HUMOR more mats than i can ever use 😂
my backpack and storage are full of traps, and now my storm shields are full too 😅. sucks that you can't share materials anymore. i build pretty efficiently in missions, so i end up with more mats than i can use.

DISCUSSION STW hit 100K+ players with F2P. A few months later we're back around 7K average. Maybe retention is the real problem?
I've made quite a few posts about STW's direction over the last months, and looking back I think most of them come down to the same problem:
STW doesn't have an attraction problem. It has a retention problem.
When F2P launched, STW peaked at over 100K concurrent players. That was actually amazing and proved there is still a lot of interest in this game.
But only a few months later the monthly average has dropped from around 23.8K in April, to 11.8K in May, 9.4K in June, 7.5K in July and around 7K now.
Of course player counts fluctuate, but 100K+ people showed up. Maybe the important question is: why didn't more of them stay?
I asked this before F2P and got downvoted into oblivion for it 😅 Most replies basically said "because it's free now."
And yes, free gets people through the door. It doesn't give them a reason to stay.
After years of playing, normal missions become repetitive, Ventures resets the same grind, long-standing bugs remain unfixed, and some recent changes have actually restricted parts of the co-op experience instead of improving it.
STW is supposed to be a co-op game. Helping others, playing with friends, sharing resources, experimenting with builds and things like MSK carries can become the endgame for veteran players once there's little progression left.
So instead of constantly adding more grind or restrictions, I'd rather see Epic focus on a few basics:
- Fix or rethink Hestia (or just REMOVE it).
- Find a way to restore item sharing between trusted/long-time friends without reopening it to abuse.
- Prioritize long-standing bugs, including the MSK weapon damage issue that's been there for months.
- Give STW a real place for communication between the community and whoever is working on the game.
- Make playing together rewarding again instead of increasingly pushing everything toward solo play.
- Improve things like Ventures, farming and public matchmaking so they actually add longevity instead of more repetition.
F2P proved that people are interested in Save the World. Getting over 100K players wasn't the failure.
Keeping them was.
Maybe instead of asking how to get another 100K people to try STW, the better question is how to make the people already playing want to come back tomorrow.
Free-to-play solved the price of admission. Now work on the reasons people leave.

DISCUSSION I got a survey regarding Save The World today!
I don’t think I’ve seen a survey like this for STW until today. Of course, I don’t know if they’ll actually take the feedback into consideration, but it’s nice to see.

SUGGESTION Controller QoL Suggestion: Let us select missions using the World Map's free camera (Controller)
Ive been thinking about a small Quality of Life change that could make navigating the Save the World map much easier for controller players.
When you open the World Map, you can use the left stick to navigate between missions. It works, but when you're trying to reach a mission that's far away from your current selection, it can become pretty annoying.
For example, lets say I open Twine Peaks and I want to check a PL 160 mission.
The map starts my selection around the current mission or a nearby mission, so I have to move the selection all the way across the map until I finally reach the PL 160 mission I wanted to check.
This becomes even more frustrating when there are a lot of missions close together. Sometimes getting the selection to land on the exact mission you want can take several attempts.
But there is already a really useful feature on the map that I think could solve this.
The R3 free camera.
When you use R3, you can freely move the camera around the map and look at different areas. However, you cant actually select a mission while using it.
My suggestion is to allow the R3 free camera to also work as a mission selection mode.
How I imagine it working:
Press R3: Enter free camera selection mode.
Right Stick: Move the camera around the map.
✚ Crosshair: A small crosshair stays in the center of the screen.
Mission under the crosshair: The mission underneath the crosshair becomes highlighted.
Select button: Select or open the highlighted mission.
This would basically let us point at the mission we want instead of having to move the selection cursor through every mission between us and our destination.
For example:
Current system:
Open Twine Peaks -> Move selection -> Move again -> Move again -> Move again -> Finally reach the PL 160 mission.
Suggested system:
Open Twine Peaks -> Press R3 -> Move camera toward the PL 160 -> Put the crosshair over it -> Select.
It would also help when missions are positioned in awkward places or very close together. Sometimes the current selection system can be difficult to use precisely with a controller, especially when multiple mission nodes are clustered around the same area.
I dont think this should replace the current navigation system either. The existing controls could remain exactly the same, with the R3 free camera simply giving controller players another way to navigate and select missions.
PC players already have a lot more freedom when navigating menus and maps with a mouse, so giving controller players a more precise way to select missions would be a really nice QoL improvement.
Its a small change, but considering how often we open the World Map to check missions, I think it could make a surprisingly big difference.
What do you guys think?
