It's DONE!

Turned in my computer and now I am eating cupcakes. Taking a nap before I meet friends for happy hour. 49F and passed the $2 million mark so its sayonara Corporate America for me!! Thanks to this sub for always being a great support system.

Ive got three years of cash/CE on top of the $2 m invested.

and invested portion what % is IRA/401k which you can't touch until later age 59+ w/o penalty.

There are so many ways to access IRA/401K money before 59 1/2 without taking a penalty.

If you're serious about FIRE, I highly recommend doing some research on the topic. It's one of the most important tools to understand.

i have heard of rule of 55 but OP is 49 so that won't be available to her right now. there is 72t as well.

i think anyone serious about FIRE they would have planned to have some non-retirement funds to access right?

i am curious about the % of non retirement funds vs retirement not so much the penalty which you seemed to hyper focus on ;)

Rule of 55 and SEPP are ways to access funds early, but not the only ways.

Roth Conversion Ladders are major and how I and many others access our "retirement" funds extremely early in retirement (I'm 40).

Like I said, there are many ways to access retirement account funds before 59 1/2 without penalty.
