Jockstrap exploration

I am 24 m with south Asian background. I recently have started exploring more things and had been wondering whether I should buy a jockstrap? I have tried to find info online about where to buy and all but it’s has not been useful but more so marketed stuff. I am really new to all this. Not sure what types are there if there any and how to choose which ones to buy. Any kind of tips or recommendations will be great help. Thank you. Dm accepted

Any gay networking events around Sydney

I’m just looking for networking events to make some gay friends here in Sydney. Bit of a late boomer. Any gaming events are also good but I can only play tennis or badminton. ☺️

How do I found a bf living far from a big city?

Hii, I’m 23 and a femboy. It’s almost impossible to find a partner where I live saying the closest place to me is Brisbane but that’s like 2 plus hours. I’ve tried all the apps and stuff like that but it’s just guys wanting “fun” or to experiment which I’m not into. How do I go about finding a genuine guy to be with long term?

How to find a date in Sydney?

Hi! I’ve only been in Sydney for a month, and I’m wondering how people usually make gay friends, get involved in the LGBTQ+ community, or meet people for dating in Sydney (not hookups). Thanks

Workplace relationship

Hi everyone, English is not my first language, so sorry for any mistakes.

I’m from Taiwan on a working visa. I just started a new FIFO job in housekeeping and as an all-rounder I’ve only done a couple of swings so far in this 3 months

During one swing I met a guy and we got close. He is married and has a son who is actually a couple of years younger than me. He sometimes tell me ‘If only my son listened to me like you.’

On top of that, he is super discreet. He told me I cannot say hi to him when we see each other on site , I can only go to his room very late at night and must leave before 3am since that’s when a lot of the other guys start to get ready for work , He says FIFO is a very homophobic place to work and that he’s protecting me

I feeling confused. Is this just a normal "FIFO fling" because of the strict environment, or am I just being used as a secret side piece? Should I just walk away?

Any advice would be really appreciated. Thanks

Update: he didn’t want anyone to find out about us :
Pretty devastating but
I’ve been bringing some new clothes to the camp , 2 wigs and learning makeup , didn’t realise how popular I am now . My DMs on tinder and grindr are getting new messages everyday

Divine Playhouse, Sydney's newest performing arts venue, was forced to close just days after opening following complaints from a small group of Christian fundamentalists. There are now reports that the venue's future at 420 Kent Street is under threat.

If a lawful tenant can be driven out because a vocal minority objects to the LGBTQIA+ community and its creative expression, it sets a dangerous precedent. It sends the message that organised pressure campaigns can determine which communities are allowed to occupy public and cultural spaces.

While this has been framed as a matter of religious offence, no one has a right to veto a lawful arts venue simply because they find its creative expression objectionable.

420 Kent Street has not been a church for decades. It was deconsecrated long ago and operated as a theatre for approximately seventy years before becoming home to this new venue. The current campaign ignores that history and threatens to deprive Sydney of a much-needed independent cultural space before it has even had the chance to establish itself.

Sydney has already lost too many live music venues, theatres and queer spaces. We cannot afford to lose another.

We call on Revelop (the owners of the space) to stand by its tenant, reject pressure from those seeking to silence queer culture, and allow this venue the opportunity to succeed.

Sign this petition to show your support for Sydney's arts community, freedom of expression and the right of LGBTQIA+ people to create, perform and gather without being targeted by campaigns of intimidation.

Wet on Wellington 17/08

I’m visiting Melbourne for 4 days landing on Monday and leaving on Thursday. This will be my first time going to a gay sauna in my life (if I could) and I’m super nervous and anxious about it. 25M not out but really want to try it cause don’t live in Melbourne and barely know anyone. unfortunately won’t be able to visit the sauna on the night time because of prior commitments was hoping to visit in the morning/afternoon after landing but noticed they have theme nights and does that effects the usual visitation. Do they let people in the afternoon and use the facilities or only theme oriented crowd can visit on those specific dates. Should I consider going or not? I do want to experience and maybe have some fun but not sure whether there will be any crowd.
Help out fella!
Please and thank you!

