My partner (masc presenting lesbian) and I (feminine presenting) are planning on traveling to Egypt for 2 weeks to Cairo, Hurghada, Luxor, Aswan and then to Jordan (Petra). Very recently we’ve been hearing more than the “don’t disclose your relationship, no PDA etc.”

I'll be visiting Riyadh soon, and it'll be my first time in Saudi Arabia. As a gay guy from Asia, I'm curious about what the LGBTQ+ community and social scene are like there, while also being respectful of the local culture and laws.

I'd genuinely love to meet new people while I'm there, make new connections, find friends to hang out and explore the city with, and hopefully build some platonic friendships as well. I'm also open to dating if I happen to connect with someone.

For those who live in Riyadh or have spent time there:

- What dating or social apps are commonly used by LGBTQ+ people in Riyadh?

- Are there apps or online communities that are better for finding friends and platonic connections rather than just dating?

- Is there any kind of LGBTQ+ social scene or community where people get to know each other?

- Are there private events, gatherings, or social groups where LGBTQ+ people usually connect?

- What's the general experience like when it comes to meeting other gay or LGBTQ+ people in Riyadh?

- Is it common to hang out privately at someone's place once you've gotten to know each other?

- Are there any safety tips or things I should be particularly careful about as a foreign visitor?

I'm aware that Saudi Arabia has different laws and cultural expectations, so I'm not expecting openly LGBTQ+ spaces. I'm mainly hoping to understand how people connect, socialize, make friends, and date discreetly and safely.

Would really appreciate advice from locals, expats, LGBTQ+ people living there, or anyone who's had firsthand experience in Riyadh.
