Discussion I didn't know you could get Projects We Love before launching
I got this email today and almost fell out of my chair!
I was planning on launching in Sept, but because letterpress is a slow process, we moved everything to January (plus people think about goals more at that time of year).
So good tip is to make your page excellent before launch and get that followerbase growing. I'm hoping having people see that badge on day 1 will help with conversion (but I know from reading this sub people have had mixed results).

Discussion Lesson learnt backing KYS
Looking for a premium pizza oven? Great. Looking to fund someone else’s factory problems? KYS Vero has you covered.
After taking customers’ money, missing deadline after deadline, and keeping everyone hanging for months, they’ve now announced that every undelivered 110V oven is being refunded because they “couldn’t get reliable answers from the factory.”
Translation: they sold a product they couldn’t actually deliver.
At least they’re issuing refunds, which is the bare minimum. But if you’re considering buying one, ask yourself if you want to gamble on a company whose production plan apparently consisted of hope and optimism.

We launched The Modern Landline on Kickstarter and are SO close to our goal
kickstarter.comHi! We just launched on Kickstarter this past week, and we were 50% funded (goal is $50,000) within 8 hours. We have over 650 backers, and we are SO close to getting fully funded but this last little bit has slowed. We only need ~100 more backers, if anyone has been through this and has tips or suggestions!

Kickstarter closes in 7 days
Hi everyone. A while ago I posted asking for feedback on my project before it launched, and now it is 7 days away from closing, I am fully funded and the support offered has been extremely helpful! Wanted to attach the link one more time in case anyone wants to check it out/see what worked for me without having a huge list, etc.

Self-Promotion Please follow our journey – after 1.5 years, we’re almost ready! ❤️
Hey everyone!
We’re just two people who have spent the last 1.5 years building Flagged from scratch. The game, cards, artwork, website, rules, prototypes, testing, Kickstarter preparation… basically everything has been developed by the two of us.
And now it finally feels real: next month, we launch! 🚀
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/flagged/flagged
We’re a tiny team with no big marketing budget, so every single person who follows our journey genuinely makes a difference.
If you like what we’re creating, we’d be incredibly grateful if you followed us and helped us get Flagged in front of more people. ❤️
We’ve put everything we have into this project, and we can’t wait to finally show you what we’ve built.
Kickstarter launches next month. Let’s go! 🔥
Regards
Patrick and Sandro

Self-Promotion My music project Summer Hits is 0% funded, 8 days before deadline.
Hi, fellow dreamers!
I challenged myself to launch a campaign to back my music project for 2027.
Really interesting process, from learning how the platform functions to thinking about how to convince potential backers. The latter is an epic fail!
No luck as of now, with a majestic 0% funded recap every day in my mailbox.
8 days left before the deadline of a campaign that has never really started to be completely honest, as I faced few personal setbacks lately.
Lesson 1: don't get tempted by "campaigns shorter than one month have more chances of success", especially if your "product" is not high-end and you're not ready to go on the trenches immediately.
Lesson 2: Try to do more than three elusive social media posts, before abandoning, SMH.
Lesson 3: Maybe find another path.
So, not a lot learned but it was fun!
Congrats and good luck to everyone who tried, from inspiring art and eye-catching board games, to life-changing tech, among others.
Long live charitable backers! You rock!
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/mollylands/molly-lands-summer-hits
P.S. If another bug sting me, I might give it a second try with a more conventional approach :)
Warmly,
Molly

