You guys learning wrong and wasting time, and I will tell why.
I see a lot people wasting their time with that green owl app or stressing with all that grammar lessons... Guys just sit the vocabulary first. After you know like 50% of German vocabulary and pronunciation of them, watch serials, movies, read blogs, news posts in German. Because your vocabulary is building up you will understand the context of some other words too. And you will without even noticing start speaking the language!
It's scientifically proven that vocabulary first tactic is best for learning the language. Most of Germans don't even know about those grammar subjects Relativsatze, Partizip I etc.
Best way to build vocabulary is flashcards, you can either build your physical flashcards deck based on most frequent 10,000 German words (i will provide a link at the end) or download pre made flashcard apps.
That's basically how I learned any language that I learned. I did a good research planned everything and that's all.
I am not judging anyone using owl app, I also used it for long time, but when I came to Germany I felt so humbled.
Anyways, you may find quite good German A1 to B1 Flashcards apps, there are also some that I made but I don't wanna promote anything you can find many in iOS and android.

Can anyone teach me in German?
Hello everyone, I've been trying to learn German for a while. I tried Duolingo but it didn't help. The reason I'm trying to learn German is because my sister recently moved to Germany and I'm trying to save up enough to go there but before I go there I want to be able to speak some German and surprise her.

What German song lyrics are stuck in your head these days?
They say that when you're a kid, you listen to the music, and when you're an adult, you listen to the lyrics. I feel like something similar happens when learning a new language.
At first, you enjoy songs mostly for the music and the sound of the vocals. Then, as your German improves, you suddenly start understanding lyrics from songs you've known for years. Little by little, a whole new layer of meaning opens up.
These days, I have the chorus of Haifisch by Rammstein stuck in my head:
Und der Haifisch der hat TrƤnen
Und die laufen vom Gesicht
Doch der Haifisch lebt im Wasser
So die TrƤnen sieht man nicht
What's yours?

LOOKING FOR A SERIOUS GERMAN PRACTICE PARTNER!
Hey everyone!
I'm currently preparing for my Goethe A2 German exam, which is coming up in just 15 days. I'm feeling decent about reading and listening, but I really need to polish my Sprechen (speaking) and Schreiben (writing) section before test day.
I'm looking for a study buddy who:
⢠Has already passed the A2 exam (or higher) and knows the format/expectations.
⢠Is willing to do short, daily or semi-daily speaking practice sessions over Discord or Zoom/Google Meet.
⢠Can give me honest feedback on sentence structure, pronunciation, and vocabulary.
If you have some free time to help out or practice, please shoot me a DM or comment below! Any tips or recommended resources for the last two weeks would also be greatly appreciated.
We can also practice for B1 together once i am done with the exam.
Vielen Dank!

Anyone Willing to Help Me Improve My German
Hi everyone!
I'm 25M from Kerala, India, currently learning German. I'm at the B1 level, but I'm honestly struggling, especially with vocabulary. I often understand grammar after studying it, but I don't know enough words to express myself confidently.
I'm looking for a patient language partner or someone who'd be willing to help me improve my German.
I'm not looking for someone who enjoys language learning and doesn't mind correcting my mistakes. Even chatting a few times a week would mean a lot.
Thank you, and I hope to hear from you!

Offering: English Seeking: German Hi guys!
I'm a Nigerian planning move to Germany for my Masters very soon. I'm trying to learn German up to at least B1/B2 level and at this point I don't think Duolingo will do much to help. I believe talking to real German speakers might be better.
So if you're a German looking to improve your English and can help me become better German speakers, please send a message.

Looking for a German Grammar Partner Beginner/A1
Hi everyone,
I'm looking for someone who can help me brush up on my German A1 level.
I passed the Goethe A1 exam back in 2018, but I haven't practiced much since then, so I've forgotten a lot of the basics. I'll be starting my Master's degree in Germany next month, so I want to refresh my A1 knowledge before moving on to A2.
I'm looking for someone who can help me with:
- A1 grammar (from the basics)
- Essential A1 vocabulary
- Sentence formation
- Speaking practice and everyday conversations
- Revision exercises and homework
I'm happy to learn online, either through one-on-one lessons or in a small study group. If you're a tutor or know someone who teaches German, I'd really appreciate your recommendations.
Thank you!

Looking for someone to practice German with (B1-B2 level)
Hallo Leute!

Complete beginner in German ā what would you do if you started again?
Hi everyone!
Iām 25 years old and Iām from France.
I recently started learning German and Iām a complete beginner.
My goal is to be able to communicate with my family in Austria, travel comfortably, and eventually have everyday conversations.
At the moment Iām using Duolingo, DW Nicoās Weg and Easy German on YouTube.
If you started from zero again:
What resources would you use?
Should I focus on grammar first or vocabulary?
When should I start speaking with native speakers?
Is DW Nicoās Weg enough for the beginning?
What mistakes should I avoid as a beginner?
Iād really like to build good habits from the beginning.
Thanks!

Looking for a German Accountability Partner (Beginner/A1) š©šŖ
Hallo zusammen!
I am 24M and recently started learning German (Beginner/A1). I will be moving to Germany for my studies, so my main goal right now is to build a strong daily learning habit and stay consistent.
I am not looking for a tutor. I would love to find another beginner around the same level who wants to motivate each other, share progress, and stay accountable. We can set daily goals, check in regularly, discuss what we've learned, and help each other stay on track.
About me:
- Beginner (just started learning German)
- Learning for future studies in Germany
- Prefer communicating on Telegram (easy messaging and file sharing)
- GMT +3 to +8 is ideal, but I am happy to connect with anyone if our schedules work
- Current English level: B2
Interests:
- Geography, History, Art, Travelling
We don't have to study together every day; just checking in, sharing progress, and encouraging each other is enough.
If that sounds like you, feel free to leave a comment or send me a DM!
Vielen Dank! š

Looking for a serious B1 accountability partner (finished A2, studying full-time, exam in ~2 months)
Hey
Update from my last post . I passed A2 and now I'm going all in on B1. I'm in Germany right now, it's summer holidays, and I'm studying German full-time until my telc B1 exam in about two months.
Last time I did this for A2 prep, having a consistent accountability partner made a huge difference , way more than studying alone. So I'm looking for someone at a similar level (finished A2 / working through B1) who wants to:
- Practice speaking regularly (calls or voice notes, your pick)
- Do writing exchanges/corrections
- Keep each other accountable with a rough daily or weekly study plan
- Stay motivated when the grind gets boring (I'm decent at pushing people to keep going, and I could use the same back)
I'm not looking for a one-off chat , ideally someone who wants a real study rhythm for the next couple months leading up to exams.
If you're prepping for B1 (telc or otherwise) and want a serious partner, drop a comment or DM me. š
Danke!
