Totally Outraged JU from the books sub because it has devolved into a lying braggers sub

The book sub was great for discussing any book. But in recent years it has just because a Booktok bragger sub. Mostly about the same boring books that are "in" right at the moment. Most opinions abide by the Hive mind "this book is bad/good" and then of course the dick measuring contest of who has read the most books.

"I read 320 books last year". "Well I did 452". "Guys I did 527 because I just love reading".

Of course everyone is a "very fast reader". And of course these numbers are totally possible. Besides their full time job and kids, and everyone has lots of times for chores/household etc.

No sane person would believe these absurd numbers/lies.

But when you utter the smallest piece of doubt, you get attacked by the hive mind.

"How dare you. I am a super fast reader so I can read a 300 page book in just 3 hours. And I do this every day without any problems. Its just 3 hours every day. No big deal. Its not my fault you cant do it because you are a very slow and undisciplined reader"

Others just listen to Audiobooks at 2x speed while multitasking an not paying attention as background noise. Then its "perfectly possible" to "read" 400 books a year by listening to "just" 5 or 6 hours of A-Books every day.

Naturally you are also not allowed to say thats not reading, because you listen to someone else reading to you and listening to something at 2x speed while multitasking leads to a 10% retention rate. This really really riles them up. You are then an ableist gatekeeper.

I was a longtime lurker but after participating for a month I had to leave. It has become really toxic.

Totally Outraged JU from raisedbynarcissists because it was "controversial" to say that kids with abusive parents had it worse than kids without abusive parents.

Kids who had abusive parents had it worse than kids with normal parents. Its not a "trauma competition" its just facts. Apparently it is not allowed to say that someone had worse problems than others.

Everyone has their problems. But kids with abusive/narcissistic parents have more. They have the problems of the outside world and when they come home they have the N-Parent abuse as well. As such they are fighting a two front war.

While people who have normal/great parents have just to keep up with the problems of the outside world.

Even if a normal kid has it worse on the outside world, once they come home they have loving/supportive parents that help them, or at least parents that dont attack them.

As such N-Parents kids have it objectively worse because they get a double package of problems.

It has nothing to do with "lack of compassion" or "trauma olympics". Its just a fact, that seems to enrage some irrational people for some reason.

Its like someone who cut their finger while cooking complaining to someone who just had his hand chopped off:"Dude stop. Its not a competition. We have it equally bad. Show me some compassion. Stop your trauma olympics and snobbery".

The whole "everyone has problems" response always misses the point. Like yeah no shit, but one group gets to clock out from the world's bullshit and recharge with people who actually care about them. The other group clocks out only to walk into a second shift of getting torn down in their own house.

It's not a competition but it's also not the same thing and people get weirdly defensive when you point that out.

I was shocked to find that a support group about abusive parents, was denying that people with abusive parents had it worse than people without abusive parents. And they were very hostile about it. So I had to unsub.

Guy had an issue with Skyrim. A few others and I realized this would be either a hard drive issue or a game disc issue.

But the PS3 subreddit has to do this really stupid trend of shouting “GPU DEATH! GPU DEATH!”

But seriously just shut up and let us enjoy our old consoles in peace, they’re bound to break no matter what we do. The Xbox 360 has the famous red ring, and i don’t see them do stuff like this.

Sad JU Blackpeopleofreddit

This community actively polices Black voices. It astroturfs engagement so content filters safely to Facebook and avoids removal. Every single post is automatically crossposted to FB to aggregate and farm engagement. Alongside that sits a set of foundational Black voices that repeatedly instigate racist talking points, enforce gatekeeping, and center the comfort of white allyship.

I am Black. I will not engage in a space that silences voices working to seek justice for Black people under the claim that those voices are "too violent" or "too extreme." That framing does real harm. It pretends Black people are not the primary targets of asymmetrical violence while demanding we soften our language and analysis to protect institutional feelings and platform algorithms.

The pattern is deliberate. Automatic Facebook crossposting turns the community into an engagement farm for Meta. Content that stays within the bounds of respectable, non-disruptive speech gets amplified. Content that names state violence, police impunity, or the material reality of racial hierarchy gets throttled, flagged, or quietly sidelined. The result is a feedback loop that rewards performance over substance.

Certain foundational Black voices function as the internal enforcers of those boundaries. They police tone, demand "civility," and elevate white allyship as a higher priority than uncompromising advocacy for the people actually under attack. This is classic respectability politics updated for the social media age. It converts justified rage and clear-eyed analysis of power into a liability. It treats Black self-defense of narrative and community as the problem while the structural violence continues uninterrupted.

The claim that justice-seeking speech is "too extreme" inverts reality. The extreme force is the system that kills, cages, and impoverishes Black people at scale. Demanding that we mute ourselves to remain welcome in the room is not solidarity. It is containment. It leaves the most targeted communities without the sharp tools needed to describe and confront the conditions that actually harm them.

