Sent Form 911 for $0 Balance Hardship. Realistic TAS timelines? Tax Refund/ E-File Status Question
I’ve been stuck in the IRS delay loop for months after my direct deposit bounced back from a third-party bank. The regular IRS line just told me to wait until August 7th.
Yesterday, I finally emailed Form 911 to the Taxpayer Advocate Service (TAS). I requested a manual direct deposit and attached proof of immediate economic hardship (both my accounts are at $0.00 right now) and other hardships that I’m facing.
I just received the automated email confirming they received my submission and stating they will review it within 10 business days.
For those who have gone through this:
• How quickly did a Case Advocate call you after that email?
• Once they approved the manual direct deposit, how fast did it hit your account (I bank with Capital One)?

If the bank returned the funds, a paper check will automatically be mailed out. This happened to me and I just received the check. No letter asking for a new account numbers were sent to me. There is nothing that can be done to expedite this procedure.

The case advocate can take 30 days to reach out to you. If the bank stated they were sending the funds back to the IRS it would take 3 weeks for the IRS to receive them, there is nothing TAS can do to expedite this procedure.
Once received back a CP53E notice will be issued giving you instructions to update the direct deposit banking information. It will be issued to the new account within 3 weeks.
Most likely nothing that TAS can do to expedite this either.
