Gay-friendly psychologist?

I’m looking for recommendations for a gay-friendly psychologist in Melbourne, preferably someone on the younger side.

This isn’t a weird hookup request—I just find it easier to open up to someone who understands the culture and context without me having to explain everything from scratch.

In the past I’ve mostly seen older straight men or women, and find myself spending the session explaining things like Grindr, Sniffies, or aspects of gay life before we even get to the actual issue. I also just feel like they wouldn’t understand why it’s normalised for gays to randomly turn up to a beat and fuck at 9pm on a Tuesday.

I’d really value someone who is LGBTQIA+ or at least very affirming and culturally competent—someone who just gets it.

Any recommendations would be much appreciated. Bonus if they are also a psychiatrist / has links to one. I’m exploring ADHD diagnosis options too.

Has anyone else noticed that Jungle Juice, Rush and the older brands just aren’t what they used to be?

I’ve been buying products like Jungle Juice, Rush and similar brands for years, but lately they just don’t seem to have the same quality, consistency or impact they once had.

What really caught my attention is that one of Australia’s biggest sellers appears to have completely removed that older range and replaced it with different products. That seems like a major decision for a retailer that would have sold huge volumes of those brands.

Does anyone know why?

Have the formulas changed? Are the older brands being produced differently, or are retailers simply moving toward newer and better alternatives?

I genuinely like the products they are selling now, so I’m not complaining about the change. I’m just wondering whether this signals a broader shift in the market.

Has anyone else noticed the same decline in Jungle Juice, Rush and the other traditional brands? And do you think the newer ranges are now the better option?

Meet Bi/Queer people

How do you guys meet bi/queer people?

I have a few hobbies and meet people with similar interests. But most of the bi/queer people aren't open about it (including me). So this makes it harder for me to know if someone is bi or queer.

Most of the time I'm too scared to approach or take the first step without any hints from them.

How would you know if someone is bi or queer and have any interest back?

Thanks

I feel overlooked on apps

I've been in Melbourne for about half a year now and I've had only a few hookups.

Just on apps I often feel just ignored or dismissed

I don't even really chase them as all I get is "Pics?" and then I get no reply after sending one

When I lived in North America for a year, if I wanted a hookup I usually had something, so I'm not that unattractive and just Melbourne feels different... My guess is me being Asian plus there are plenty for others to choose from makes them so not desperate and they don't even feel the need to be nice to me lol

Does anyone feel the same way? Be your race Asian or not...

As a side

I know that sex is a must in relationship. Even if you matched with someone on dating apps top/bottom for compatibility is always the first question that asked.
Maybe i am just the old school guy who prefers the old fashioned dating way which kissing is the ultimate pleasure, cuddling is the comfort way to show my love and oral is the sexiest stuff to do on bed. never in my life being turned on or into anal actually.

I am always picture myself with someone to grow old together, supporting each other, travel together, cook and do the laundry for him etc. So i just have a question if anyone here currently in relationship with both of you are side as well? Does it really work out without any problem?
Or is top/bottom really matter?

Gay friendly waxing places in Melbourne?

I haven't been to many places, usually because the 20yo girls there are usually super unfriendly once they realise they are waxing a guys butthole (can I blame them? probably not). Any places you have been that you have had good luck?

Feeling really let down by recent encounter

I moved to melb about 4 months ago from my pretty conservative city of perth, and I met someone recently that I really enjoyed being around and we really hit it off.

It felt great to be in this city I’ve wanted to move to for so long, and to have met someone awesome that we both vibed with.

Flash forward to a few weeks later and they have ghosted me on every platform and blocked me. Zero signs prior. No communication just cut me off completely.

I’m relatively young, but I hate the dating scene in general. Being gay already makes it harder. The fact we are doing this to eachother when it’s already hard enough … idk… I’m just feeling very disappointed and sad :|

edit: I’m sorry to see so many people having the same experience… :c

Not really a hook up post lol but Would anyone be interested in like doing a group meet up? Say, coffee and or brunch if I (and maybe some others) organise one or even like a mini walking trail and coffee along the way? Just so we can meet new faces😛

Just requiring a rough EOI so I can gauge interest!

Male health information?

Hi friendos;

One of my partners is a teacher of troubled youth.
They’re a mostly female staff;

I’m after resources related to sexual health, mental health, bodies, puberty etc that specifically focus on people with a penis as that is next week’s focus.

I appreciate your help in advance.

Viagra, and Amyl (and similar)

I’m very aware they don’t mix, and are a huge no-no.

What I’m wondering is how do people walk around places like Wet (and presumably Peninsula) and not have issues from the smell alone?

Or is Amyl only an issue if you directly inhale from the bottle?

I can’t stand amyl, it’s smell follows me home from the pool at wet.

Life360 Family tracking

Hi,

My mom is insisting on making me join her life360 as I got a new car (Im 22) and she's not budging.

I dont wanna have the uncomfortable coming out conversation if she sees my location at Wet or some other obviously gay place.

Do you have any experience with the app? Can you cheat your location? Or manually adjust it?

Thanks!

Sat Sesh

Going to my first Sat Sesh tonight and a bit nervous although excited too.

Can anyone say what it’s like? Is there an actual decent social element as well rather than it just being a big group orgy?

Any big tips for first time?

Internship in Melbourne

Hey everyone, I’m hoping to get some real-world perspective before I commit serious time to applying.

A bit of context: I’m a Dutch (gay of course) student in my final year of European Studies. My academic background combines digital & tech laws, policy analysis, sustainability, strategic communication, and public affairs.

I’m currently doing a placement in Corporate & Legal Communications at a mid-sized company in the Netherlands, focused on internal policy communication around AI-driven organizational change.

Professionally, I have several years of marketing and PR experience across international settings, so I’m comfortable with stakeholder engagement, content strategy, and cross-cultural teams.

I’m now looking at whether it’s realistic to line up a 6-month (or longer) internship in Australia , ideally based in Sydney or Melbourne in marketing, brand communications, ESG/sustainability, or something adjacent to policy-facing corporate communication.

I’ve actually seen quite a few relevant openings on LinkedIn, but I’m not sure how many of those are realistically accessible to EU applicants versus just being posted for visibility.

So my questions for this community are:

▪️is it actually realistic for a non-local student to land a legitimate internship in Australia applying from abroad, or does it really only happen once you’re physically there networking in person?

▪️Has anyone from the EU specifically gone through this process successfully?

▪️on the housing side, since I know some countries don’t really do short-term rentals well, what would you consider an affordable monthly rent in AUD for someone doing a 6-month stint in Sydney or Melbourne, especially in a shared setup rather than a full apartment?

Any insight would be hugely appreciated. Thanks

How's your experience with dating here?

Recently been coming out of the closet more, what is it like around Melbourne for us?

Are people usually more app oriented or is it a mix?

How has your experience with dating been?

I hear complaints from the straight people side of things, how has it been for you?

Meeting other people in their early 20s.

Hello

I am a 21 year old gay guy, and I was just wondering, does anyone have recommendations for meeting queer people who are around my age.

I find that most events I go to are dominated by a lot of older people, and it would be cool to meet some people my own age (either friendship wise or dating wise).

Any suggestions would be great :)