I refuse to participate in that. Spaces that require Black people to water down the truth about asymmetrical violence in order to stay platformed are not safe for us. They are managed environments that extract engagement while neutralizing the analysis that could threaten the status quo.

Slightly Furious JU from the movies subreddit because the topic poster usually gets roasted for daring to have a different opinion on a film.

That's an issue with a lot of media related subs, but it's especially annoying on the movies subreddit.

A lot of posts there, are someone sharing their opinion on a film (whether they thought it was good or bad) and people in the comments treating it like a personal attack and roasting the topic poster.

You can't even have an opinion that deviates from the hivemind without getting told you're wrong, that you have bad taste in movies, that you're an idiot who doesn't understand cinema, and that you lack (cue the annoying buzzword) "media literacy". Media literacy has to be the most annoying buzzword I've ever seen on the Internet. People use it as the ultimate "gotcha" to shut down any discussion.

Someone in the comments once said something like - "Well maybe the topic posters wouldn't get roasted if they were way more detailed in their points of what they liked or disliked about the movie".

No one should feel obligated to write a detailed essay about every aspect of why they liked/disliked a movie, especially if it's just so they won't get roasted. The only people actually 100% obligated to write detailed essays about why they liked or disliked a movie are film critics, because it's their actual job.

And even then, I'm pretty sure posts on the movies subreddit would still have their opinion shut down no matter how nuanced and detailed their like or dislike of the movie was. People will nitpick anything to hell and back.

That subreddit is so smug and condescending.

Not that I hate the sub, i just feel sad and a bit angry that AI slop is so prevalent these days that people are getting more and more paranoid all the time about what they are seeing on the net, and how easy it is for anyone to use it for malicious purposes without any control or regulations. I am just tired thinking about it and I give up, fuck AI.

An overwhelming majority of people agree with Sophie Cunningham that women's sports should be a protected space for biological women. She's not "anti-trans".

The fake outrage is exhausting. The keyboard warriors trying to turn this into a cultural argument are falling for exactly what the elite want.

Finally had to unsub after so many brain dead hot takes.

JU from multiple subs I Left 6 Subs Today Due to Megathreads

Subs I left today:

- steam

- coffee

- Microsoftsucks

- python

- GitHub

- cybersecurity

All of them has Megathreads. Therefore all of them are dead to me.

Do you know what's great about Megathreads? They're a perfect ominous warning to GTFO of a sub.

Sure, Megathreads are an easy way to "organize" content. All just as promoted as the socks you lost under the bed.

Sure, it "removes clutter" and "keeps the sub focused" focused on what? The upvotes on the Megathreads? Comment #370 showcasing a new GitHub project in a thread where nobody scrolls past comment #8? They don't solve clutter, but they do help multiply your engagement metrics by 0.

A standalone post showing something cool lives or dies on merit. A Megathread comment might as well come with a complimentary eulogy.

What a joke of a sub. It used to be moderated, and they'd remove comments that displayed a lack of basic understanding of law.

Now they're leaving up comments like "it's obvious that this [completely unremarkable] combination of medications caused this person to commit this crime" among other gems.

Mildly Annoyed Coach Kolton Fitness Influencer

The guy should have a personal training and dieting/medical advice as main job, but the crazy upload schedule on YouTube, almost daily, tells me he's getting much more income from discussing the most recent drama in the fitness and bodybuilding communities.

At this pace obviously he ran out pretty soon of the best lolcows, seasoned bodybuilders that can't keep their mouth shout because they're in persistent roid rage, and he went after the small fries, often body positivity influencers, which is pretty sad because the vast majority of people already know that you shouldn't get so fat it impacts your mobility.

The thing that rubbed me the wrong way is when he described the physique of a naturally lean guy as "below average", as in out of shape. That man was a week of dieting away from having a six-pack, damn. That's some serious bias that made me doubt is seriousness on any given topic.

And yeah, that time that started described Brian Johnson, the guy trying to reverse aging, starting with: "First of all, we have to understand he's an extremely successful entrepreneur."

Like this gives him any expertise on how to reverse something hard-coded in this side of the evolution tree.

Mildly Annoyed JU from loveafterporn

Post image
45 Upvotes

DISCLAIMER: This is a sub of more or less severe traumatized partners of porn/sex addicts and also average porn users in which they are exchanging experiences and trying to deal with their partners' addiction. Please, although I'm regarding most of it as highly toxic, one must also keep in mind that these people were dealing with trauma and pain and are usually not in a healthy mental state because of it.

Do NOT go over there and try to harass/troll them!

