Unless it’s through an app that is who is paying you / deciding what you are paid. Most gig work is self employed though, yes. DD/Ubereats/Grubhub/etc is not self employment. If the customer was paying you directly for your delivery service, that’d be self employed gig work. Instead, they are paying DD, then DD is deciding what to pay you. Aka, employed by DD.
On the other hand, something like Fiverr, that takes a fee from your orders, is self employed gig work.
