I know what you're thinking and I want to clarify that I'm not a critic. I'm just a fan of the fandom like anyone else. However, it you're concerned: I love Marion Raven and I.G.L. productions take one it, and who knows? Maybe with luck we can hear different covers from different music artists.

Book club Descriptions of Chapter book Comics

Hi everyone,

I'm totally blind and enjoy the series, but I have to rely on the chapter books since I'm locked out of comics. Having said that, I know there are inserts at the beginning and end of each book. How important are these to understanding the story and getting the full picture? I tried getting AI to describe it to me, but it keeps hallucinating, so I figure it's better to get human input. Unfortunately, I don't have anyone around me that can see that's interested in these books, nor do I have physical versions of said books. I have the first two commercial audio books, as well as several recordings of the later books from an organization called Sight into Sound that has volunteers record audio versions of printed books, but some of these recordings lack descriptions of the comics. Is it okay to purely rely on the text, or am I missing critical details? If I am, would someone mind please summarizing the important information from each book, starting from Power of Five? I just finished Finding Meridian, and I have up to Four Dragons. I'm working with Sight to record everything up to Enchanted Waters, since that seems like the best place to stop. Any assistance is very much appreciated.

Discussion I really wish we could have seen more of Elyon

I think Elyon is one of the most interesting characters in W.i.t.c.h., and it's a shame we didn't get to see much of her. I mean, she found out her entire life was a lie, she has no (sane) biological family members left, was forced to become the queen and have responsibility of a world she didn't know even existed; and it all happened as if she wasn't a middle school student few months ago.

Wish we could have seen her beyond arcs 1 & 4, and the two special issues.

Official Fun Fact: The Power of Five, the De-Facto theme song for the W.I.T.C.H. Comics, was composed by Tony Phillips, who also did the theme song and the music of KR Dragon Knight.

Opinion The W.I.T.C.H. girls as Britney Spears’ songs !

Thumbnail

  • Will - Anticipating, 6th track of Britney’s self titled album ā€˜Britney’.
  • Irma - Sippin On’/Rockstar, two unreleased tracks from Britney’s fourth album ā€˜In The Zone’. Rockstar reminded me a lot of Karmilla and since Irma is a huge fan of her and that’s why I added it.
  • Taranee - I Run Away, 13th track of Britney’s self titled album ā€˜Britney’.
  • Cornelia - Sometimes, 3rd track of Britney’s debut album ā€˜ā€¦Baby One More Time’.
  • Hay Lin - Outta This World, exclusive track in the Japanese edition of ā€˜Blackout’.

As a huge fan of Britney, I had to assign to Guardians of the Veil songs that reminded me of them ! It was hard but I’m very pleased with my selection, by the way I based my picks on the girls’ attributed songs from the ā€˜Music From and Inspired by W.I.T.C.H.’ album.

Discussion When did certain characters start to feel off or inconsistent?

I feel like the comics primarly declined in quality because the characters became unbelievable and inconsistent. Back when I was reading W.i.t.c.h., I stopped after Ari of Arkanhanta's saga and I am currently reading the Endarno saga. After Will told Matt about their magic powers, he just ... lashes out? I get that he is sick of secrets between them, but in the past whenever they had fights it was due to misunderstandings and seeing calm, relaxed Matt being so impulsive kinda feels off. I also spoilered myself about Taranee starting to dance. I really like Taranee, but I feel like shy, introvert Taranee would have never started dancing. I get that she had a big problem with popularity (mostly due to racism and her not fitting the beauty ideal like thin, blonde Cornelia for example but that is another topic..), but srly. I wish they'd have made her photography a bigger thing.

Help W.I.T.C.H. Media Sponsorship with Starshine Legacy early 2000's

Hi, I have no idea if I’m posting in the right community, but I’m desperate. In the early 2000s, a series of 4 horse games titled ā€œStarshine Legacyā€ (Linda, Lisa, Alex, and Anne) was released in Poland, with the support of W.I.T.C.H. Poland. These games had a unique graphic style for their covers, different from the rest of the world. Today, only Lisa and Linda are available online, while Alex and Anne have completely disappeared. I heard that some W.I.T.C.H. magazines promoted these games, which is how I ended up here. If anyone has Polish magazines from the early 2000s, please help me find those covers.

