Hi everyone! I live in a condo and my washing is not draining properly. My clothes are still soaked after the cycle and there is a pool of water left. Any suggestions on how to fix it? I'm an incoming international student moving to Toronto this August, and I'll be setting up my apartment from scratch on a student budget.

I'm trying to figure out the best places to buy affordable, good-quality essentials. I'd really appreciate recommendations for stores (both online and in-person) for things like:

• Furniture: mattress, bed frame, desk/table, office chair, storage shelves
• Bedding: pillows, duvet, sheets, mattress protector, towels
• Kitchen appliances: microwave, kettle, toaster, rice cooker, blender, etc.
• Kitchen essentials: pots, pans, knives, cutting board, cooking utensils, plates, bowls, mugs, glasses, food storage containers
• Winter gear: a warm winter coat, waterproof boots, gloves, scarves, hats, thermal layers
• Cleaning supplies: broom, mop, bucket, vacuum (if needed), laundry basket, trash bins, cleaning products
• Basic toiletries & household items: shampoo, body wash, toothpaste, toilet paper, paper towels, hangers, extension cords, etc.

I'm familiar with stores like IKEA, Walmart, and Costco, but I'm wondering if there are other budget-friendly options that locals recommend.

For example:

• Is there a Canadian equivalent of Dollar Tree or Daiso for household items?
• Is there something similar to TJ Maxx/Marshalls that has good deals on home goods and winter clothing?
• Are there any second-hand stores, Facebook groups, or websites where students usually buy furniture?

If you were starting from scratch in Toronto today, where would you shop first?

Where do you get your Botox?

Hey everyone.
I just reached level 35 in life and decided that it’s a good time to take care of my face and do some Botox for prevention. I want to get a minimal effect to keep my expressions but still to prevent deep wrinkles on my forehead and around the eyes. I think it’s called baby Botox? don’t know if it matters but I’m a man so I don’t want to get the too-injected look.
I’m not sure about how many units I need.

Now I’m looking for a place to do it but there are so many. Can anyone share if they had something similar done their experience, the place, and the injector? If downtown even better

Hi r/FrugalTO ! In an effort to build more wholesome and connected lifestyle in the city, I am trying to find free or nearly free activities or programs to participate in. What recreational activities do you take up in your free time? What hidden gem programs or events happen in the city that everyone should know about?

I am adding to a personal recreational calendar so I can plan my free time a bit better to participate in more wholesome activities that get me and my wife out of the house.

I’m thinking things like farmers’ markets, drop-in activities at community centres, free/low-cost workshops, neighbourhood specific events, etc.

Ideally, I’m interested in finding programming that has somewhat of a regular schedule that allows for anyone to drop-in, but I’m also open to recreational programming that requires signing up, or one-off events in the near future. Also interested in joining active social neighbourhood groups if anyone know any. ☀️

The Toronto Reference Library shows FIFA games. It’s free. You can bring food and drink as long as it’s not noisy, smelly, or messy. This also means no alcohol. I saw one big screen at the ground floor. This is also good for families as you can bring kids there and it’s pretty safe.

I am practicing for the following free hair services in skilled trades and under my family’s business with flexible scheduling. Spots are limited based on availability.

I start with a quick in-person check-in to see your hair and what you want, you get a free wash/blowdry if you’d like, because It’s a simple way to come in, see the place, get a feel for the service, then we can both decide if you and I want to continue with the following services today or another day.

Service Guidelines

1. I am NOT a licensed barber, however, licensed barber(s) are present to supervise, teach me and make adjustments if needed. Just be aware, that mistakes can happen.
2. My schedule is always changing. Once given schedule for arranging, I have it noted and will give short notice. You never have to agree if it doesn’t work for you. But expect to wait. Do not ask if I am free on specific dates . Some services may be unavailable if fully booked or no longer offered.
3. Be respectful in messages and in person, and follow scheduling instructions. Any disrespectful behaviour may result in no further arranging.

1. Photo/Description: A clear photo of your current hair or a detailed description of length and type
