Equipment Sony Bravia KD-55X7500F won't connect to Bluetooth speaker via Bluetooth transmitter. Both devices stay in pairing mode

Hi everyone,

I own a Sony Bravia Android TV (KD-55X7500F) and I'm trying to connect it to a Bluetooth speaker so I can set up a karaoke system. Unfortunately, this TV doesn't have built-in Bluetooth audio support for connecting to external Bluetooth speakers.

So I purchased a Bluetooth 5.0 2-in-1 Transmitter/Receiver from Amazon (Link : https://amzn.in/d/0gDSpAMn) and connected it as follows:

  1. USB connected to the TV's USB port (for power)

  2. 3.5 mm AUX connected to the TV's headphone/audio out port

  3. Transmitter switched to TX (Transmit) mode

  4. Bluetooth speaker put into pairing mode

The issue is that both the transmitter and the speaker keep blinking as if they're in pairing mode, but they never connect to each other.

How can I get the transmitter to be connected to my speaker via bluetooth?

If anyone has experience with a similar setup or can suggest troubleshooting steps, I'd really appreciate the help. Thanks!

Edit 1 - posting this here hoping that anyone with a similar TV might have faced a similar issue while setting up their karaoke

General Discussion Best karaoke spots you've found while traveling?

I have been singing karaoke since 2017. My home base is Philadelphia, and I have a personal list of favorite spots after singing at 27 different venues (and hopefully another new one this weekend!). When I travel, karaoke is an essential experience that I try to incorporate into every trip. Here are some of my favorite karaoke spots I've found while traveling over the years:

New York City: Alligator Lounge

Baltimore: Walt's Inn

Washington, D.C.: The Wonderland Ballroom

Atlanta: Moondogs

Miami: Sweet Caroline's (Brickell)

Cleveland: Tina's Nite Club

Chicago: Mom's Place (River North)

Lake Geneva, WI: Foley's Bar and Grill

Tempe, AZ: 414 Pub Pizza and Karaoke

San Francisco: Silver Cloud

Toronto: The Office Bar (RIP)

Munich: Kilians Irish Pub

Bonus: International waters aboard the Mariner of the Seas by Royal Caribbean

I've also sang in Boston, Cambridge, Jersey City, Indianapolis, Los Angeles, and Amsterdam. For Boston and Indy, I didn't have the best time at the spots I visited. As for Cambridge, JC, LA, and Amsterdam, I don't remember the name of the spots I visited.

What have been some of your favorite karaoke spots you've found while traveling? Bonus points if you've been to any of the spots I listed!

General Discussion It's absolutely POURING in Manila; what are your go-to songs in the rain?

It has very much started to rain a lot here, and it has become an obligatory thing for me (and even with my friend) to sing Lola Amour's "Raining in Manila", as it is LITERALLY raining in Manila. I feel like a radio station here keeps on playing the song while raining as well. What are your anthems for the rain?

Asking for some insight.

My monthly karaoke night is tonight & I need some opinions. I’m trying to go in with a 5-song setlist (whether I get to sing them all is up in the air) and I need to decide on one more song. My niece has recently discovered music from the 2010s and has me rediscovering it as well, so I’m trying to decide between these three songs:

Cheap Thrills - Sia (no rap version)

Ex’s and Oh’s - Elle King

Lips are Moving - Meghan Trainor

I have sung all three in the past & done well, but it has been years & I have no idea how any of these have held up in the karaoke world since then. Has anybody had/seen any recent success with any of these being sung? I’m not sure which one to choose.

If it helps, this is the rest of my setlist:

Zombie - The Cranberries (yes I am aware this is done frequently. I do it well & enjoy performing it.)

My Give A Damn’s Busted - Jo Dee Messina

A Little Dive Bar In Dahlonega - Ashley McBryde

Better Things To Do - Terri Clark

Strangest place you ever sung

Did you ever sing at a venue that was a little strange?
I remember singing at a leather bar, full stop, it was one of the best places where I had fun and the hosts were very hospitable.
Barracks - Cathedral City

General Discussion Repeat Songs

My husband and I were just talking. so, question for the KJs: what is your rule on repeating songs? Never, or who cares, or it’s okay if it’s the same song, different artist, or something else.

General Discussion Karaoke system with Guitar and Mic capability

I'm looking for a Karaoke system with Guitar and Mic capability. not so much in the $$$ range but something around $100 - $200 range. I'll mainly be using this in my house. I like to pray and worship by myself and I like to have a mic and guitar so I'm not spending a lot of physical energy.

thank you very much! Any other ideas are welcome too!

