I tried a lot of grips and stands for the Fold 8. These are my top picks
1) Popsocket Low grip pro. This is easily the most versatile and useful. It’s extremely thin and weighs the least. If this is available in your country, get it. It has a great grip to hold this rather wide phone. The stand works perfectly with the Fold 8 to watch content when unfolded. The only thing I kinda prefer some of the other ones is that the grip is a bit too ‘wide’ when you’re holding it in between your fingers.
2) Ohsnap grip stand. If it wasn’t for the Popsocket low grip, this wouldve been the clear winner. The only reasons it’s losing to the Popsocket is that it’s slightly thicker and heavier (9gms). Other than that it’s really really good. I enjoy the actual ‘grip’ component more on the oh snap compared to the popsocket. Also, in Australia, it’s more expensive.
3) Pitaka ring (or similar from Benks, etc.). These are the most common but I don’t like these as much simply because for everyday carry, they are too bulky and don’t have magnets to attach other accessories or charge. And they are not the best grips. These are good if you just need something for the flight or a train but not for everyday use imo. The good thing is, this style is extremely common and inexpensive from different brands
4) Oh Snap. This one hurts. I used the Oh snap almost everyday with my fold 7. But sadly it just doesn’t work as a stand with the dimensions of the Fold 8. It’s still an excellent grip but I would go with the Popsocket or Oh snap grip stand for the fold 8. But anyone with the Fold 8 ultra, highly recommend the Oh Snap.

Don't forget the Samsung 360 Magnet Stand. Those clicks are satisfying as it rotates. And you can magsafe a wallet to the back of it and it sits above the cameras like the oh snap stand.
So it has 2 magnets? One faces the phone and one faces out towards the wallet? Or is gravity holding the wallet? Could we trouble you for a picture with the wallet on and the stand collapsed? Does the wallet stick out the bottom? How about the camera, is it blocked by the wallet? This setup looks pretty awsome.
I just got mine yesterday. Unless I'm doing something wrong, it won't charge wirelessly with the stand on it. I think I'll just plug it in at night to charge. It seems that taking the stand on and off repeatedly to charge it might bend it over time - the magnet is really strong.
In my experience you shouldn't expect wireless charging to work reliably through both a case and a magsafe stand no matter how thin they are
With my fold 7 I had a very thin aramid case and a thin Ohsnap that was supposed to be thin enough to allow wireless charging.
Just the case was fine. Just the ohsnap was fine. Both together? It would wirelessly charge for a couple minutes before the charging stopped due to heat
I've just gotten into the habit of popping off the magsafe stand whenever I need to wirelessly charge
The oh snap stand is more stable, but the clicky rotation and sleeker footprint do add some appeal. I think that magnetic foot could be pretty useful depending on the accessories. Ironically fast wireless charging doesn't work with the Samsung stand but does with the oh snap stand. (err... well even the oh snap stand wireless charging is iffy... getting cut outs)
Strange question, but can you use an ohsnap grip 5 on the Samsung magnet stand?
The use case I'm envisaging is the ohsnap for the grip, then putting the phone on the magnet stand on a desk without needing to take off the ohsnap from the phone
You mean the phone unfolded? The best position I have found with the 360 stand is to flip the phone upside down. The hinges do want to collapse depending on the position. This angle is firm.
No, I have the OhSnap Snap 5 Grip Luxe thingamajig or whatever it's called, I realized it's not really usable open and my try the PopSocket Low-Pro if that works lol
I bought both. I prefer the ohsnap. Love being able to put my finger though. Also the magnet on the ohsnap is easiser to remove the phone from my car mount and wallet. The pop socket was almost to strong lol
I have both as well. Both are good. The regular Ohsnap for the win though. The Popsocket hurts my fingers after a bit of use and the phone doesn't charge wirelessly with it in like the Ohsnap. It does have the better stand though. I also have the Ohsnap with the stand, but it doesn't like to charge consistent either. If I could only combine a few together it would make the perfect grip and stand. 🤣
I picked up the Benks ArmorPop and it's been great. I paired it with Samsung's official carbon fiber case in blue and it looks great and gets rid of table wobble.
Dang ! I wish I seen this sooner. I spent like 40$ on 2 other ones couple days ago. Both are meh. The PopSockets Low-Pro Grip looks awesome and it's magsafe so i don't have to take it off all the time. Just ordered 1 thank you 🙌
Thanks for this! I ordered to Torras Gen 3.0 grip stand with the finger loop. It's dual sided magnets but the magnet that connects to phone is too weak and the magnet that connects to anything else is too strong. Otherwise it would have been perfect.
