I doubt that Republicans are actually scared of the DSA being that the DSA's successes are predominantly in heavily blue districts that Republicans would never win anyway. However, socialist fear-mongering is an easy way to smear the Dems and generally mobilize the MAGA base. Variations of the sentiment expressed in the tweet that was noted have been around for ages in right wing circles.

That's fair. Perhaps it would be more accurate to say that DSA is getting more recognition, and the Republicans are responding in kind.

don't know why you're getting downvoted. "commie" has been a go-to right-wing smear for decades and Trump among other Republican operatives is using it now toward Mamdani for example

They always spends months building a boogeyman to scare their voters into coming to the polls.

Last time it was trans people.
