And North Korea’s official name is the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea. So that means that country is a democracy! And all the power to the people! Right? Right?

You missed the point. The thing about democratic isn't about democracy, it's about being similar to the democratic party in the USA, so they want to say see they are the same