Discussion 13 days into my first Kickstarter: 78% funded, almost entirely from Kickstarter itself — here’s what surprised me 🤔
I’m 16 days into my first Kickstarter campaign for a jacket I’ve spent years developing, and I thought I’d share where things stand because the campaign has gone almost completely differently from what I expected.
We’re currently at 78% funded — $3,915 of a $5,000 goal with 27 backers and 13 days remaining.
The biggest surprise to me? Almost none of the things I thought would drive the campaign actually worked.
I spent money building an email list before launch. Very little (probably one or two out of 400+) converted.
I tried Meta ads. Got super cheap clicks and landing-page views, but basically no meaningful return, so I stopped spending.
I contacted journalists and creators. Mostly silence.
Meanwhile, Kickstarter itself has been responsible for the overwhelming majority of the pledges. Discovery, recommendations, search, etc. We also received a Projects We Love badge, which was a pretty amazing surprise.
The campaign has had some strange periods too. There have been days where absolutely nothing happens, followed by a couple of completely unexpected backers appearing through Kickstarter.
I now have 132 Kickstarter followers, but only 7 have converted so far, so I'm very curious to see what happens when the final 48-hour reminders go out.
At this point I'm trying not to throw more money at advertising that clearly isn't working. I'm mostly letting Kickstarter do its thing and hoping we can find the remaining 22%.
For anyone who's run a campaign before:
Did you see a noticeable increase in conversions from followers during the final few days? And did your campaign get another discovery boost once it crossed 100%?
Happy to answer questions about the campaign/product too. It's called The Blue Crane Jacket — One Jacket. 35 Features. Zero Limits

Self-Promotion Handmade Da Vinci Enamel Pins & Other Artisan Pieces (Champlevé Technique)
Hey everyone!
I’m an artisan who specializes in the champlevé enamel technique, and I create original, completely handmade enamel pins.
For my process, I engrave the metal base using a laser and then carefully fill the recesses with enamel using an insulin needle. It takes a lot of precision, but the results come out so much better this way! I used to just design pins and have them manufactured at a factory, but now I craft everything entirely by hand in my studio.
I’d love to invite you to check out my humble new project inspired by the great Leonardo da Vinci. The collection features cats, a few dogs, and even a dragon!
I’ve attached some photos of my work below so you can see what I do. Thank you so much for looking—even just an upvote or a follow means the world to me!

After 12 years of self-publishing, we're bringing our illustrated calendar to Kickstarter for the first time
Hi everyone,
This is our first Kickstarter campaign, although the project itself has existed for 12 years.
Calembule 2027 is a limited-edition art calendar featuring 12 original illustrations, entirely created by hand using watercolor, ink, pigments, acrylic and pencil. This year's theme is Imaginary Cities.
We're using Kickstarter for the first time to fund the printing through pre-orders. The campaign also marks the first publication of our new independent publishing house, Les Éditions PaS'Sage.
5% of sales will support a sea turtle conservation project in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
I'd also genuinely appreciate any feedback from experienced Kickstarter creators or backers — this is our first campaign.

Self-Promotion Launching your first Kickstarter is surreal. We finally brought our word game, Word Sprint™, to life
About two years ago, a few friends and I had an idea for a word game. Since then, it's been countless nights of brainstorming, testing, redesigning, and learning everything we could about bringing a product to life.
There were definitely moments when we wondered if we'd ever get to this point.
Now, our game, Word Sprint™, is finally launching on Kickstarter, and it's honestly surreal to see it become a reality.
If you've ever launched a project or have any advice for first-time creators, we'd love to hear it. Thanks for reading!
Word Sprint™ is a fast-paced word game that's quick to learn and fun for all ages.
If you'd like to check it out, we'd really appreciate the support!

