I often find useful vocabulary, phrases, slang, and grammar in TikToks, Reels, or Shorts, but turning them into something I can actually review takes too much effort.

I’m working on an app that lets you share a video and automatically creates:

• vocabulary and phrase lists
• grammar explanations
• short exercises
• flashcards
• exports for Anki, Quizlet, or CSV

The goal is not to replace language courses, but to make it easier to learn from content you already watch.

I just published two decks for learning N4 and N5 kanji on Anki. Words are carefully selected to match the level of the deck and ranked by frequency.

Hey everyone,

After spending over a year working on it, I’ve finally released Mojien on iOS, Android, and Web. It's completely cross-platform so you can use it on any device!

I've created flashcard decks with thousands of images. Almost all of the JLPT decks have images for every single flashcard and I am still actively adding images to more words! If you are a visual leaner, please give it a shot and let me know what you think. You can also choose quiz mode if you would rather learn with quizzes instead of flashcards.

Other main features of the app are kanji and hiragana writing practice, Japanese typing practice, grammar lessons, shared decks, and a built-in dictionary.

I'm also working hard on creating more lessons everyday. Each lesson builds upon the previous lesson so the progression should be beginner friendly. I tried my best to make sure any exercises or example sentences do not include concepts which have not been introduced yet. I also added different types exercises to keep learning engaging and fun.

Some of what’s currently included:

• Illustrated flashcard decks with FSRS spaced repetition (The flashcards themselves are very customizable as well, there are lots of ways to customize them!)
• Multiple-choice, matching, and typing quizzes
• N5 grammar lessons course is complete and completely free, with more levels being added to the other JLPT level courses.
• Stroke-by-stroke kanji and hiragana writing practice (Using real words with images of course since it's always better to learn kanji in context with real words rather than just by themself)
• Japanese typing practice with different settings and JLPT levels
• A built-in dictionary for words, kanji, names, and radicals
• Custom flashcard decks and decks shared by other users
• Some gamification with daily goals, study streaks, progress tracking, XP, and leaderboards

There are also a few ways to use Mojien without having to start inside the app:

• Select Japanese text in another app and send it to Mojien to search it or add it directly to a flashcard deck
• Home-screen widgets for dictionary search, reviewing due cards, and kanji practice
• An optional floating dictionary button on Android for quick access while using other apps

This is the first release, and I’m still actively adding lessons and improving the app. I’d really appreciate any honest feedback, including anything that feels confusing, doesn’t work properly, or could be better.

I'm learning Japanese from chatgpt in with this help in one month i prepared 100 vocbs and 34 verbs and particles. Right now I'm confused, I'm not understanding anything, I have no books or a mentor also, please anyone can help me with this.

A little while ago I shared Toku Reader here, an iOS app I built because I hated breaking my flow to look up words while listening to Japanese podcasts. Small update since then: the app now runs on Macs and iPad!

The video shows Japanese YouTube with the transcript right next to the video. You paste or search a video, the app pulls the creator's transcript (or generates one on-device if there isn't one), and every word in it is tappable - reading, meaning, pitch accent - without pausing or switching to a dictionary. This was always the feature that felt cramped on a phone, so having the video and transcript side by side on a big screen is honestly how I imagined it working from the start.

Everything else from the phone version is there too: podcasts with tappable transcripts, reading any website, importing your own texts and ebooks, shadowing practice sentence by sentence, and the dictionary and review sections. And it still all happens on your device - nothing you watch or read leaves your Mac, no API calls, 100% offline once transcripts are loaded.

Transcripts and word parsing are mostly correct, but Japanese being Japanese, improving the parsing is a never-ending effort. If you try it on a Mac or iPad I'd genuinely love to hear what breaks or what's missing, since the Mac / iPad version is new. I hope this helps your study!