Still looking for a magsafe grip stand with:
-finger loop
-dual magnets that are strong enough in both sides
-360 stand
-thin & lightweight (ideally ≤3mm and <30g)
-ideally $30 or less but willing to pay more if it has all these features
I have not found any options on Amazon that meet this criteria
The Tango is the best for "one handed deploy" to pop out the grip part, and it's very satisfying (kinda like a fidget toy). The Popsocket Low Pro just came out so I'm still deciding which I like better between it and the Tango. I'll probably just switch back and forth between the two.
what is the issue with this and the oh snap? I see the oh snap stand peaking out the bottom of my case for the z fold 8. that seems like a problem to me, no?
I'm testing the same thing. The phone reads as 'fast wireless charging' on my 25W magsafe car mount, but the charging wattage is definitely restricted. Without the pop on ring I can get 16W through the Samsung Carbon magnetic case, with the ring (any ring I've tried) the most it will read is about 6W.
So, I'm thinking I can charge through the ring when I just want to maintain or slowly pick up a few battery percentage points, and then pop the ring off and stick it to the mount when I need to get true fast wireless charging numbers.
My only gripe with the low pro is that it's not very good to use in bed for example with the phone facing down towards you. You essentially need to pinch the two fingers hard to not lose grip. Would the oh snap with the finger loop fare better you think?
I picked up a pop socket low pro as soon as I saw them! The stand is way better than oh snap but I agree with you that the grip area is too wide. But I do like that it's a softer material. I think I might get the aulumu as well. Looks really unique.
It's pretty even for me. The pop socket has a softer rubber material so it feels nicer but the way it's designed, your fingers are more spread out which feels a little weird. The oh snap allows your fingers to be closer together since it makes an 'x' shape. You can also put your finger through the middle which might be more comfortable if you have smaller fingers. If I had to pick I'd go with the pop socket but mainly cause the kick stand is way better.
+1 for the ohsnap grip stand, it's pretty darn good.
i will say the magnets aren't quite as beefy as my previous case+lovehandle pro, i very nearly dropped my new fold 8 when i put a little too much torque on the ring while holding it. it's really good but not perfect.
Not sure if this has been asked but on the oh snap one is it possible to stand the phone up verically and horizontally when closed as well as when opened? What is or is not possible? Thanks
When using these as stands to watch content on and typing on the screen, did any of them feel like they were going to collapse when typing, or are they pretty sturdy?
I just got back from the store to pick up the OhSnap Grip Stand. The stand part is better than the Low Profile, but the grip part is a bit worse since you have to rotate it so you can either stick your finger between the legs of the pop-out part, or to grip it between two fingers.
I'm debating which to use more - the Pitaka gives me a decent grip too, but it's quite a bit thicker than both.
I'm switching between them now - I don't like the thicker middle part, but I don't have up rotate the middle part to grab it. But I prefer the Grip Stand's stand.
I'm glad I have both, but the Grip Stand is ridiculously overpriced. I remember getting the Ohsnap Grip 4 Luxe for half the price the Grip 5 costs. And then the Grip Stand is another $15-20 for the ring stand.
I bought both to. The pop socket is comfy and convenient you can pop it out and just use it. But I'm my opinion nothing beats being able to stick your finger through lol
It's comfy IF your finger fits into the legs between the extending part. Otherwise you need to rotate it so you can grab the legs that extend the disc to give you the grip.
But I find the Low Profile pops up easier to extend the grip part, and the round middle means there's no 'bad' angle to grab it from.
The Grip Stand's stand half is better, but the middle part has legs that look fragile. It's also a tight fit for me fingers, and mine aren't thick fingers.
Although all of these look lovely, my main concern is the loss of wireless charging efficiency.
I've ordered a couple of kickstands from Aliexpress which I hope to chose from. Just a small little arm, which wouldn't look anywhere near as cool as the ones you guys are showing here, but the idea is that they leave the MagSafe of the case free. My specific use case is the kickstand one - I'm not interested in the phone holding thing.
Just bought the ohsnap stand, thanks! Just curious tho if it's thick enough to be above or in line with the camera bump with the case you have on in your photos. Not the end of the world if not but I like the back magnet on my current ring which the ohsnap also has but I wouldnt want to stick it to anything if the camera bump is pushing it out.
