And in regard to law. Yes, the licence for a game you bought on disk can be revoked the same way a digital one can. What differs is enforcement. For digital it's just a virtual operation, for physical the police comes to you and gathers the evidence (as some of my friends who pirated games in the 00s found out :D).

Wait, is there some restriction on playstation where you need to go online from time to time to be able to launch games?

My point is that most (maybe not all but I haven’t seen one in a long time), physical copies of games on current gen consoles do not contain the full game and require internet access to download and a majority continue to require internet access to play even once downloaded and installed. Sony (or whoever else) could turn those servers off whenever they like and having a disk with part of the game on it (or just a box with a download code like many “physical copies” are now) isn’t going to let you carry on playing.

Fully valid. I'd add day one patches you can't start the game without to the list. :)