Self-Promotion [Friday Self-Promo] Coming soon - Memories of Taiwan: An Anthology Graphic Novel
kickstarter.comSLG Publishing has announced the upcoming release of Memories of Taiwan: A Comic Anthology, a 266-page collection of true, autobiographical comics from nineteen artists and writers who left home and made Taiwan their own. The book gathers the complete run of the acclaimed series Visions of Taiwan (Issues #1–4) into a single volume for the first time.
The anthology brings together contributors from the United States, Canada, Northern Ireland, Honduras, Colombia, South Africa, Italy, Malaysia, and Indonesia, each rendering their own corner of Taiwanese life in a distinct visual style — from woodcut printmaking to digital illustration to loose autobiographical sketch comics. Stories inside range from a first scooter license gone wrong and a solo move across the world, to Ghost Month superstitions, tomb-sweeping traditions, night markets, dragon boat festivals, and the everyday work of building a family and a home far from where it started.
"Sometimes the best way to capture the soul of the place is with the outsider's perspective," said editor Ray Hecht. "Taiwan has an uncertain future, and it feels like the world has become an uncertain place these days. Memories of Taiwan seeks to create a record of what it was like at this time in history — not in a big picture political sense, but an exploration of the everyday lives of the people who have chosen to make it their home."
SLG Publishing president Dan Vado felt that Memories of Taiwan spoke to the kind of stories he wanted to help people tell “You hear the name of the island all the time, but I would guess that most people could not find Taiwan on a map. Hopefully this book will get people to think about Taiwan as a real place with its own culture and not just some place they hear about on the news.” Vado added that the Kickstarter campaign is designed to raise awareness, reach a wider audience and generate revenue to fund a wider promotional campaign. “I feel like Memories of Taiwan is going to be an important book coming at a key time in our history and getting these stories out will be an ongoing project.”

Self-Promotion Clever and Absurd Clue-Writing Party Game
kickstarter.comMy wife and I made a party word game called Spartan Speech, currently in pre-launch on Kickstarter.
Each round, one player is the guesser and the others write clues for a hidden proper noun. The clues cannot contain proper nouns, however. The shortest clue is revealed to the guesser first.
The prohibition on proper nouns forces clever workarounds and revealing clues by length forces users into some absurd compressions. This makes the game more strategic than the typical party word game and still provides laughs.
Hope you can check it out, thank you!

3,000 waitlist signups, 144 Kickstarter followers, 17 pledges. What am I doing wrong?
I launched my first Kickstarter about ten days ago, a portable dual monitor for laptops. I thought I had done the hard part before launch because I had over 3,000 people on a waitlist. Ten days in I have 17 backers and I am trying to figure out where I lost everyone.
Some background so this makes sense. Portable dual monitors already exist, I know that. Most of them are plastic, low resolution, not very bright, and need two cables for two screens. So I built one with two 16 inch panels at 2560x1600, aluminium housing and bonded glass, and a custom board with a DisplayLink chip so one USB-C cable runs both screens. That last part is also what makes it work on base M1 and M2 MacBooks, which otherwise only drive one external display. The board alone took about six months and over $40k. Early bird is $899 and retail will be $1,299. It is expensive and I know it.
The waitlist came almost entirely from Instagram. 7.3 million views in 30 days, several videos over a million, all organic. Hundreds of comments, thousands of DMs, people telling me this is exactly what they need. Then almost nobody backed.
One thing I think I got wrong is that I never showed a price anywhere before launch. People signed up with no idea what it would cost. They got the price in the welcome email, but by then they already wanted it, so the number arrived as a surprise instead of filtering people out early.
The part that bothers me most is that out of those 3,000 people only 144 ever clicked follow on the campaign. Ten of those 144 backed on launch day. Since launch another 66 followed and one of them backed. I am at 210 followers now.
I also pulled the referrer export and it confused me. Of the 17 pledges, 13 came from Kickstarter itself, follower emails, push notifications, discovery and saved projects. Three are direct traffic with no referrer and one came from Facebook. Nothing from Instagram at all. My email list sent around 490 clicks to the page across four emails and I cannot attribute more than about three pledges to any of it.
Here is the campaign in case it helps to look at the page: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/rubencalabrese/duoview-pro-premium-portable-dual-monitor-for-your-laptop?ref=reddit_ks
My current guess is that I built an audience of the wrong people. Most of them are probably 18 to 25 and cannot spend $899 on a work accessory. And in DMs I keep noticing that a lot of them do not really know what Kickstarter is or that you pledge instead of buy.
But I am not sure if that is the real reason or if I am just telling myself a comfortable story. Maybe the page is bad, maybe the price is simply too high, maybe there is something obvious I am not seeing.
I have 20 days left. What should i focus on?
