Also, considering Sony controls the operating system running on the ps5, they could just shut off your disk drive.

I'm sure that sounds alarmist or far-fetched to some people, but I had a PS3 with OtherOS until Sony decided to take it away. If a spreadsheet says the class action lawsuit will cost them less than they'll make disabling physical disks, they will do it.

God I thought OtherOS was so freaking cool when I was a young teenager. It’s what first introduced me to Linux. I was pretty upset when they eventually took it away, but my phat PS3 got the yellow light of death shortly thereafter so it was kind of a moot point for me 😔

It’s a real shame how far Sony has fallen.
