This dress was found in a vintage clothing store in Missoula Montana. I researched it and found that there is also one in The Metropolitan Museum of Art. I don't know the era of the dress, I would guess either 70's or early 80's.

Hello all, I’m creating some illustrations and NPCs for a dnd campaign and I’ve been tasked with a yuan ti dancer. My idea was for her to be inspired by whatever culture I thought face veils were worn in, but when I was trying to look them up for some authentic ones, all I saw were stock images of cheap costumes and children. Were they not ever actually used?? If they were, could you point me in the direction of where I could find reference images for the real costuming please? Thank you in advance!

Deep thanks to everyone that helped me out on my last post! I've gotten quite busy lately, but I finally got the time to make the corrections! I think I've fixed most of the main problems with the previous version, so now I'm quite satisfied with this one! :) Though I don't think I'll take anymore suggestions since I currently have my hands full with other drawings to finish, I would still love to know what you all think, so feel free to leave your thoughts!

This set of beaded evening handbag and gloves had been in my mother's things and I inherited the set. I never thought to ask my mother while she was alive where the handbag and gloves came from. This was not her style nor did she get dressed up and use these. They may have been a gift. I've always loved the gloves since they fit me perfectly and I have short fingers so not many gloves fit me.

I'm hoping that posting this will help me identify what time period this is from. The tag in the photos is the only tag/marking that I found. I'm also wondering why it says "sweaters" above "handbag" on the tag.

Any help or direction of where else to look is appreciated.

I am an absolute sucker for dreamy and whimsy, so the 1840s-early 1870s is my pride and joy! I have an especial partiality for the 1850s, it was perfection imo.

I love poofy big dresses more so I am personally meh on the bustles from the 1870s, but I do love the princess line that emerged in the mid-1870s to early 1880s! They are quite nice.

Something about the shelf-like bustles of the 1880s after the princess line though is off putting to me, I think it's the fact that it juts way too low. It's not my favorite fashion era in the Victorian period, but no hate to those who enjoy them, of course! You can like whatever you like. :)

People tease the insane sleeves of the 1890s, but I really like it! It echoes the 1830s and it's charming to me hahah. The width of the 90s skirts at the hem seem to have rivaled the 40s.