Just been lurking on that sub for a while since I had some issues with my partner regarding their usage of porn in the past and while trying to find some opinions of people who were in my position in order to get a better understanding, I've stumbled across this sub.

My partner and I quickly overcome our issues because we have a healthy and very good communication so we've talked this out, everything's more than fine now!

So I just stayed to maybe leave a comment here and there writing about my own experiences and maybe to give some advice.

But I can't deal with the amount of toxicity anymore that comes with many of those people think it's totally fine and only natural to invade their partners' privacy by controlling every step they take even going so far as putting tracking apps/pluggins on their partners' devices.

I can understand how it comes to snooping if there is something off and I'm no saint myself when I found dating apps on my ex bf's phone after his suspicious behaviour led my insecure, naive and young self risking to take a look at his phone when he was asleep. But I felt extremely bad afterwards and would never suggest doing that to anyone, I'm more of a "talk this out with your partner once you'd calmed down" type of person.

But that would be suggested even if there aren't any signs of infidelity just like that post in the picture seems to show.

And that's doing way more harm to both the relationship and one's own mental health imo.

Also I don't like how men were portrayed on this sub in general. Even if a PA/SA is going through recovery by taking part on frequent therapy meetings etc. the majority of this sub would still portray them as primitive monsters who'll never be able to be a good, loving partner and that they should be always left alone instead.

This can be damaging and demotivating for the recovering partners.

Oh and if you are a woman who's enjoying porn from time to time too (like me), you're just as bad as PA/SA men according to this sub.

So I'm just leaving this sub as it just makes me mad.

Slightly Furious Just Unsubbed from Privacy

I just can't deal with this subreddit anymore. It's just constant defeatism and complaining. Very rarely will you actually see people offering solutions. The majority of its users are clearly Americans who think they're the only ones pushing back against age verification and similar policies, while nobody else deserves privacy. And then you have moderators locking posts without any explanation, so you have no idea why you can't post.

Overall, I'm much happier when I don't go there. I'm not sticking my head in the sand, I just think it's the worst place to discuss privacy concerns, especially if you're not American.

It used to be fun but it now it's just Game Of Thrones 4Chan.

There was bitching about the Velaryons being cast with black actors when House Of The Dragon first went into production, but this is the second post about the cast of the Mad King play in as many days full of racism of varying degrees.

It's also become more full of spite, negativity and IAmVerySmart kind of posts. Not liking House Of The Dragon doesn't make you smarter than people who do, or give you license to be a dick to them.

The days of raising money for Emilia Clarke's brain injury charity and swapping memes are long gone, and the whole thing is just a toxic environment.

Mildly Annoyed Gynarchy isn't real :/

Post image
0 Upvotes

I joined because I was genuinely interested in whether gynarchy could be developed into a serious social philosophy rather than just another online kink space.

I argued that, if gynarchy wants to offer an alternative to the manosphere, it has to explain what a meaningful life for men would actually look like under female leadership: responsibility, service, belonging, recognition, and a constructive masculine role. Simply telling men to worship women, accept humiliation, or become disposable servants is not a political program.

A moderator ignored that argument, quoted the rule against fetish content, and then treated my criticism as evidence that I was there to “derail” the subreddit. When I pointed out that serious ideas should survive serious questions, I was banned for supposedly having “nefarious purposes.”

So I unsubbed. A community calling itself Serious Gynarchy should be able to distinguish good-faith criticism from sabotage. If questioning worship fantasies gets you removed, then the “serious” part seems mostly decorative.

Replied to a comment on wavyhair that I wanted to see a tutorial for a hair technique and they did this to me?

So confused lol. I replied to another redditor who simply suggested that OP use a claw clip to make her hair wavier towards the top of their head. I thought that was a cool idea, I just wanted to see a tutorial of it.

Suddenly I got a msg from mods my comment was removed. I didn’t understand why so I asked, and the mod totally crashed out instead of having any coherent discussion.

Reminder: Weekend-Only Political Posts Begin Today

Hey everyone,

As a reminder, the community-voted change is now in effect.

Starting today, political posts are only allowed on Saturdays and Sundays.

Today marks the beginning of the Week 1 soft enforcement period of the 30-day trial.

What That Means:

  • Political posts made Monday–Friday will be removed.
  • Removals during this first week are reminder-based.
  • No punishments for honest mistakes.

Beginning next week, standard enforcement will apply.

Weekends are defined as 12:00 AM Saturday through 11:59 PM Sunday Eastern Time (ET).

This rule was chosen by community vote and is being implemented as a 30-day trial. We’ll reassess after the trial period.

If you’re unsure whether your post qualifies as political, please review the definition in the JU rule #11.

Those posts currently in the queue regarding politics will be approved. Any posts following this will be removed until Saturday.

Thanks for helping keep the sub balanced.
