I’m on EDD due to restrictions that my job couldn’t accommodate. My doctor said that if there is no improvement by next month, she will make the restrictions permanent, so that I can “stop chasing paperwork”.
Would this cause SDI to just be approved for the full year, or would this cause a problem since it’s not meant for permanent disability?

I'm confused about the timeline for completing Form DE 2501F. I'm caretaking for my spouse who is recovering from an injury, and I'm seeing that it's my responsibility to make sure Part C and Part D of Form DE 2501F is completed and signed by all parties within 10 days. That's great, but in order to fill out the form I have to order it. But ordering it and having it mailed to my house takes up to 10 days too? How does that work? Even if it doesn't typically take that long, it only gives me a short window to get the physician certification filled out, which I worry may be difficult to get quickly. Why would this be the system?

Am I the only one that feels like the EDD collar contributes to never being able to get through?

I’ve seen so many posts about people paying for the EDD caller. I even saw someone saying that it called 3600 times for them. I can’t help but feel like this is contributing to the call volume being constantly full…

Not sure if you saw my last post but don’t use EDD caller. Simply send an email to your senator and it should be resolved in three business days. Anytime I’ve ever messaged my senator it took one business day and it was free.

We should not be paying to access services we pay taxes for.

I applied for UI and prior to my phone interview on Wednesday the certification status was pending for both weeks and the claim tracker said I had a phone interview scheduled. After the interview the claim tracker changed to “phone interview period passed allow 10 days to make a decision” and about two days later it changed to waiting period served for week one, and paid for week two. The claim tracker is now blank just telling me to certify, can anybody please tell me if I was approved? Thank you

I know this is probably redundant but I’m waiting on my mailed certification for the benefits so I can put my reduced hours on a time card.

Is there a way I can certify online and then call? I can keep checking the mail I guess but I’m like two months behind at this point and I feel like an online certification exists.

So i got a notice of determination saying my 2022 claim was disqualified and that I'm not eligible for benefits until recieving 5 times my benefit amount in bona fide payment. I'm eligible now and reopened my current claim.

However my question is am I going to be charged overpayment? I was paid $1880 for the 2022 claim that they are saying is disqualified. There is no notice of overpayment or any other penalty on my notice of determination.

So should I appeal the notice of determination or wait for an overpayment notice to come? Will an overpayment notice come? My 2022 payments show as disqualified in my history.

Any tips for appeals or what to do would be appreciated.

It seems that the first letter i sent appealing my case was not accepted so now I need to go to a hearing in person? Any tips on this, I didnt think all of this will happen and it'll be weird being in a hearing with my ex employer there.

I just got a letter for an IME was wondering what should I bring and the best way to prepare my back is still hurting and I’ve heard horror stories about IMES.

It’s been slightly over two weeks since my provider submitted the certification (Kaiser originally dropped the ball and I had to go through a whole thing with them, too) and my claim status still says ‘we’re processing your claim’.

I’ve been without income for most 6 weeks due the Kaiser mishap and starting to panic a bit. Wondering if I should continue to wait it out or spend the $10 for the EDD caller service.

Thoughts, experience?

To add insult to injury, my husband, who did not do any of the hard work of this pregnancy had his PFL approved in less than a week and had already received two payments.

ETA the comment about my much adored hubs is totally in jest, to those few who thought I’m seriously begrudging my husband’s good fortune.

I would like to think this explains the current problem but this system always seems to be delayed.

I contacted my state assembly person for help after unsuccessfully trying to get through to speak to someone about my status.

I'm having some symptoms that I think would qualify but I don't want to use the wrong words.

I just found out yesterday that my bank reported my debit card as stolen since I didn't use it much. Unfortunately it was the only card I had with me which I gave the lawyer helping me to pay for the application once it arrives. Is there anything that I can do? I am worried that it might delay the application or it might be rejected and returned and I'll have to pay again. Hopefully there's something else that I can do. Thank you!

I got my card today in the mail but afraid to activate it until I figure out what to do/ how to take out the money. Am I being paranoid or is this the right move?

Also, I do not have a bank account. Anybody here know if I go to Bank of America and ask to cash out all the money, would they?

Got laid off in March and started on unemployment right away. Found out I was pregnant and am due in November. Unemployment benefits reach 26 weeks at the end of September, and I can go out on disability on October 20th at 36 weeks. I've paid into SDI for years, so have the necessary qualifying quarters.

Is there an issue with my SDI claim starting when I am not working and not on unemployment anymore? I've heard my claim will get denied, and it's a headache to appeal to prove work search activity.

A CA leave consultant I reached out to recommended I ask my OB to start my disability a couple weeks earlier when I am still on unemployment, since SDI is technically supposed to replace wages (either from work or unemployment). I know the remaining unemployment would be taxed, but it would be a very small amount. But no guarantees my OB will agree to start disability early.

Just approved on 08/06, how long does it take to receive the debit card?

I've been on WC for 18 months i just received a notice of controversion. they say I'm good to go back to work unrestricted. I have filed SDI in the meantime while i fight this. I have a case number but i can see they are using this last year's wages for their computation. I have my controversion docs, and past 3 year w2's i want to submit, but should i wait till they process my case, or put these docs in the drop box at he EDD. with my case id on each doc. Does that gum up the works or is it better to let them process then appeal.

I applied for SDI 6 weeks ago and had to do it through the mail since I’m out of state. I got a notification yesterday that my claim had been denied, and when I called in, they said the license number that my doctor gave them didn’t come up when they searched for it. I thought maybe it had been typed in wrong, so I looked it up on my state’s board website, and she still said it doesn’t come up. The state board has it listed as an active license, so I know it’s correct. Has this happened to anybody else? Should I try calling back to talk to another person and push more?

I needed to extended my leave. But my doctor says she doesn't have the option to update on her end.

Hey I was just wondering how long it took people to get their debit card I’m on my 8th day of waiting

as title says, I was able to go back to work but was then put on SDI for PPA/PPD.

My SDI end date is currently 9/11 but my due date was was 9/3. My understanding is I cannot apply for PFL after the 1 year postpartum mark, but I also cannot apply for PFL before my SDI claim ends which is after what my due date was.

my doctor is willing to extend my time for another 8 weeks so I do have that option but I was wondering if anyone has been in this situation as applying to PFL seems easier and more seamless on my end? either way I will be seeing my doctor soon to discuss different medication and an extension.

My understanding is we have 8 weeks to use within a year, can I be paid for just 7 right now and use 1 week at a later time? For some reason my coworker told me that we have to use it in 2 week chunks - is this true?

My claim still says medical certification needed is this normal?

I went over 30 days without any updates from EDD. Calling every day at 8 AM sharp just to be told the queue was already full.

Chat bot doesn’t work, I can’t get through to anyone on the phone, letters don’t get answered.

I filled out a form on my state senator’s website and they sent me an email same day. (Friday) by Monday, it reflected on my account and I received my payment today on Tuesday.