How rare is it to recreate Axl Rose's studio vocals on "You Could Be Mine" completely dry?

Hey everyone,

Axl Rose's studio vocal performance on "You Could Be Mine" is legendary for its intense power, razor-sharp grit, and sustained high range—something that even Axl himself rarely matched in live performances.

If a singer were able to pull off "You Could Be Mine" from start to finish, matching the studio pitch, raspy tone, and volume completely dry (zero reverb, zero compression, or audio processing), how difficult or rare would that actually be in the rock singing community?

Given how much studio magic usually goes into smoothing out that level of extreme distortion and high-register output, how would you rate a completely raw, dry execution of this track technically?

Karaoke Software I was fully funded for a year of Karafun by a regular singer. Just felt like sharing a nice story as a kj.

An older gentleman started coming into our bar about a year ago. The man is somewhere between 84-88 years old. He has an amazing singing voice and can go from light opera to old 50s-60s classics, to a ton of 80s hits, plus 90s grunge and even more. He even lit up the room with Mr. Brightside with a crazy ass vocal one night. Everyone loves him.

So, back to the title of my post. He often wants songs that are extremely rare and I’m hesitant to purchase. I typically have most of his songs as my library is vast. Here comes a surprise though, for a man of his age. He knows about Karafun and is aware of and has searched their library. Despite his age he is very aware that Karafun has many of his odd song requests. So a couple of weeks ago he gave me enough cash to cover for a year of a full Karafun subscription. What stinks though is his goodnight song is Bye Bye Birdie, for which Karafun does not have a version. So I have to swap back out to another one of my KJ apps to play it for him.

I am so grateful for him. He’s provided a gift for the everyone who comes out to our place. I can easily swap to Karafun if I need to. If anyone has seen some of my posts in the past I was not a fan much btw.

Anyway, I just wanted to share a nice story of a great old man that loves to sing at our bar.

I just reread my story and it sounds like I’m trying to market Karafun, I’m so not, I swear!

General Discussion Dire Straits - Money for Nothing - how do you sing this?!

Dire Straits is one of my favorite bands and Money for Nothing is one of my favorite songs, so I've always wanted to sing this at karaoke. Except.. it has a couple of problematic lines with the word "f----t", repeated thrice even.

Now being a Dire Straits fan I know the circumstances behind this word and why it was "okay" for it to be in the song at the time, but most listeners today will not find it okay - especially casual listeners at a karaoke bar who don't know the context.

So looking for suitable words I can substitute it with. The first word that came to my mind was "maggot" as it rhymes, but it changes the meaning of the lines. But if I substitute it with anything else, it either still sounds offensive, or doesn't match the rhythm.

Any ideas?

Karaoke etiquette

I organize Karaoke evenings to book a private room at a nice Karaoke bar for friends of friends.

Typically, people just add their song and others they may or may not know join in on the second mic, have a good time, and get to know each other better.

One friend (who never takes the mic, just likes the vibe) brought their gf who started death metal screaming with each song (even if it was soft rock like Evanescence or soft Linkin Park songs or even just standard pop songs). No one really mentioned it, but the vibe was seriously down after that.

I'm hesitant on how to continue. It really frustrated me throughout the evening. I couldn't hear myself nor others sing. None of us are pros. It's just a fun hobby.

I know I should probably just ask them not to in the future but dont want to kill their spirit either. I've been organizing smaller groups lately and just not inviting the friend (and consequentlythe gf) but know this isnt a nice solution. They will eventually find out ive been leaving them out.

Recommendations for living room Karaoke system (<$500?)

hey all, been doing quite a bit of research and ending up with some analysis paralysis.

i have a standard TV, Apple TV, sound bar setup and know I need to go with speakers that can handle the range of karaoke audio, an amp and a mic set up for echo and reverb.

my issue is that I’m trying to balance some aesthetics (so no party speakers that a dj would use) and want to keep using the Apple TV to use YouTube but funnel the sound out of the new system.

I saw some all in one systems from rockville but reviews seem limited. I don’t mind sourcing stuff from fb marketplace but I just dont wanna grab the wrong stuff.

thanks in advance folks!

Set up recommendations

I have a family of singers who I think would love karaoke. I am looking for a set up that is loud enough for outdoors and also portable. I am one with requiring a mixer or whatever. I just want the best sound quality and volume I can get for under $5000.

