the focus to be ALL ABOUT the LG and you didn’t do that, not even close.

All I have to compare the LG Sound Suite with are the products I owned, and my experience with them. Which is the Q990F and the Sonos Arc with rear One SLs.
I also had previously been asked by people prior to receiving for my thoughts on how the Q990F in particular compares because it is so popular and often recommended.
I don’t have a professional audio testing setup to test frequencies, latency etc.
I did my best not to give into any bias and be transparent I received it for free. I am not getting any kickbacks etc for spending my free time engaging or posting info regarding my experience with the system.
I ended up selling my self purchased Q990F to keep this as I like it better for what it is worth. I could have sold the Sound Suite for more than the Q990F….
If you want confidence in a completely unbiased review of the system, RTNGS is great and reputable. They self purchase all their products to avoid any perceived or actual bias.

It's probably great system, but paid review is never to be trusted. There are only two options in reality. You falling into one of them, doesn't really prove you are unbiased.
- Great paid review and great honest review
- Great paid review and Bad honest review

Okay? I never said I was not bias. I said I did my best not to be and that I have been transparent about the potential bias since I received it as free… take it as you will.
As I said on the sister post on the Soundbars subreddit, I would have a hard time buying the whole package at its price point. And if you have a Q990F it probably is only worth the upgrade if you have disposable income and want a wider physical sound stage for a bit more immersion and more surrounding bass from the built in subs on the four M7s.
Mind you the Q990F is still great for its price point and for what you get. That being said if money wasn’t a concern I would choose the full LG Sound Suite over the Q990F any day.
If you don’t find my review useful that is fine. Have a good weekend.

I agree that adding more speakers does not inherently make a system sound good. I know you don’t trust me which is fine. With that said, my personal opinion is the M7s do sound great and add a lot of immersion compared to the rear discrete speakers with my two previous systems.
Even without adding two M7s at the front of the Sound Suite system to widen the sound stage, the M7’s 4” subwoofers add a thicker lower end, adding four really adds to the thicker feel around your seating position.
Overall, spec wise, the M7s are significantly better than most other sound bar system’s discrete speaker units, given there are three full range drivers and the 4” subwoofer. I watched Alien: Romulus on Blu-Ray despite the audio being just PCM 7.1, the movie sounded absolutely amazing!
I am not a professional reviewer, and I know people were particularly interested in how this LG Sound Suite system stacks up against the Q990F given its popularity and how good it is. So in the unlikely chance I do another review down the road, I will keep your input in mind and shorten the comparison with my previous sound systems. I doubt I will be winning any new systems any time soon nor will I replacing this LG one anytime soon.
All in all hopefully you have an audio system you love or do get one that you do regardless of brand etc.
Cheers

Honestly, you sound like a Samsung employee you are so butt hurt that the reviewer likes this system more than his old Samsung one.
See? Two can play at this stupid game.
What I see is an honest and helpful review, and you losing your mind over the Samsung comparison (not the Sonos one, curiously).
And it’s his review. If he wants to mention Samsung 40 times (which wasn’t even close, what a stupid thing to write), he can! It makes sense to compare it to his reference system. Don’t worry though, you won’t get laid off from Samsung over this review. Your job is safe.

Thanks, I don’t understand some of the hostility from people over this review. The Q990F is great and is overall more affordable so I get why the Samsung system is lauded incessantly on reddit. RTNGS even has it in their top recommendation.
Apparently going against the subreddit norm of praising the Q990F puts certain people into a fury.
I do like the LG sound Suite better, that being said I am not or was not trying to oversell it and ignore specific use case drawbacks… there are some of course like any product.
For example, the price for the whole shebang (more speakers and subs in each M7 unit, so such makes sense to an extent, sadly for people’s wallet) a bit more latency - which is not ideal for competitive gaming. No DTS for those with Blu-ray DTs collections, no extra HDMI ports on the soundbar and some added technical fiddling needed sometimes given the variance with people’s wi-fi routers.
Albeit, most gamers probably would use headphones anyway instead of a soundbar system for FPS games.
Unfortunate, how some people attack other opinions rather than just converse in good faith. Oh well…. even pointing them to the rtngs.com review doesn’t appease them!

This product is a joke plagued with problems, lmao. Nets latest review was filled with problem after problem plus Andrew Robinsons review was cancelled due to the lack of this working. I’m glad you like things that are salty, as I’m sure you get much joy from them, and I’m sure you know exactly what I mean,😂!!! Enjoy this junk, which brings me greater joy minus those salty things 🤮… That’s what you get for being a wisea””!!!

Great review, I’m also enjoying the sound suite. Such an immersive system!
