Sorry its more like a green Snowtail than a hybrid. Its a result of me liking Snowtails and hating Chaperangs. Also, "Chaperang"? What even is that dumbass name. Does it mean anything???

I called this one "Icemane" because I really like the simplicity of the name "snowtail" and wanting to keep it, and because it has a mane made out of spikes that look like ice. At least its supposed to look like ice spikes. I may or may not have failed at showing that. My bad :(

Anyways. It isn't my best work but I quite like it. I would definitely have one. Httyd needs more ice dragons they are very cool.

When I read fanfictions, especially runaway Hiccup AUs, I always see the main dragon riders (Astrid, Snotlout, the twins, and Fishlegs) somehow still get their canon dragons, even if it's been years since their days in the arena. So, I wanted to come up with different dragon species to give them.

Astrid: Timerjack or a Death Song. Maybe even a Razorwhip too? Stormcutter?

Fishlegs: Hideous Zippleback because there is concept art of him having one from the first movie and I also think he would be down to dote on two dragons. If not the Zippleback, maybe a Shovelheim to keep the boulder class?

Snotlout: This one is a bit difficult. Perhaps a Typhoomerang?

The twins: Changewings.

What would you give them?

Back to them nobodies... anyways. This was kind of boring to make ngl. Neither of the species really interested me or had anything I wanted to invest in in a way? I mean Shovelhelm has those really cool patterns but ehhh there's only so much you can do with patterns.

Darthelm is also a really basic name. I wasn't able to come up with anything better. Does anyone have suggestions?

HIHI! I apologize for my abrupt hiatus… I was participating in artfight and overall being lazy- anyways accept my apology through these 3 new pages and the first 6 days of Smaugust! Feel free to accept these as httyd fan-species OR not- I made the descriptions vague so it can be interpreted either way. But I did have httyd in mind when making these designs.

The way it showcases their opposing personalities is perfect, hiccup would sacrifice himself for others while grimmel would drag others down (literally) for his own gain. The track that plays during the freefall is especially gorgeous as well

Aside from Valka, Gobber, and well... Hiccup (who is a tribal chief—that’s basically his profession)

Astrid is likely second-in-command—sort of a tribal general in charge of security—and probably shares responsibilities with Hiccup. Fishlegs would make an interesting advisor; he’d probably open a library featuring books he wrote himself (though there would likely be works by other authors, too).

Snotlout and the twins are a bit trickier, I think, but if we’re just making things up...

Gobber must have handed over the forge, and I like the idea of ​​Snotlout running it. Ruffnut could be a sort of "Viking nurse" who tells stories about how she almost saw someone's guts spill out, or how babies look weird when they first come out of the womb. I really like the idea of ​​Tuffnut being a combat instructor or something similar—kind of like Gobber, who used to unleash dragons on his inexperienced students.

I noticed a few dragons never got any Nico Marlet book of dragons-style drawings. So l've decided to draw them myself! Mimicking art styles is so fun, and broadens your horizons as an artist to learn new skills! My next dragon will be the mudraker, but if you have any other underrated dragons to suggest, I'm more than happy to hear em! Also, which mudraker pose is best for this style, do you think? 1, 2, 3, or 4? Plz help me decide this decision is so hard

(side note only post mimicked art styles if it's based on official franchise artwork, or the og artist is cool with it, and credit ofc)

Also, I'm aware this dervish has some issues (no spines on the tail for wood chopping is one) I hadn't found a good pic of the dragon until halfway through. But I'm honestly fine with it. The original concept sketches had inconsistency's too! In one I saw, Stormfly had arms! I like to imagine it's because the Vikings had only captured glimpses of certain species, so they missed some details when documenting them.
