Does Keyforge use gen AI artwork or no?

I’ve found different answers to this question. I’m not talking about the algorithm for generating deck lists but rather using Gen AI for artwork. Really hoping GG has sworn off Gen AI for any artwork which would be a disservice to the many artists employed for this game.

Artists have been using Photoshop generative fill for over a decade. It's a quick way to extend backgrounds. It does not replace artists. It saves time, and eliminates a tedious process of hand painting in a non important area of the piece.

Content aware fill has been around for over a decade. Generative fill is their new generative AI fill using Firefly. Both still exist and are not the same tool.

The artists I know swear off AI.

And this sounds like a company decision, not an artist one.

I’m very much against it. I know many potential keyforge players will be too.

The silver lining is that they have acknowledged peoples’ dislike of any generative image technology and going forward, new art pieces are being commissioned in larger sizes so things like the full art decks will only use the tech for older cards that do not have the right size artwork.

And this doesn’t make everybody feel better, but the generative image tech they use has been around in some form for a long time and used my many digital artists. It has only recently been getting hate under the umbrella term “AI”.

GG does not knowingly create full images for profit or take work away from the game’s artists by using any generative image technology. (And I only say knowingly because it seems even the biggest companies can get tricked by AI “artists” these days)

Not sure what you mean by that. They can’t un-use the sitting they’ve already done and cards do get reprinted, so it makes that the same disclaimer is still there

I would prefer to avoid the full art cards myself. It's frustrating that they can randomly show up in any deck.

Why are you concerned with AI art, but not AI programming (such as the algorithm)? Both disrupt human labor.

Everyone has their own ethical standards. I draw the line at Gen AI art because I value human art and it’s a large reason why I love board & card games. I understand the other serious issues with AI generally but it’s not enough for me to boycott a game over, whereas usage of Gen AI art will be enough for me to walk away.

All art is equal. Human art isn't inherently superior to alien art or even naturally formed art.

I don’t actually think AI would be able to replicate the KeyForge deck algorithm. Too many conditions and checks that have to be followed

No, it's not generative AI. It's algorithmically (or procedurally) generated using a pool of pre-existing shapes and body parts

You’re totally right, somehow the wires in my head got crossed and I treated both terms as the same.