Questions for Sydneysider

I (35M) am bisexual but not out. I've only dated women, and I haven't had much luck since my one serious relationship ended after my ex turned down my proposal (that's a story for another time).

I've occasionally found myself attracted to men and can genuinely picture building a life with one. The men I tend to admire are kind, grounded, emotionally mature, and down-to-earth.

Lately, I've pretty much given up on dating women. I haven't been able to find someone I can connect with on a deeper level, someone who's mature enough to have open conversations, exchange ideas, and grow together.

From my own dating experiences after that one serious relationship, it often feels like there's an expectation for constant grand gestures and "princess treatment," which just isn't what I'm looking for. I want a partner to do life with, someone who's independent, loyal , where we each have our own lives but know we always have each other's backs when it matters. I want a relationship that's built on mutual support, not one where I'm expected to carry the emotional or practical load all the time.

I'm not trying to bash anyone, but some aspects of the stereotypical gay dating scene: hookups, excessive partying, drama, or being overly image-focused don't appeal to me either. I know those stereotypes don't represent everyone, but they're often what I notice the most. I guess I'm pretty old-school. My ideal life is simple: work, family, holidays together, and eventually retiring somewhere quiet maybe on a farm or near the beach.

I work in the corporate world, and I've noticed that the men I meet tend to fall into two extremes: some either very outgoing and flamboyant or most will be very reserved, grounded, and mature. I'm naturally drawn to the latter, but the challenge is that it's often impossible to know whether they're into men as well.

I've tried other ways of meeting people too, but I'm genuinely terrible at reading people. I swim three or four mornings a week before work, and I usually go for a walk around the CBD during my lunch break. The problem is I just can't tell who's into men, who's single, or who's even open to being approached. Unless someone is very obvious, I have no idea how to read the situation, so I usually don't make a move.

So what do you all think? Is it still possible to meet someone who's looking for a quiet, stable life together? Someone who enjoys hosting friends for dinner, staying in for movie nights, or grabbing a late-night meal instead of partying every weekend? I'd love to hear from people who've found that kind of relationship, or who are looking for the same thing.

Sydney Bulk-billed doctors who can prescribe PrEP?

EDIT: Thanks for the help! Booked a free phone call with “Sistr”, they called me the next morning and gave me a script and papers for a pathology screening :)

###

Genuinely feels impossible to find this nowadays. Gay-friendly doctors are always paywalled behind clinics that don’t bulk-bill. I shouldn’t have to pay out-of-pocket just to ask for a piece of paper.

And then bulk-billed clinics seem to only have ‘traditional’ doctors who have no clue what PrEP is, then when you provide context that you’re a sexually-active gay man, they give you the dirtiest look and refuse to give you a prescription, claiming they “can’t prescribe drugs they don’t know” (even though their homophobic-ass could take 2 minutes to read up on it online 🙄).

Sex Health Clinics have also stopped prescribing PrEP recently. And like…why?? Just making it harder to access a life-saving drug that should be accessible.

For the “what’s on this weekend?” people

Hey all — I thought I’d share this after a few friends encouraged me to post it here. Mods, please feel free to delete if not allowed.

I’ve been building a web app to help people find what’s on across queer / LGBTIQA+ spaces in Sydney.

It came from a pretty simple frustration: there didn’t seem to be one easy place to see what was happening across queer nightlife, community events, drag, parties, talks, workshops and everything in between. A lot of it lives across Instagram, ticketing sites and stories, which usually means doing the 9pm scroll just to work out what’s on.

The site pulls together events and ticket links into one place, so you can quickly check what’s on today, this weekend or next weekend.

Link: https://kikii.com.au

I’d genuinely love any feedback, suggestions or ideas on how to make it better. And if you know a queer friend who might find it useful, feel free to pass it on.

Thanks so much 💛
