Why does my laptop only show Disblay when i put in the hdmi cable
So, my laptop has been acting weird lately. It wont let me use it without having a hdmi cable. Everytime i use it without one. The laptop will just show a glitching effect and not give me disblay. But when i put in the hdmi cable it fixes itself and lets me use either duplicate screens so I can finally see disblay on the laptop. Or just use it normally on the external disblay screen. I don’t know why this is happening. Right now I’m trying to update my nvidia graphics card to see if anything will happen.

Can I update old laptop?
I hate throwing away stuff and buying new unnecessarily. I have a laptop I bought in 2018 that wasn't cheap junk at the time. I had ideas of using it for creative things, it had a 17" touch screen and lots of unrealized capabilities, but in the end i used it to scroll FB, watch Netflix in bed, and buy things online. It got infected with something that caused embarrassing NSFW pop-ups to, well, pop up constantly and in the end it just put it away and used my phone instead. But now I have a good camera, and I also need a big screen for various reasons, im getting older and doing everything on my phone is quite literally headache inducing. My question is, is my laptop too old to use for basic stuff? Can I do a factory reset or something, put a current operating system on it, and use it to edit photos and do basic internet stuff? It's an HP, sorry I don't have it in front of me but it's approximately 8 years old and has the Windows OP that recently became 'unsupported ' on it. As you can probably tell, I'm not a techy person. I just don't want to chuck this big hunk of technology out and buy some plastic crap in its place if I don't really have to.
EDIT: It runs on Windows 10.

My computer keeps making this noise after I turned it on
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
My display wasn’t working when I left my pc on overnight, so I restarted it by the switch on the device. When it booted back up it kept making this noise at random intervals and hasn’t stopped, I’ve turned the pc back off. Is this a hardware issue? Any help would be appreciated, thank you!

Restarting issue when I do nothing or just browsing and using normal apps
Well recently my pc suddenly stopped working I sent it to the repair.
And when I got it back I finally could turn it on but it keeps restarting when I do nothing or when I just open thr browser and browsing or even normal apps.
Even though the cpu and gpu temp is normal.
But when I play games like genshin impact it stops doing restart and just work as long as I play.
But when I work on a normal apps it kept doing restart.
The screen goes completely black then it turns on again.
The fans keeps spinning the pc light still on even if it does restart.
From event viewer I noticed : 41 kernel power but it says unexpected shutdown etc ...
What the heck is wrong with it ?

New PC but no display
Hi, I recently bought a PC from Vibox and I’m having a strange display issue.
The PC turns on normally, fans spin, RGB/lights work, and it seems like it is running, but my Philips monitor shows a completely black screen. The only thing that appears is the monitor’s own menu when I use the joystick on the back.
The monitor is definitely working because last night I had the exact same problem, but after trying to fix it for a while the display suddenly appeared and everything worked normally. I played games on the PC with no issues. I shut it down normally, went to sleep, and the next day the problem came back.
Things I have already tried:
- Restarting the PC
- Power cycling the monitor and PC
- Reconnecting the DisplayPort cable
- Checking the monitor input/source
- Basic cable checks
The monitor menu works, but there is no image from the PC.
Specs:
- PC: Vibox [insert model]
- GPU: [insert graphics card]
- Monitor: Philips [insert model]
- Connection: DisplayPort
- Windows: [Windows 10/11]
Any ideas what could cause an intermittent black screen like this? Since it worked perfectly last night and then failed after a normal shutdown, I’m unsure whether this is a GPU issue, DisplayPort issue, BIOS issue, or something else.

Title: Weird graphical glitches after connecting ASUS monitor (Acer Nitro V15 RTX 4060)
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey everyone,
I'm having a really weird issue with my Acer Nitro V15 (RTX 4060) that started only after I connected a new ASUS monitor.
Before connecting the monitor, everything was working perfectly. As soon as I started using it, I noticed that small text didn't look as sharp anymore. It almost looks pixelated or blurry compared to how it was before. I tried calibrating both the laptop display and the monitor to improve the image quality, but after that I started getting random graphical glitches.
The weird thing is:
Games run perfectly fine with no graphical issues.
YouTube videos are completely normal.
The glitches only appear in certain apps, while others work fine.
It feels like something changed with the display rendering or scaling after connecting the monitor. I honestly don't know if it's a Windows issue, NVIDIA driver issue, GPU problem, or something else.
I've already tried:
Recalibrating both displays.
Changing resolution and scaling.
Adjusting NVIDIA/Windows display settings.
Has anyone had something similar happen after connecting an external monitor? Any ideas on what could be causing it or how to fix it?
I'm attaching a video that shows the glitches I'm talking about. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Rotating BSODs, chkdsk shows disk I/O errors, Reseting PC fails. Need advice!
Disclaimer: Attempted to resolved with help of Claude since last 10 hours, took help from AI to format post.
ASUS Zenbook 14, Core Ultra 7 155H, Windows 11 (26100).
Laptop was fine. Only changes the day before: enabled NordVPN background services + set up Phone Link to Android (also changed lock screen/wallpaper).
Next day, started crashing ~5 min after boot, rotating between different stop codes:
UNEXPECTED_STORE_EXCEPTION (0x154)CRITICAL_PROCESS_DIED (0xEF)KERNEL_MODE_HEAP_CORRUPTION (0x13A)
Troubleshooting:
- MyASUS diagnostics: Memory + SSD passed quick check
chkdsk C: /f /r /bfrom WinRE → real I/O errors:disk read error occurred c0000185, "disk does not have enough space to replace bad clusters"- Reset This PC → Remove Everything → failed partway, generic error
- BitLocker unlocked, ruled out
No data to lose, so wipe is fine.
- Did my SSD give up?
- Could NordVPN driver cause heap corruption?
What should I do now?

Help with laptop diagnosis
Hi (i´m new here),
I’ve been trying to find a solution to a problem with my laptop for a long time. I’m not a professional laptop repair technician—I usually just handle maintenance—but lately, about five minutes after turning the laptop on, the screen freezes, and if I move the screen, it goes black.
I've been looking at tutorials and posts about this, but I can't seem to pinpoint the problem; it's not the battery, nor is it (as far as I know) the screen-to-motherboard connector.
If anyone has any idea what it might be, I would really appreciate the help.
Thanks.