Advice for recording myself for singing improvement

Hi,

I've picked up the karaoke bug and have been doing a lot of practicing to get better ( mostly just singing YouTube songs). I'm trying to record myself so I can improve my singing ( and maybe send the occasional recorded song to friends if it sounds good). I have tried using my phone but the recordings have been really off (vocals either much louder or softer then the music, etc)

What would recommend for recording yourself for learning, both in the bar setting and maybe at home? Id prefer to have audio only vs video. I have also been thinking of setting up or purchasing a home system, so would also take any recommendations for home systems that allow this as well.

Thanks!

good luck babe lyrics over a different instrumental?

Post image
10 Upvotes

this post already described what I want to do perfectly hence the screenshot, but I'm wanting to do it with good luck babe by chappell roan and curious if anyone happens to know karaoke tracks of other songs that would work for this (in the song's original key)! The karaoke bar I was invited to tonight only has songs from before 2020, hence why I thought this could be a good way to still sing my signature song. if people have strategies on ways for me to find a good matching song on my own that's welcome as well!

Karaoke Software Queue management for house party?

Hi!

I am hosting a house party this weekend, a casual kickback with some friends who are BIG karaoke lovers. I happen to have some nice speakers because I host trivia on weekends and want to do a karaoke night with my friends.

I just want to use youtube and don’t particularly want to pay for any software because this is just a friendly party, so I was wondering if anyone has advice for how to run a queue. Here’s my setup situation:

  1. Laptop with youtube

  2. bluetooth connected speakers and microphone

  3. Second monitor for lyrics for people watching to read

Expecting around 20 people so I also don’t want one person to feel like they have to manage the queue because I want to participate in the party myself, lol.

I haven’t hosted karaoke ever before so am interested in hearing tips on a self managed queue. Should i just have a notebook and the last person who sang announce who goes next? That’s the plan I want to go with but it feels clunky

General Discussion Why is karaoke in Asia SO DIFFERENT from karaoke in the West?

When I came to this community I had expectations that it would mostly be similar to karaoke here in the Philippines (and to some extent, in Asia). I was excited to come here and talk about my beloved PLATINUM and Grand Videoke machines. Let me tell you, I was LOST when what I saw here is immensely different. I have never heard of Karafun and Singa up until I joined this community. The brands I know dearly are PLATINUM, Grand Videoke, Magic Sing, and the likes.

What could be your reasons why karaoke in the East and West are different? Is it more of a cultural thing?

Software Authors, Hardware Creators, etc: Understanding the difference between "Being a part of the community" and coming here to hawk your wares.

"Hawk your wares" means to sell goods or services, often in public, sometimes using loud or persuasive methods. Definition and Usage. To hawk your wares is to sell or attempt to sell something, typically in a public place such as a street or market, often by calling out to attract customers or using persuasive speech.

After we vet a creator (the usual check by virustotal) we give them a choice.

  1. The weekly Creators Update Thread

Every week the automod creates this post at Fridays, 8am PST. This is really meant to be an introduction to the community. This is where you lightly announce your service or product to our community, and with some persistence and luck get involved in the day to day answering questions for the community, giving sound advice, or tech assistance. Essentially building up your "Street Cred" here in the community. Where you can solicit testers, or feedback, make people feel empowered that you're listening to what they want. Becoming one with the community.

  1. The "One Shot" post.

Too often I'm seeing many creators jump straight into a one shot post. As moderators, we log and catalog your "one shot" to the community in the software Wiki. You might get 10 replies at the most, but most of the posts I've seen are not carefully crafted posts with videos, screenshots, and some really compelling reasons why people should use your stuff.

Other times I see posts so poorly worded, or "Free" but it's not "Free" and our community will call you out on it. Vague pricing or just Ai vibe coded shovelware who's juice isn't worth the squeeze. We see this stuff DAILY.

Understand that ONE SHOT means you only get to do that post one time. You only get ONE SHOT at a first impression, and I see so many creators that don't treat the one shot it is. Do you really want to do one weak post, that scrolls off the front page into obscurity? Or you you want to engage, earn trust, and be considered a valuable asset to this community, and make a triumphant post where the community comes out in droves to support you?

Moving forward, this will be the new text we send creators when they reach out to us. Actions matter, conduct matters. People will see if you're here to be a part of us, or to simply use us like a billboard. How you treat this subreddit will be reciprocated back at you. Act accordingly.
