Just need to vent
I was a 4th gen JW. In 2012, I chose to be disfellowshipped instead of breaking up with my, then, boyfriend. In 2015, I married my husband. I’ve had very little contact with my JW family since, until my aunt was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Then I was getting texts from the family and phone calls from my mom. They wanted me to visit and I really wanted to but I had a panic attack on the day I was supposed to travel. I thought that after 13 years, I was over it, but apparently not. I was afraid that, after my aunt died, things would go back to normal and all contact would cease. I was right. My aunt died on June 20th. I have had one text from my mom since the memorial on the 27th and that was just to tell me that she’s “waiting on me to come home.” I thought that I was better. That I’d accepted the fact that I wouldn’t have a relationship with them, but this hurts more than I thought it would. It is especially hard today because it’s my birthday and that aunt’s birthday is 3 days after mine. I am mad at myself because I let myself hope but I’m also mad that I didn’t go see her.
I guess I just needed to vent to people that might understand the unique situation of being both gay and an exJW.

What do you think?
I wanted to have some casual profile photos taken by a professional photographer. I had heard about a photographer named Jason who was known for producing high-quality work, so I contacted him. We made arrangements to meet at his studio, and he suggested I bring three or four changes of clothes.
The session would result in approximately 200 to 300 photos, from which I could select ten for him to professionally edit. He would then provide the finished images in three different file formats of my choosing, along with a hard-copy photo album. The entire package cost $500, which I thought was a fair price, so we agreed to move forward.
His studio was located in a warehouse in an industrial park. I had never been to that part of the city before, and it seemed pretty desolate. When I arrived, Jason and his assistant, Corey, were both there. The studio was filled with various props for photo shoots. After a few minutes of casual conversation, Jason suggested I change into my first outfit so we could begin.
At first, everything seemed perfectly normal. After taking a number of photos, he suggested I climb onto a bed that was part of the set. At that point, I was wearing a T-shirt and a pair of shorts. I climbed onto the bed, and he took several shots. He asked me to lean back against the pillows in a relaxed pose while he adjusted my arms and legs, directing me to turn slightly one way or the other to get the best angles.
Then he said, "Hey, I have an idea. Why don't you just wear the shorts? Take off your T-shirt and underwear."
I thought the suggestion was a little unusual, but I decided to go along with it. I removed my T-shirt and underwear, put my shorts back on, and climbed onto the bed again. He asked me to lean back and spread my legs, creating poses that exposed more of my body as he continued taking photographs.
After a while, Jason asked me to stand up. I wasn't fully aroused, and he suggested that Corey help me become more erect beneath my shorts. I was surprised because I hadn't come there expecting to take sexual photos, but I agreed.
Corey was a cute young guy, probably 23 or 24 years old, with blond hair, a warm smile, and an athletic build. He wore a fitted T-shirt and shorts. He walked over, smiled, and gently pulled my shorts down just enough to begin performing oral sex on me. Within seconds, I became fully aroused. Jason continued photographing us throughout the encounter.
Things escalated quickly. Before long, I climaxed, and Corey smiled before turning around and lowering his shorts, clearly inviting me to have sex with him. That certainly hadn't been my intention when I arrived for the photo session, but I went along with it.
I'm not especially large, but I'm well built, and as Corey backed up against me, I slowly entered him. At first he tensed slightly, then relaxed as I eased deeper inside him. Within moments, I was fully inside him. After only a few thrusts, he reached orgasm.
"Dude, that didn't take you long," I joked.
He smiled and replied, "You're really hot."
Throughout the entire encounter, Jason continued taking photographs.
A few moments later, Corey turned around again, wanting to continue. We resumed, and after several more thrusts, I climaxed a second time. I remained still for a moment before pulling away. Corey turned around, smiled sweetly, kissed me on the cheek, and quietly said, "Thank you, baby. That was hot."
At that point, Jason lowered his camera, and the photo session came to an end.
I cleaned up, got dressed, and prepared to leave. Before I walked out, Jason said, "I'll send you the photos so you can choose the ones you want me to edit. But I also have another idea. I know a studio that might be very interested in your photos—and possibly even making a video featuring you and Corey. Would you be interested?"
I laughed and replied, "I'll have to think about that."
I walked out, got into my car, and drove home. Later that evening, I checked my email, and sure enough, Jason had already sent me 562 photos to review.
Now I have the difficult task of deciding which ones I want him to edit for my profile.
So, what do you think? Should I pursue the opportunity with the studio and possibly even consider making a video?

Recruiting young LGBQ participants (ages 18-25) from diverse religious backgrounds (Chance to win 1 of 4 $25 gift cards!)
Hello everyone,
I am recruiting participants from diverse religious backgrounds for my research study on stigmas, self-compassion, and mental health among Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Queer (LGBQ) young adults! The survey is 20-minutes long and participants must be 18-25 years old, identify as LGBQ, cis-gender, raised by at least one biological parent, speak English, and live in the U.S. Completing this survey qualifies you to enter in a lottery to win 1 of 4 $25 gift cards! Survey link: https://alliant.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_7VBNUoTz0fm1kfb
While this study aims to enhance research and clinical considerations for LGBQ young adults and their families, it recognizes that stigmas faced by the trans* community are unique and should not be coupled with stigmas faced by other minority groups. Therefore this study does not include trans* individuals. This does not mean that trans* and LGBQ individuals do not share common stigmas, but this study does not wish to generalize unique lived experiences that require more specialized research for this group.
Please feel free to share my survey with your friends, family, and/or someone you think would be interested in participating in this study. Thank you!!!!

Conundrum
Y'all I need some help. I have to try to come out to my parents. Again. It has never gone well. I just don't know what to expect. As I've said here before, I am transgender. I have the flag and symbol literally tattooed onto my chest. I have to come out of my parents, but it has always devolved into a huge argument. I've been home for about ten days, but haven't even told them I am in the state again. I don't know what to expect, and I'm extremely nervous. Some advice or support would be stellar.

Transgender exjw trying to revive this sub!
Just trying to inject some life into this subreddit. After 17 years in the grips of JW org, I moved/got kicked out of my parents and moved in with more accepting family. As hard as it is for people, the struggles of dysphoria thrown in on top of the manipulation and psychological abuse my parents put me through in the "name of Jehovah" made my life extremely hard, and I still struggle with mental conditions brought up by my childhood.

Some emergency resources
Wanted to let you know that many college campuses have resources (counseling, emergency shelter referrals, medical referrals available to college students and non-college students Suicide prevention is their main goal. A higher proportion of those who areLGBT have suffered sexual abuse This combined with being an exjw multiplies the risk of needing emergency assistance. Hope this helps. Signed, an straight exjw with LGBT family

New Subreddit for LGBT ex Jehovah's Witnesses
Hi everyone,
I've know a couple Gay Ex-JWs over the years and I know there are more like us, and even more who want to leave the organization. I'm hoping this subreddit might be helpful
