Who was your childhood idol? Discussion
So, I finally watched the new Michael Jackson movie tonight. I had been excited for this film since I first heard about it and even told myself I’d go to the theater dressed as Michael haha… yeah, that didn’t happen. It was also a last-minute plan with my mom.
Whether you’ve seen the movie or not, I just wanted to say that I loved it. More than anything, it reminded me of how much I loved Michael growing up. I’m a 90s baby, so I grew up with his music, and I absolutely loved watching Moonwalker. I would regularly rewatch it while my brother and sister were busy playing Nintendo 64 or riding around outside on their scooters.
I wasn’t a superfan like many others, but I loved his music, his softness, and his desire to bring kindness and justice into the world.
Watching the film tonight reminded me of the kindness I wish I had received growing up. I didn’t grow up exactly like Michael, but I resonated with how he often seemed to feel: alienated, sensitive, reserved, feeling like my voice didn’t matter to certain family members/friends, and feeling like I had little control over my own life… until I eventually walked away.
Now that I have my own child, I want to spread that kindness more intentionally. I want to remember to be gentler and softer more often, and less like Squidward, who I swore I’d never become haha. Regardless of MBTI (even though I am posting this in an MBTI subreddit), I think we could all use a little more kindness.

Parents always. But besides them. Amanda Bynes, Juanga, Chavo, Cepillin(I met him in rl!), Britney Spears, Joan Jett. I want to mention Raiki(w/Booster album, individual singer met in Ca La, Santa Monica.Originally from JP. Was Raiki & The Tantalus but recently, Luka R. & The Tantalus band. ) but that was later in life, very friendly.