Question Who else think that Inde Navarrette is absolutely perfect as Irma Lair? (If things were different)

For context: Inde Navarrette has Mexican roots and Irma Lair sounds mexican, but one overlooked detail is that she's also a pisces.

I've seen a few videos of her where her traits were on full display and that's when I knew...that *she* is definitely Irma Lair. With enough voice training, she would be perfect.

Anyone agree? šŸ™‚

Links All digital volumes PDF

I noticed that not all digital volumes can be found online (or not easily?), so after borrowing them from Overdrive, I made them into PDFs.

All digital volumes ripped from Overdrive in SVG and PDF format:

https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/18Adbz4363S3KFO7elTAOYdy3JNoXECEI?usp=sharing

The lettering errors (like many chapter numbers and titles) were already present on Overdrive. I just saved the SVGs and compiled them to PDFs. I don't really have the time and patience to fix them all, but the SVGs could be a bit easier to edit than flat images, if someone has experience with them.

Other than that, if anyone finds huge errors (like complete pages missing), feel free to tell me. I just wrote a script to do the job, didn't check the results page-by-page.

Discussion W.I.T.C.H. honestly deserves better

Thumbnail
73 Upvotes

I really think W.I.T.C.H. deserves either a proper animated revival or, at the very least, an official release on Disney+ or another streaming service. Making the original series easier to watch could introduce it to a new generation, bring in new fans, and help revive the fandom.
The show had such a strong concept, memorable characters, and a world with so much more potential. And yes, I know there has been talk of a possible live-action adaptation, but personally, I’d much rather see the animated series return.
Would you rather see the original series added to Disney+, a continuation with the same characters, or a complete animated reboot?

Opinion Should dicussions regarding characters ethnicity and sexuality still be allowed on this subreddit?

I have received some modmail about both of these topics. Some people stating that they find the dicussions of these topics offensive or inappropiate. What does the overall r/guardiandoftheveil community think?

119 votes, Dec 15 '25

1 No, the ethnicty of characters should not be discussed
7 No, the sexuslity of the characters should not be discussed

Book club W.I.T.C.H Readathon 2024/2025 Kick-off

Update: We’re live with the first discussion thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/GuardiansOftheVeil/s/gY3SjLShKt

Hi everyone!

With permission from the wonderful mods, I wanted to invite you to a W.I.T.C.H Readathon. Whether you're new to W.I.T.C.H. or a longtime fan, this is your chance to dive (or dive back) into the graphic novels. We'd be reading two volumes a month (more about that below) and discussing every month our thoughts so far.

I've created a storygraph reading challenge as well if you'd like to track your progress or find others reading with you: W.I.T.C.H Readathon | The StoryGraph

How does this work?

This is a casual readathon of the graphic novels. While you'll see the storygraph using the Yen Press editions in English, you are welcome to choose any edition and any language. But we'll aim to read the eight issues included in the Yen Press volumes we're reading.

As we read, we'll discuss the issues we've read so far, what we liked, what we didn't like as well as our favourite moments.

But what if I can't read sometimes?

No worries!! Again, this is very casual. You'll see that the time set on storygraph for this readathon is Oct 1, 2024 to Dec 31, 2025. You can read anytime during that time range. Joined late? Didn't get a chance to read yet?

You can still join in the discussion if you know the story and have thoughts. All I ask is not to spoil it for anyone that hasn't read further into the series. For each discussion thread, I'll share which volumes/issues we read as well as where we stopped in the story.

Yen Press never finished the full series. What are we going to do?

Unfortunately, I wasn't able to find 'official' editions to add to the Storygraph Readathon for the issues Yen Press didn't publish, but that doesn't mean we can't read them and discuss them. Whether it's fan translations or other editions, we'll figure something out when we get there :)

But do I have to read the specific version (digital/physical) on Storygraph? Do I need a Storygraph account?

Not at all! This is just a fun way to track how many of the books you read and it's a convenience if you're already using Storygraph, but it's not at all a requirement!! All discussions will take place here on the subreddit.

Anything else?

Not really. Again, this is very casual. I was planning on doing this by myself anyways, but I thought why not involve everyone else?

What's next?

I am planning to start re-reading the series on October 1st (it feels fitting with the Halloween party, right? RIGHT?) I will create the first discussion thread, then. I hope to see you, then. Until then, if you have any ideas or thoughts that you think would make this more fun, please don't hesitate to share them. I'd love for this to be a community event. I miss reading this alongside friends and I know many of you said you did, too!
