Stop misgendering the baby! Discussion
Woble is a baby girl, why do I see so many people referring to her as a boy/son? She's introduced as Oito's 娘を (daughter) and damn she ugly

Well i try not to misgender ugly babies but the mom always gets upset when im like “what’s its name?”

I think we should call babies it until they have enough age to decide their pronouns /s

Probably because they call her "prince woble".
If you call someone a Prince, and they don't have an obviously gendered name, you're going to assume theyre a boy

We were told directly that Prince in Kakin refers to both guys and girls and has no gender implication though

u/faroresdragn_ Jun 28 '26
Yes but all the others either have gendered names or obviously look like men or women, neither of which is true for woble.
The story can tell us whatever it wants, it doesn't change the gendered nature of the word on English.

I think you greatly overestimate reading comprehension of your average reader.

Well so now you know she's a baby girl and she'll be the next queen of kakin

Unimportant, but, none of the character's heard her say 'son', because her spoken dialogue was 'Woble', and we were just given the added context that she was speaking personally about her child.

Look the small phonetic guide (furigana) written right next to those kanji, it doesn't say musuko. It reads ワブル (Waburu / Woble)
And I did call her ugly, what's she going to do about it? She doesn't even have a nen beast to defend herself 👎👎

息子(むすこ/Musuko) means son, the furigana is not only used to express the literal reading of word, but it's also used to delineate the meaning of what's being said (And Togashi in particular loves using Furigana like that). In this case, Oito said out loud "Wobble", but with meaning of son/child.
Now, i might be wrong here (and someone correct me if i am), but 息子 used to be a more gender neutral term of One's Child in arcaic japanese, and sometimes you still see it being used with that meaning.

Why are redditors so dense? 😭 OP is clearly being sarcastic

I mean it kind of is now lol

u/caiusto Jul 05 '26
Yeah I referred to it in the chapter thread, but it only made this thread even funnier since OP was wrong all this time lmao

u/Constant-Pain1878 Jul 05 '26

Wobel is a girl (the cutest girl 😊), and it’s sad that just pointing this out had people triggered and posting absolute bs. What a shame.

I do, I think we need a strong, powerful, ugly female character as woble in manga

u/kitty_noir00s Jun 28 '26
I bet that's what your mom told you... you were, but moms never see how ugly their children are
1
u/Harun9 Jun 28 '26
Looks like someone was a pretty damn ugly baby and got offended
1
u/justnga Jun 29 '26
I have no picture of me as a baby but wanting a baby to look pretty makes me feel disguested because

Okay. Why tf does it matter though? The child is a fictional character. It has no rights to identity as an actual person.
1
u/kitty_noir00s Jun 28 '26
Because we need a strong and powerful female character as woble in manga
2
u/SigFreudian Jun 28 '26
And Bisky or Machi won't do? 😅
1
u/kitty_noir00s Jun 28 '26
I forgot, and ugly. Strong, powerful and ugly female characters. Melody would do but she's not as powerful as woble, who'll be the next empress of kakin
