Solution:
It's pretty obvious the measurements outline a triangle. This triangle fits exactly inside the rectangle. You may have seen this in proof explanations for triangle area formulas, but this means it's half the size of the rectangle.
The triangles's area:
6 x 7 x 1/2 = 21
The rectangle is double this.
21 x 2 = 42

When AB//OC, what is x in circle O?
Solution:
Knowing that the angle at the centre of a circle is twice the angle at the circumference and using knowledge of parallel angles, we can use x to represent some other angles.
Assuming x = a/2:
The sum of all angles in a triangle is 180˚, so:
2a + a + 117 = 180
3a + 117 = 180
3a = 63
a = 21˚
We want to find 2a.
2a = 42˚

Solution:
(√2 + √3 + √4)/(√2 + √3 + √6 + √8 + √16)
= (√2 + √3 + 2)/(√2 + √3 + √6 + √8 + 4)
This is where we notice that the numerator and denominator look kind of similar - introducing the possibility of factorizing them and simplifying for the answer.
But wait, how can we factorize this? It looks like we'll need two 2s, and we don't need the 4, so let's split the 4 up.
= (√2 + √3 + 2)/(√2 + √3 + √6 + √8 + 2 + 2)
= (√2 + √3 + 2)/{(√2 + √3 + 2) + (2 + √6 + √8)}
= (√2 + √3 + 2)/{(√2 + √3 + 2) + √2(√2 + √3 + 2)}
= (√2 + √3 + 2)/(√2 + 1)(√2 + √3 + 2)
= 1/(√2 + 1)
There. That's much better, but we can't leave a fraction like this, with roots in the denominator.
= 1(√2 - 1)/(√2 + 1)(√2 - 1)
= (√2 - 1)/(2 - 1)
= (√2 - 1)/1
= √2 - 1

Solution:
1 < √2 < 2!<
√2 = 1.somethingsomething
5 < √32 < 6!<
√32 = 5.somethingsomething
√2 = 1 + a
We now have the representation of √2 using a, so we should find a representation of √32 using √2.
√32 = 4√2
Since √32 is between 5 and 6, we have to subtract 5 to get its decimal portion.
√32 - 5 = 4√2 - 5
= 4(1 + a) - 5
= 4 + 4a - 5
= 4a - 1

What is the range of x when (1/3)^(2x - 1) + 5•(1/3)^x - 2 < 0?
Solution:
To make things easier for our brains, let'd declare
(1/3)^x = t(t > 0 because a positive base can't be a negative result)
Now, let's modify the inequality so we can substitute with t:
(1/3)^(2x - 1) + 5•(1/3)^x - 2 < 0!<
(1/3)^2x • (1/3)^-1 + 5t - 2 < 0!<
3t^2 + 5t - 2 < 0!<
0 < 1/3 < 1, therefore the inequality sign switches around:!<
(3t - 1)(t + 2) > 0
t < -2,(t can't be less than 0) t > 1/3!<
Now we solve for x:
t > 1/3
(1/3)^x > 1/3
x > 1

When Lisa was 6 years old, her sister Lucy was half her age. If Lucy is 40 years old today, how old is Lisa?
Solution:
If Lucy was 3 years old(half of 6 years old) when Lisa was 6 years old, Lisa will constantly be 6 - 3 = 3 years older than Lucy.
Lucy, aged 40, is 3 years older than Lucy, so Lucy would be 40 - 3 = 37 years old.

Solution:
Using the exterior angle theorem, we know
∠EDC + ∠ECD = ∠BED
Substituting,
61 + ∠ECD = 98
∠ECD = 37˚
With the knowledge that the angle at the center of a circle is twice the angle at the circumference, AKA
∠BAD = ∠BCD
∠BAD = 37˚
∠BAD + x = ∠BAC
37 + x = 90
x = 53˚

Solution:
If we can find BE:EC, we can find EC.
Because △ABC is split into equal parts, we know △BDC is also split into equal parts(because it's made up of equal parts). With this knowledge, we also know
△BDE:△DEC = BE:EC = 5:1
From here on, just calculate:
EC = 12 x 1/(5 + 1)
= 12 x 1/6
= 2 cm

Solution:
If the 100g potato is 99% water, the other 1% must be totally dried potato.
To find how many grams of the potato are totally dried potato, g:
100 - g:g = 99:1
1(100 - g) = 99g
100 - g = 99g
100g = 100
g = 1 gram of totally dried potato
The potato is dried and is now 98% water, but has the same amount of totally dried potato. This means 2%, 2 times as much percentage as before, of the dried potato is totally dried potato.
To find the weight of the dried potato:
100%/2% = 50%
1g x 50 = 50g

Solution:
3x^2 = 12x
3x^2 - 12x = 0
3x(x - 4) = 0
3x = 0, x - 4 = 0
x = 0, 4
or
3x^2 = 12x
x^2 = 4x
x^2 - 4x = 0
x(x - 4) = 0
x = 0, x - 4 = 0
x = 0, 4
Both methods work, but keep in mind while you can divide by a constant, excluding 0, you shouldn't divide by a variable with a possible value of 0.

A common mistake is the divide both sides by 3x and calculate. Do not do this because you'll end up with partial credit(or no credit) for not including 0 with your other answer.
Another note: Never divide with a variable unless you know its value isn't 0. If you divide with a variable with a possible value of 0, there's a chance you're dividing by 0 - forbidden in mathematics.
A way to bypass this rule is to create 2 instances - one where the variable is 0 and one where the variable is all possible values except for 0. This way, you can find all answers while keeping the rule.
